Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

So I'll decide tomorrow if I'll continue week 1 or move onto week 2.

What are your thoughts on doing it more than 3 days a week? I know it says to go slow but I really do like doing this a lot.

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

Irishmom---can't wait to hear how today went. This really is a great program, isn't it? I think if you enjoy it maybe just stick to the 3 days a week and try to avoid the burn out and allow yourself to ease into the program? I'm not sure myself. I'm just trying to avoid burn out and focus on long term of trying to exercise to help move the fat with doing this program, (hopefully very successful) maybe run a 5k, and Turbo Jam. Maybe find something else you enjoy doing on the alternative days. Gosh, I'm sorry if I may not be any help. I hope whatever you decide works well for you! Be sure to keep us posted!

      Week 4 Day 1...DONE!

I was okay through out the first rep of jog, walk, jog, and then praised highly of the middle walking of 2 1/2 minutes! The endorphins must have kicked in to gear because I made it through the last jog and walk, but I started petering out at the last 5 minutes...I even lowered my mph from 4.0 to 3.7. I figured if I went at a slower jog that I'd make it. I did! I ended up walking about 2 minutes afterwards to try to get my heart rate back down to some normal range and then stretched a lot! And I didn't stop sweating until even after my shower and sat down to eat breakfast. I guess this was a good day.

Does anyone feel the hamstrings start to burn more in the longer interval jogs? I stretch really well, or so I think, before I begin...maybe it's just the fat burning!! Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks Lisa. I do actually do other things on my none C25k days. I was just curious. I actually think you're advice is good to not overdo it otherwise I'll get burnt out.

So I decided to move onto week 2. Oh my it was hard but really good at the same time, if that makes sense. What I really love about the program (besides the fact that it's doable) is that I'm so busy trying to remember to breathe and pay attention to the timing. I don't get bored because I'm so busy. It seems to go by really fast to which is nice.

Week 2 was cool. I was able to do all of the jogs without too much problem. The last jog I was pretty winded but not too bad. I love this workout it rocks!

Cool! Winded is gooooooood! I'm glad you really like the program, Irish. I understand where you're coming from with really liking it and feeling accomplishments and not bored because of having to constantly keep track of what's next (maybe that's what I'm feeling and knowing that I can actually jog without passing out...lol).

Well, I did my "something different" this afternoon because I was bored--- I just broke open my new Turbo Jam---Cardio Party 40 mins. I REALLY don't want to burn out on exercise all together...but I was bored and boredom leads to eating for me. Thankfully I have something to do .

          Play hard!

You know, I really like it (for now). I have Slim In Six, Walk Away the Pounds, Power 90 (just a few videos of his), and now the 5 videos of Turbo Jam. I'll let you know how I really like it after I've mustered the gumption to make it through all 5 of the videos of Turbo Jam...

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

                Good morning!

I hope everyone is having a great day. I can't wait to hear how everyone is doing. You know what day it is--time to play hard!

I'm wiped out today. I did Turbo Jam's Turbo Sculpt yesterday (I actually like it...it's challenging and I felt the muscles working) and that really got the best of me. I had to soak in hot water, take 2 IBprofin, and my DH gave me a back rub. I didn't hurt this morning, amazingly. But I woke up just exhausted. I felt good during this work out, but now I could take a nap. Gosh, I thought exercise was supposed to be energizing! I hope it shows up some time soon. I could use a little boost. Isn't there an energy fairy somewhere???

                Today's workout...
                1-5 walk 3.0-3.5 mph
5-8 jog 3.7---a muscle above my ankle on my left foot was starting to hurt. I backed off from jogging and just walked trying to put the pressure on my right foot instead and just used the rest of the time to walk it off. That seemed to work pretty well. I think it needed a little more warming up this morning.
                8-9:30 walk 3.5
9:30-14:30 jog 3.7 and no problems with that muscle
                14:30-17:00 walk 3.5
                17:00-20:00 jog 3.7
                20:00-21:30 walk 3.5
                21:30-26:30 jog 3.7
26:30-30:00 kept jogging at 3.7 and tempted fate a little...I wanted to see how far I could go with this pace and found my mental block at 30:00. 30:00-33:00 walked 3.5 down to 2.5 to lower heart rate

                Play hard!!

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

Hey everyone. Good job Lisa! I was wondering about Turbo Scuplt. I can't decided if I want to do Turbo Scuplt or P90X...hmmmmm..

I did day 2 of week 2 today. I barely made it. By the second jog I was really winded. It was a really tough day for me. Did anyone struggle on week 2?

                  C25k W2 D2:
Warm up walk @ 2.0 speed
                  Jog for 90 seconds @ 4.0 speed
                  Walk for 2 minutes @ 2.8 speed
                  Distance: 1.20 miles
                  Total Time: 25 minutes

My cool down walk was like 30 seconds. I was really behind schedule today, I had to cut the cool down short or I would have been late for work

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

                    Hey gang!

