Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

        Hi, Liv and gang!

This challenge is just what I need. I don't want to greet the new year having gained weight over the holidays. I want it to be different this year!

I haven't lost any weight the last month due to my not sticking to program and sneaking little cheats here and there,
so my first goal will be to restart induction today and give myself a good 14 day head start.

I don't know what all my goals will be yet, but I will think about it today and post later on.

        Thanks!
        Tammy

        Restart: 5/10/10

        Goals:
        Beginning: 201
        Goal 1: 191-1st 10#
        Goal 2: 181
        Goal 3: 171
        Goal 4: 161
        Goal 5:

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Weight: I would like to not gain any weight. Well, really I would like to get down to 160, but I've been stuck at 166 for the last month, so... :/

Diet: I'd like to figure out what is making me stuck.

Water: I'm going to remember to drink it! I'll shoot for 64 oz. a day -- I'll join the water challenge once I finish typing this.

Supplements: I will continue taking my supplements. Maybe I will even try going to a tanning salon around the corner -- I found one that has high levels of UVB to help with Vitamin D production.

Exercise: I want to do the elliptical every day until 12/11 and then 3x per week after that (is there an elliptical challenge?). If there is an ab challenge, I will join that, but otherwise, I'm going to shoot for 200 crunches/day. I'm going to do my inner thighs with some 10lb weights I have, and my triceps with the 20lb weights.

Motivation: I will not binge on my trip to Vegas! I'll be fine on Christmas. Will not binge at wedding on NYE at fancy hotel.

Planning: See above. I'll bring some macadamia nuts, coconut oil, stevia and buffalo jerky along with me so I am not hungry.

taking care of me: I am going to set aside some time to knit and sew.

          Your reward
If I shed 6lbs this month, I'm going to go buy an article of clothing for myself!!

                December 1st:
Had a good first day. Drank 64oz of water, stayed away from the nuts (I was bloated). I didn't exersize but I did put up the Christmas tree and cook dinner on time. Last night I slept 12 hours (I am a little sickish I think from the sudden cold front...) Spent some quality time with my boyfriend when he got home from work...we watched the simpsons...then I feel asleep .

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

                  Hi everyone,

Liv this is a great idea. I saw it and wanted to join straight away but was pondering what was realistic for a few days! I want to make this manageable given that I will be away for around a week late in the month and won't have much food control. So:

Weight: I would like to stay under my current weight for the whole of the month. I think I'll probably lose a bit more before I go away and probably gain a little back but I don't want to be up to 196lbs again.

Diet: I will eat clean at home. When not at home I will make good choices. I will also take some of my own 'treat' type foods so I don't get tempted.

Water: I don't monitor this because I'd always drunk a lot of water. I'll remember to carry on with this when at others houses too and am out of my routine.

Supplements: I will buy some more - ran out and not replaced. Also vit c and echinsea for fending off colds.

Exercise: Up until 22nd I will be doing the shred (with 1 day off per week allowed if I fel I need it). After that I will do exercise when I have time but will go for a minimum of every other day over the time of being away. This will include pushups, abs, etc but also long walks. I will go to any kickboxing classes I have time and transport to.

Planning: I will plan alternative treats to take with me to relatives to make the sugary stuff less tempting.

Taking care of me: I will do some meditating, have warm baths after extreme stretching and spend more time on getting ready for Christmas parties.

My Reward: This is hard! I think if I manage all this that will be reward in itself! But I will get P90X in the new year to shape my workouts.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

December the 1st: I did shred, did kickboxing class which I walked to 40 mins). I am eating OWL-ishly but in quite an unstructured way - I am eating lots of veggies and went out so had 2 glasses wine and some cashews.

Hard work was rewarded today - down to 187lbs. The shred seems to be working.

                    --
Today (2nd) I will go and buy supplements tommorrow when next in town. Will do my shred. Food roughly planned.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

                      Hello everyone,

Although, I'm not new to the Atkins Diet, I am new here to these Atkins forums. I'm hoping to get a lot of insight and support. I tried Atkins for a month and it worked wonders but I fell off right at Thanksgiving. I really disappointed myself because I worked so hard to lose the 12 lbs, and I put it all back on in a matter of 4 days. I want to try this diet again, so these are my goals for December:

                      Weight: Lose 5-10 pounds.

Diet: Stick to the induction foods ONLY. NO Alcohol! Drink 4-5 16oz bottles of water daily. Plan my meals daily, prepare nightly.

Supplements: Remember to take my multi-vitiamin daily.

Exercise: 4-5 days per week for 75 mins cardio. After I lose the first 10 pounds I'll start a weight training routin to build muscle and continue burning fat.

                      Good Luck everyone.

Question?.............How effective is the Atkins diet if you have tried it but then fell off and gained the weight back?

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

I did really well yesterday in all regards. Scale rewarded me this morning. I think the water is very important for me. Perhaps the exercise, too.

I am feeling motivated. Maybe I can get down to 160 this month!!

Tip of the day for December 2

Join a challenge you did not plan on joining. You are not in the squat challenge? Well try it. Sign up for just a few and give yourself a chance to experience something different without too much pressure

I signed up for elliptical. Just for a few hours this month. I am going to give it a try. Been so long since I did it before.

I need to set my goals

Weight: I need to use the scale - I do not weigh myself weekly and I need to maintain. I will report weight tomorrow

Sliding - slip sliding away. I do this - especially in the winter - I do not directly cheat but I eat too many of these and too many of those and it the end I overeat carbs - bad carbs. So I am going to be good in this area

Exercise - I notice I have started to find excuses to skip my sessions. I decided to sign up for a new challenge to motivate myself. And I will do regular exercise

Taking care of myself - I feel bad when I do too much computers or tv and I do not do my chores - I would feel better if I just took a few minutes more everyday to do some pick up and chores. I know I like it when I do. I will bring some outer calm in my environment and help my inner calm in this so stressful month.

Cooking - I will try a new recipe this month - something different but legal. I have to do some research on this one

Vitamins - it is so dark - I feel it having an impact - I am going to do some Bs and Ds this month. I also thought I would try some Applecider vinegar this month to see what it does. I keep making bone broths to use for mineral supplements

Reward - If I can really do good I think I would like to buy myself something cute - I'll post a picture

So far, so good. I'm looking forward to the wii that will be under the tree For now, I picked up some new videos, mostly dance-workouts and pilates.

I was doing one of the new dance videos for the first time last night. I'm sure if I could have seen myself I would have laughed my head off...I kept moving even when I couldn't follow the steps/moves, but it wasn't pretty! Then my husband came in earlier than expected...I yelled "don't watch this"! I can't imagine doing something like this in a class environment in front of a whole bunch of people! It is fun even though it is embarrasing.
