Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Thanks you every one for reporting yesterday. Today is last day to join. Come on people jump on and have some December fun

I am ticking off responses on my chart and will post it tomorrow and then we start a new chart.

    xochitl: Welcome to the challenge

Ohbehave. Wow on your shopping experience. I am quite in awe. It is nice to go down sizes. Strawberries are not really good here in winter. I sometimes end up using cranberry sauce instread - which I like but it has quite a bit of splenda in it.

Carole Glad to hear you had a better day. I always adore your food reports. You cooks so well I want to come over.

Mission = Way to go beating the flu. Don't be worried about starting with the clean induction again. Sometimes that happens. Just do it. I am not too fond of induction but I like how the phase straighten you out.

JulieB - Yes those gathering has me a bit worried too. I do not really like to much fuzz and planning. But I know it is important. Sounds like you are on a head of the game already.

LovingThyself- So what did your son think about Shred. Wow we are quite few on this board doing JM workouts now. maybe we should get together and come notes. It is a tough workout.

So I am on schedule - starting to feel better. Resolved some issued with my DH. Storm clouds gone!!!! Huge relief. I did not do the scale yesterday either but I did today. I am still fine on maintaining. But maintaining does take work and I just started. Made my thai soup (Tom Kha gai) which I find so soothing. And got my 10K run in. I love running. I run slow but it is a great ME time. And I was a good mom. Went with my DD to see New Moon - even though teenage sexual angst is not one of my favourite topics. Fortunately I was back to reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in the evening - page turner that one.
Hope everyone has a good sunday. I am planning some Jillian Michaels workout and some yoga later.

      December 6th:
I was lazy today. I am one glass away from my water goal, but besides that I haven't really focused on my goals. I washed 6 loads of clothes and did some cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom. My boyfriend asked my brother and his girlfriend to leave today so we had some time alone, which was nice. Boyfriend cooked so I didn't even have to do that. I am quite sore though...not sure why. I watched "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" this afternoon, it was good. Thats about it. Lazy day.

Report for Dec 5th and 6th (today).

I went out last night and rank a bit too much but did not cheat! Am so pleased because parties and trains (I went by train) are my danger zones. I'm not feeling 100% (random nausea days and stomach ache) so haven't exercised.

Tommorrow will shred level 2 and eat clean

          Hi Everyone!

Did some Tai Chi again today, that's about all I can handle for now. Still tire very easily. And I am meeting my sister at Mom's today. (Yesterday was 1 week since Dad's funeral.) We are going to help her with Christmas decorating. Basically getting boxes from the attic, and then Mom deciding what to put where. And then I am picking up Younger Son from the airport. He is arriving at 11:00pm (UGH). Coming back from Calif, visiting DH, who left here Monday. When am I gonna get to finally make the final move!!! Darn economy and it's complications! Midway Airport is 10 minutes from Mom's house. I am planning on taking a nap at Mom's. Still need it.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Wow, where did the time go?

I have been doing all right, I guess. I've had a couple of slip-ups in my diet but little ones, just bites.

I've been getting lots of exercise, maybe too much. It's pruning season and I've spent hours at a time dragging brush uphill and am usually so stiff and sore the next day that I can't move! The old joints do that to you when you get to my age (64)!

I've cut back on the tea and am taking my vitamins again so I'm fine in those 2 departments but I'm having trouble managing the stress. I've been deep cleaning and decorating for Christmas so Ive been very busy. And my daughter and granddaughter next door have been sick for the past week so we've been staying away from each and my daughter who lives out of state, just had surgery last week and there's nothing I can do to help either one of them, so that's stressful too! I keep finding myself staring into the fridge a dozen times a day and although I usually just walk away, for some reason it keeps calling me back! It gets so frustrating!!!

The worst thing is that I'm having back problems and can't lie down at all anymore so I've been sleeping sitting up on the recliner since July. I can't even recline on it, I have to sit up and there are times when all I want to do is lie down and go to sleep but I can't. I've had this problem off and on for years and my doctor just says take an Alleve before you go to bed. Well, all that does is give me acid reflux which I cured when I went on Atkins and I'm not going back to it! Hopefully it will get better soon.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

looks like everyone's doing great - I slip on the weekend, not really food-wise, but get a little lazy. Need to get in the habit to exercise. Did go bowling last night, and shopping today - so some movement, but certainly not enough. Pretty lazy/hazy day in Wisconsin. Grocery shopped - we have a new grocery store here [HyVee], thought we'd try it out...I was totally lost the entire time...not sure it's better than my regular, but want to compare receipts to see if it's worth it!

