BIU is done for the day. It was UGLY - but it's done.

I bumped up to 8lb dumbbells for the shoulder work and it was a good call. It was tough, but I still popped off every rep. I might have to bump to 10's by next week.

I had to modify more than I wanted to today, but <shrug> such is life.

    According to my HR moniter:

    59 minutes 05 seconds
18 minutes 37 seconds in target heart rate zone
    Average heart rate 156
    Max heart rate 185!
    Calories burned: 599!

I read some really interesting stuff at Beach Body about heart rate and target zone. I'll post it here somewhere - LOL

I know a lot of people don't like yoga. I put it in Slim in 6 because it really helps the body cool down and it's a great way to get oxygen into those muscles. I look at it as meditation and relaxing time, even though it is sometimes quite hard. The breathing is so important. You can’t beat it. Give it a chance.

If you just don't want to do it, then at least pop in the Slim & Limber video after your workout while you are still warm. That way you are getting a sufficient amount of stretching, which will also help reduce the stiffness and soreness in your muscles. The more you stretch, the better your body will respond to exercise.

        Another BeachBody Tip:

        http://www.mybeachbody.com/bbst/debbiecorner/article_floor_leg_lifts.htm

Regarding floor leg lifts, just do as many as you can and take breaks when necessary. Each day, try to do a few more reps. That is the way to build up your strength and endurance. However, if you really feel that you want to try to do all the reps, you could pause the video until you’ve finished all of them and just keep going. Either way, it's really up to you. Just remember that everyone is at a different level, and your goal is to challenge yourself. Do your personal best. I don't expect everyone to keep up with me and do every single rep. You need to work your way into it. As long as it’s hard for you, that’s what matters.

Thanks for posting the tips brook! I am one who doesn't care for the yoga part at the end, I have been doing slim and limber instead, along with 6pk...

I am taking a rest day today, my stomach feels sick so I cancelled my appointments for the day and went home and laid down.

            OK...I've come to check in.
RIU done...and how foolish and nieve can I be? Yesterday was my first day and I was scared to death and afraid I was going to hurt myself so I must have really taken it easy and thought it wasn't such a bad workout afterwards.

Then I watched the finale of the biggest loser which was my first time watching that show. I was soo inspired that I really knew I had to work out hard to get the results.....and all I can say is OUCH! My flabby muscle-less stomach is feeling the burn! lol

I feel great and am soo thankful for the exercise! I have my kids working out. They get a good laugh when I'm grunting! LOL

            Brook, thanks for the tips!

Ramp It Up completed for today. Also did the second workout for Couch to 5K. I decided to add running to the exercise I do.

                  PJTMAY- Welcome to our challenge.

Slim & 6 Pack Completed. My 13-year-old decided to join me. He already has a 6 pack and thought he could sail through the workout. I thought he could, too, but he was moaning like a baby. For eleven minutes I felt like Debbie because I looked like a pro compared to him. He is such a good sport and wants to keep doing the workouts with me which should be fun.

4:00 will be here before I know it so I'm going to bed. See you guys tomorrow.

I know it!! I'm feeling very pumped up! Really though, I'm so happy with this challenge, it was hard to keep up the 6 day a week routine at first, but now that it's a habit, I love it!

                    So, how does everyone feel?

Are you feeling new muscles and smaller waists, hips, thighs?

                        Welcome PJ

I just finished BIU minus the abs and cool down section, slim in 6 pack and slim in limber.

Boy that guy in slim in 6 pack is not very good. It looked like he was taking a rest throughout most of the workout. He rarely lifted his shoulders off the mat and even Debbie had to tell him once.

Ramp It Up complete. I get an extra star because I did not feel like doing this at all today. Don't you just love it when she lets you sit back on your knees to stretch your back? You can get, like, 5 seconds of sleep each time! That's 20 extra seconds of sleep this morning!

That girl in RIU . . .her pictures are "phenomenal" (sorry, early in the morning, can't spell) Her body really changed.

Mission accomplished! RIU completed. Tomorrow I will try to do 5 pound weights for part of the arm exercises. WalMart has some great weights for walking and they have a velcro strap that goes over the back of your hand. If you adjust them right you don't have to grip the weight as hard so you can focus on form.

When I first started doing this challenge 36 workouts seemed un-doable. I honestly thought it would take forever to for a 6 week commitment to be completed if I was even able to stick it out. I'm nearing the halfway point and am now not wanting it to end. My scale and tape measure have not changed, darn it, but my attitude towards exercise has dramatically improved and I have more energy during the day.

                                Thanks for the camraderie.
