    Great job Jane and Sherri you are both doing so well.
    40 year old male 6' 3"

    What I know:
    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
    2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
    3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
    4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

      I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday but I ate a cashew. It wasn't a slip I just wanted to eat it to see what it tasted like...and it was nasty! I used to love to eat them but yesterday it tasted so sweet, so foreign, to me. Even though I am back at day 1, I am glad I ate it. That's just one more thing that I don't miss.

          Aren't you up the rungs far enough that a cashew is not a cheat? They are rung 3. I added them (nuts and seeds) in long enough to know that I have no portion control with nuts out of hand. I can have them in a recipe, but not just to eat. I can have tree nuts and some seeds in the freezer (out of sight) but I can't have peanuts or peanut butter in the house.
          People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

            I started induction mid January and I extended it a little, then I moved up to rung one. I am still adding veggies. I am actually happy with my eating right now and I don't really miss anything. I will probably move up when I begin to feel deprived. I love eating meat, I have always been a meat eater so that is a plus for me. I love pecans, are they a good nut?

              Pecans, almonds and walnuts are the very best for you. Cashews are pretty carby and not as good for you. When you start adding in nuts, you can have an ounce of most nuts, but only a half ounce of cashews. Page 174 in 2002 DANDR. I love pecans, too.

                I knew cashews were one of the worst. But, the used to taste so good!! Now they taste just horrible to me. I am glad for that. I hope I develop a dislike for all things that are bad for me. It has gotten to where I don't like anything with a sweet taste. I gave up all sweetners too. I was drinking a diet rite soda but soon I cut it to once a week then completely out.

                  7 cheat free days since I started the cheat free challenge! It's a start!

                  I know what you mean Porcelain, about things tasting differently! It is so funny how I taste sweet things so acutely now! I can taste the sweetness in many veggies I never would have thought of as sweet.

                    I'm going to call 36 days done. This has been an odd day, where I'm not craving really, and (most) all of my food has been good, but none of it satisfied me. I am not hungry, I just can't find that food that would hit the spot.


                    I think I'm having winter doldrums. February has been so cold and windy, with freezing rain or sleet several times a week. Just what I need when I can't leave the house for weeks on end. I checked the weather for the next week--bad thing to do!

                      Just checking in today. I havent cheated at all since starting atkins except for accidentally going over my cheese limit one day but no actual eating off plan cheats. I gotta say today though I was almost tempted once. My husband baked a huge batch of peanut butter cookies and just left them sitting on the cookie sheets on the store and then went to work.

                      I wanted to pull the V8 commercial smack upside his head. I picked one up to smell it and thank goodness for the seasonal cold that has taken my sense of smell completely. I couldnt smell it and it made it a lot easier to put it back down.

                      Then I noticed the greasy feeling on my hand...I did the right thing!!!

                      Also every sunday night at our churchs study night ppl bring snacks and such (usually cookies, cake, stuff I cant eat) and thats a tough night so I make sure I am not hungry at all and eat a nice fat and protein filled snack before I go.

                      I do break down that night and at least have 1/3 a cup decaf coffee. (decaf coffee is a food I have a strange intolerance to it gives me headaches if i drink more than 1/2 a cup) but that with a tad splenda and cream makes me feel like im getting a "treat" too so its not bad.

                      Doin good so far!!!

                            sunny......i am here and i need you. today is march 1st, its just 4:15am right now, but i would like to proclaim my commitment to your challenge. this is exactly what i need! there are 31 days in this month and if i can make 31 days cheat-free......i would just be so happy, and no doubt, i might break through another mini goal (240).

                              You can do it Chris, if you put as much thought into your eating as you do the exercise, the pounds will fly off you. Welcome to the Challenge, you will do great.