Just made steak/peppers/onions for late lunch, smells great.

check in 12/6 - plan to get my a** in gear this week...not doing as well as I hoped.
              1. Weight in the 220's the 'majority' of the month - 1/6 - almost there this morning
              2. Take my supplements [almost] every day - 3/6 - need to get better at this one!
              3. Journal [fitday] at least 5 days/week - 4/6 - bad on the weekends
              4. Lose 5 inches [will measure on 1/1]

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

LIV: my son enjoyed Shred....he kept up with it without complaining... Too cute.

Day started slow, usually on Sunday we visit my mother early. Today I didn't get there till 1pm. I didn't exercise today, rest day for me. My eating has been on target and water too. My mom made a dessert... although it smells nice, I have no craving for it... VICTORY for me!!!! Aside from that, I'm feeling okay, had a slight headache took something for it.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday.

                              Challenge Summary After week one

                              akader

My goal for this month is 125 lbs
I will not eat sugar free candy
                              take supplements regularly
                              DRINK WATER!!!
Exercise at least 5 times a week from the 3 days i already do

                              Reports in week one: None

                              alexa

Weight: I would like to stay under my current weight for the whole of the month. I think I'll probably lose a bit more before I go away and probably gain a little back but I don't want to be up to 196lbs again.

Diet: I will eat clean at home. When not at home I will make good choices. I will also take some of my own 'treat' type foods so I don't get tempted.

Water: I don't monitor this because I'd always drunk a lot of water. I'll remember to carry on with this when at others houses too and am out of my routine.

Supplements: I will buy some more - ran out and not replaced. Also vit c and echinsea for fending off colds.

Exercise: Up until 22nd I will be doing the shred (with 1 day off per week allowed if I fel I need it). After that I will do exercise when I have time but will go for a minimum of every other day over the time of being away. This will include pushups, abs, etc but also long walks. I will go to any kickboxing classes I have time and transport to.

Planning: I will plan alternative treats to take with me to relatives to make the sugary stuff less tempting.

Taking care of me: I will do some meditating, have warm baths after extreme stretching and spend more time on getting ready for Christmas parties.

My Reward: This is hard! I think if I manage all this that will be reward in itself! But I will get P90X in the new year to shape my workouts.
                              Reports in week one: Good
                              Reports in week Two:

                              barrnone

                              1) Retrieve my copy of DANDR and reread it when I get home. Twice.
                              2) Make a plan for OWL. Not the individual foods, but a plan for how to follow it more closely without getting lazy.
                              3) Commit to major veggie consumption. I do fine, but I want my carbs to be continuing to come mostly from the veg no matter what rung I am on--I see this as a key to long term success for me.
                              4) Try to maintain my fitness level in December even with the traveling.

Weight: I need to use the scale - I do not weigh myself weekly and I need to maintain. I will report weight tomorrow

Sliding - slip sliding away. I do this - especially in the winter - I do not directly cheat but I eat too many of these and too many of those and it the end I overeat carbs - bad carbs. So I am going to be good in this area

Exercise - I notice I have started to find excuses to skip my sessions. I decided to sign up for a new challenge to motivate myself. And I will do regular exercise

Taking care of myself - I feel bad when I do too much computers or tv and I do not do my chores - I would feel better if I just took a few minutes more everyday to do some pick up and chores. I know I like it when I do. I will bring some outer calm in my environment and help my inner calm in this so stressful month.

Cooking - I will try a new recipe this month - something different but legal. I have to do some research on this one

Vitamins - it is so dark - I feel it having an impact - I am going to do some Bs and Ds this month. I also thought I would try some Applecider vinegar this month to see what it does. I keep making bone broths to use for mineral supplements

Reward - If I can really do good I think I would like to buy myself something cute - I'll post a picture