I'm still in week 4, but will have to repeat it next week. Unfortunately, I twisted my right ankle yesterday and it's a lovely shade of purple today, so no running tomorrow. I'm pretty bummed about that and right before the holiday. Ugh! Hopefully, I *can* run next week. We'll see.

Irish, P90X is a TOUGH workout!! We own a vast majority of BeachBody products, and it's the most intense of the lot! We're planning on ordering the new workouts for P90X because that's suppose to be even tougher. I have not tried Turbo Scupt, only TJ, but I heard it was a good workout also.

My favorites are the Debbie Sieber workouts: Slim in 6 and Slim Series (the upgrade to Slim in 6). I started with her workouts and then tried Power 90, but that seemed too easy. My friend started with Power 90 and then tried Slim in 6, and she said it was too hard! LOL There's something for everyone, it seems. Hope you find one that suits you.

                    Have a great holiday!

Re: Calling all new C25K participants!!!

                      Hello!

Is it hot enough for you, yet? It's just beginning to start reaching the 100s and my hair is starting to friz a bit. Oh yea.

Irish, Good job getting through day 2! I think week 3 was the toughest to get through for me (I'll have to read back and double check that myself). I dunno, maybe it was my mental block and the heavy breathing? Do you think if you lowered your mph that might work and then slowly build up the mph later? I'm going to give it a shot from here on out to just jog at 3.7. That seems slow, but I'm going to try to focus on time instead of speed and distance for the moment.

I like TJ sculpt, but I'm not sure about P90's...I don't have the P90X, that must be different that the one that I have (of course I have the older versions because they came from the local thrift stores ).

Bio, gosh, that's got to hurt! Take care of that foot. I guess you'll be getting out those dvd's for floor work and stay off that foot for a week

Who are we missing? I thought there was like 5 or 6 of us? I'll have to scroll back and see.

Today's my "other exercise" day...Turbjo Jam Cardio Party. I had to run to the store and a few errands while the girls gladly stayed home and hung out in the AC. When I came back, I was sweating up a storm and was in the mood to get the TJCP done--- they were both glistening and out of breath laid out on the floor. Lo and behold, the turkeys had been doing TJCP while I was gone . DD9 decided she'd do it again with me, but she chickened out about 5 minutes into it.

                      I'm ready for tomorrow!

Have a great day. See you tomorrow. Enjoy the holiday!

day of a hard week with C25K. Yea me!!!!!

It wasn't that it was hard to keep going once I started jogging today (the other ones were...ugh), it was trying to stay focused through the times. Maybe I'm mentally ready to move on to the next week afterall. I guess won't know until I try on Monday.

Lisa - Yeah it was 69 degress here today...haha....

I finished week 2!!! Yay!!! It wasn't too bad today. I had a hard time focusing on my breathing. I did alright breathing wise but I noticed that my mind kept wandering and all of a sudden I would realized that I had stopped my normal breathing pattern (2 quick in through the nose, 2 quick out from the mouth). Either way it went well. I'm totally intimidated to start week 3. I have a couple of days off from C25k so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, hehe.

It turns out that I don't have Turbo Sculpt afterall, thought I did...so I'll be starting the P90X ones soon!

Irish---are you ready for week 3? I know it'll be a great one for you!

                              Bio---how's that ankle?

C25K Week 5 Day 1 DONE! I'm so excited that I've reached this far!!! I for see myself repeating this week next week. I thought that same thing with week 3, but this is the longer times for jogging and miles. I don't want to focus on miles right now, just times. I increased my walking time to increase my jog time--and it worked. I think I have more endurance during these intervals with the help of working on with Turbo Jam on Tue and Thurs (just doing something at least) and increasing my speed a little.

Here's the scoop on what I did today...interval---miles reached/mph for interval
                              1-5 walk---.25 mil/3.5 mph
                              5 jog--- .58 mil/3.8 mph
                              10 walk--.75 mil/3.7 mph
                              13 jog---1 mil/4.0 mph
                              18 walk--1.25 mil/3.7 mph
                              21 jog---1.6 mil/4.0 mph
                              ***26 minutes and 1.6 miles***
cool down walk for 3 minutes

                              Have a great one!
                              Play hard!

                                Can I get a "HOLLA"!!!!

I moved onto week 3 and I survived!!! Woo hoo!!!! It was really tought but I figured out a way to stay focused. Being the uber Catholic that I am, hehe, whenever I had to jog for 3 minutes I would say some Hail Mary's and offer them up for something. It was a really good idea that I did that because I totally had to concentrate on that. I didn't even look at the time that much. I think that if I was just listening to my music and breathing I would have been staring at the clock the entire time.

It was such a good workout. I am so proud of myself for moving onto week 3. I was so intimidated by it too.
