These are good! i need to get a new non stick pan to make them in though, i find they stick to the pan making it hard to flip them over....but they are worth the effort though

I like to sprinkle a bit of finely crushed pork rinds over the cheese before flipping. Seems to give the shell a bit more body.

I wonder if these would be able to be made into a taco salad bowl - like place it over the bottom of a cereal bowl just after taking it out of the pan (instead of folding over as it cools)? I love those taco salad bowls but obviously can't eat them anymore. This looks so great! Now I know what I want for dinner tomorrow (so I can allow the cheese for the day)!

Yes, you can form them into a bowl - just like you described. You can also make smaller versions and use them like crackers and/or chips for dipping. Parmesean cheese works really well for that purpose (the shredded kind, not the ground kind).

Thanks! I did it last night and made it into a bowl (all the while my husband teasing me I couldn't have a "regular" taco shell tortilla, isn't he so supportive??) and it was FABULOUS!!! Thank you so much for the recipe! It was so easy too. Sure does help to have a good pan though and luckily we'd just got a new one and it was perfect. I plan to make "chips" this way too - I am sure they will be great! I will have to try that parmesan idea! Cool! I only get the shredded kind anyways so I already have it.

Someone in another thread suggested doing the same thing with the cheese, only while still hot and maleable, lay it over a small bowl and let it take the bowl shape...

Now we're up for taco salads!

You gonna use this as chips or as the chili bowl, or both??? It all sounds good to me!
