Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

    I did it!

I just got back from doing Day 1 of Week 3. Last week when I was doing the 90 second run/2 min walk intervals I thought "no way will I be able to do the 3 minute running interval", but I did! Mitzie said she was always nervous about starting the new week, too ~ not thinking she'd be able to pull it off. So, I would now say to those who are fretting like I did to not worry and move on to the next week. You'll be amazed at how quickly you can increase your endurance .

Somehow I ended up running until the music stopped today. That was that hardest part. I kept telling myself to just keep going. No wonder it was the hardest part...it was 4 min 10 sec long!!! I'm going to have to go back and listen to the download to see how it really times out...

    C25K D1W3

    Walk - 5-minute warmup @ 130 bpm
    Run - 90 seconds @ 140 bpm
    Walk - 90 seconds @ 130 bpm
    Run - 3 minutes @ 140 bpm
    Walk - 3 minutes @ 130 bpm
    Run - 90 seconds @ 140 bpm
    Walk - 90 seconds @ 130 bpm
    Run - 3 minutes @ 140 bpm
    Walk - 4-minute 10-second cooldown @ 130 bpm

I plan on doing C25K D2W3 on Friday.

        I agree, Clogger...great job!!!! That's awesome!!

I'll be doing that chant next week....increase my endurance, increase my endurance, increase my endurance....lol...

I finished week 1 sweating nicely. It's getting warmer here. To quote Staples button, "That was easy!". Okay mentally it wasn't so easy, but that's only because I had to talk myself into doing it today...lol. I'll start week 2 on Monday!

Yeah, Lisa! Congratulations on completing week 1. Keep it up!

That's funny about the stats...maybe you were going slightly faster.

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

I just completed C25K Day 2 Week 3. I really need to try to schedule this earlier in the day. This is the second time that I did it late (about 10 pm). It was mentally harder in some parts than last time. I found myself looking at my watch to see how much time was left before I was done running.

The chart that is provided with the download is slightly off. Instead of the last two intervals being a 3 min run followed by a 4 min 10 sec walk. It's actually a 3 min run, followed by a 3 min walk, followed by what should be the 4 min 10 sec cool down. So, I ran the first three minutes of the cool down and then walked the rest plus a couple more minutes. I've adjusted the chart accordingly.

            C25K D2W3

            Walk - 5-minute warmup @ 130 bpm
            Run - 90 seconds @ 140 bpm
            Walk - 90 seconds @ 130 bpm
            Run - 3 minutes @ 140 bpm
            Walk - 3 minutes @ 130 bpm
            Run - 90 seconds @ 140 bpm
            Walk - 90 seconds @ 130 bpm
            Run - 3 minutes @ 140 bpm
            Walk - 3 minutes @ 130 bpm
Run - 3 minutes @ 130 bpm (I need to time this on my watch since there is not a chime)
            Walk - 1-minute 10-second cooldown @ 130 bpm (I added a couple extra minutes to the cooldown)

I plan on doing C25K D3W3 on Sunday.

Look at you! Nice job! I find that I'm clock-watching right now but it's not so bad yet. That makes sense that you have to start mentally talking yourself keep going...maybe you should wear a cap with a picture of yourself attached to it at the end of the visor to look at while you run Kind of like putting a carrot in front of the horse. Not that your a horse or anything...but you know what I mean, right?

Hey, thanks for the info on that part of the chart. I was just about to figure out my minute intervals for next week. Take the weekend off and enjoy!

Wow, I finished week 3. The three minute runs are a bit challenging. This time around I didn't look at my watch nearly as much as I did last time. It will be interesting to try week 4 this week. There are two 3-minute and two five-minute running intervals.

I'm really surprised that I don't have bad shin splints. There is a little discomfort in my shins, but nothing like I remember having in the past. The only thing I can attribute that to is my shoes. These shoes, NB 1223, are perfect for me. I've had them now for probably a month and I think they've been instrumental in my not being sore like I have been in past shoes. They are well worth the money.

                            C25K D3W3

                            Walk - 5-minute warmup @ 130 bpm

I plan on doing C25K D1W4 on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Dang, girl, with stats like that from week 3, I have no doubt that you will be melting!

I'm hanging up my pedometer after today. I bought one of those watches that keeps track of the pulse rate, calories burned, etc...if it could just wash the car, do the laundry, clean the kitchen... I think I'll have a better idea of what my heart rate and calorie burning will be like this week as a dare to enter week 2!

                              See ya tomorrow!

Happy Monday everyone!!! Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Am I counting my time right????

I think I figured out that I was doing it wrong last week. I hope I got it straightend out this time around. I was counting my time of intervals along WITH the 5 minute brisk walk in the beginning. When actually I think I should have started the timed intervals after the 5 min point. Gosh, I hope that makes sense. If anyting, I got in some extra time and mileage

                                W2D1...here's what I did....
                                1-5 walk
                                5...jog
                                6:30 walk
                                8:30 jog
                                10:00 walk
                                12:00 jog
                                13:30 walk
                                15:30 jog
                                17:00 walk
                                19:00 jog
                                20:30 walk
                                22:30 jog
                                24:00 walk
                                26:00 end

I love my watch! It read 256 calories burned at 26 minutes and then I kept walking at 3.5 mph until the 33 min mark and burned a total of 319 calories . Oh, and I was walking at 3.5-3.7 mph and jogging at 4mph...
