I actually started in the middle of the week so I've only done the first 2 workouts so far. Hopefully I can do the third tomorrow so I can start week 2 on Monday. If not I will just do day 3 Monday and start week 2 on Tuesday. I like to do it on the treadmill and my gym is closed on Sunday. I had been doing a 10 minute run 5 days a week before I started this so so far it hasn't been too hard but I know it will be soon. Sounds like everyone here is doing great though so that makes me feel better. I hope I can get through the whole thing.
Also, I found this cool checklist if anyone is interested:

Good luck with week 7, Lisa! It sounds like a really challenging week! Yikes!! I know you can do it though. You're one tough (low carb) cookie! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you make it to two miles.

Vanessa, of course you can get through this program! Were you able to workout yesterday? Thanks for posting the link to that website. I *love* checklists!

Irish---when you get back, just know I thought of you as I watched an old Lucy shows (after the I love Lucy shows) with Carol Burnett. I laughed and laughed....

Vanessa----how's week 2 going for you? Thanks for the link! I'll have to browse through that one in a minute.

Bio---how's week 5??? I bet you're doing better than I did!!! thankgoodness you said LC cookie...lol...I didn't make 2 miles, but I'm slowly getting there.

Week 7....well, let me just say, I think you really need to find a comfort place in your mind and just let go. That's the hardest part for me right now. Maybe because I'm on my treadmill and I have to think about not falling off???

I slowed my MPH down to 4.0, and I think that's the right speed to keep going...I'm thinking I might even have to go slower. My DH suggested I think about going out side to see what it's like on real land----maybe next week. I can see myself staying at week 7 until I reach a 2 mile jog---maybe one more week.

            Walked 5 minutes 3.5 mph
jogged for 25 minutes 4.0 mph---this was a killer! OMGosh!!!.
            walked 2 minutes 3.5 mph
            2 miles in all

            Play hard!!

Just dropping in on your wonderful thread again.
Just saying, if it helps, that I certainly do not run that fast. I started in March with the C25K and am probably a lot faster now than I was then but even now I doubt that I run much over 4 miles an hour on even a good day. We all have different strengths and I am better at endurance (but going slow). So don't be afraid to slow it down if you have to. It will get a bit faster over time. Most people who talks about learning how to run will tell you build up distance before speed.

Thanks for that insight, Liv! I'm glad to hear what you've experienced and learned from others. Slow makes sense. I truly think I'll be heading in the slow jogger lane. Hey, at least I'll be able to keep up with my DH as he prepares to "walk" the 5K on Thanksgiving...

Hi guys! I just finished up week 1 today and I am starting week 2 tomorrow (I know that's kind of weird but I started in the middle of last week.)
Lisa - If slowing down your speed makes you able to run the whole way then do it! I for one would much rather run an entire 5K slowly then run fast and have to walk part of the way.

Also, as far as running outside goes, I read somewhere once that running on an incline of 1 emulates the same level of difficulty of running outside. Has anyone else heard that? It seems like it makes sense.

Anyhoo, good luck this week everyone.

I'm a *slow* jogger as well....and if you can believe it...I even have a slower pace for when I need to get that last lap in, but don't want to walk. This "jog" is *slower* than my walking speed. LOL

So on Monday, I tried to do week 5 training, but when I started running, my body said "NO!" so I just stuck with walking. Weird, eh? My legs just started cramping and I felt like I had no energy. This morning I tried again and was able to complete week 5, day 1 round 2 training. It was hard for me, but at least no weird cramping that stopped me in my tracks. Maybe I didn't stretch enough on Monday????

Thanks for visiting, Liv! It really helps to have tips from someone that's done this training before! Feel free to visit anytime!!!

Lisa, I know what you mean about jogging the 5k while hubby walks. We joked about that the other night! LOL

Vanessa, great job with finishing up week 1. Feels great, doesn't it? I haven't heard about raising the incline to make it more difficult like the outdoors, but it makes sense.

Yea Vanessa getting week 1 done! I have heard about that incline thing before. I think I'll have to give it a whirl to see how that works. Have "fun" on week 2

My seems jogging speed is exactly like my walk....lol....gosh, that's just funny to me for some reason (maybe because it's really sad to admit ).

Bio, I was thinking that on Monday's I have a heck of a time trying to get back in the game of my exercise week and it seems like my body takes forever to get into gear....it's like going from stop through 17 gears at a green light and finally making it through the last gear when the light turns yellow. The body just doesn't want to go. Maybe a warm up exercise to warm up the muscles etc. is necessary on Monday mornings...no wonder I hate Monday mornings.

Okay, I'm calling day 2 of week 7 done...

I went outside this morning and did this work out. I know, I was amazed myself. The girls were still trying to crack open their eye lids and the sun was starting to get up. I figured I might as well start today and see what I can do outside.

                      5 minutes of walking
30 minutes of jogging---it was the longest 30 minutes of my life!!!! I swear the little old lady who walks all over town could pass me up like I sitting on jackstands!

I don't even know how far I actually jogged today because I just focused on my mintues. The 5 minutes walking was just getting out of our subdivision and then I headed down town. Thankfully I only saw two people I know---one doesn't count because he's a mailman on a different route. I liked going outside, but I missed knowing how far I've gone, etc. It was a different change of scenary at least

So Lisa...are you saying that you *desire* to run 30 minutes now? hee hee! Sometimes I wonder what the heck we've gotten ourselves into. What were we thinking?!?!?

Gosh, isn't that funny, Bio? I never would have imgained jogging 30 minutes straight 7 weeks ago. Gasp gasp gasp!!!!! Good job getting week 5 almost finished! I bet you'll be able to do day 3 tomorrow. I saw you did an extra 60 minutes today for the Atkinsnation challenge----you go, girl!!!

Irish---how'd today go???? You still breathing????

Is this your day off, Vanessa? Week 2 almost 1/2 done for you right?

Week 7 Day 3 DONE DONE DONE....did I mention Done????

5 min walk at 3.0 mph....I got in .20 of a mile at this point when I started jogging...it was a slow walk to match my slow mood...lol....

25 minutes jogging at 3.7 mph.....but I kept going. I figured I was already at 30 minute mark for this workout, what's another few more minutes for the Atkinsnation challenge? Okay, it was a lot!!!! Talk about gasp, gasp, gasp.....

                                so....

I ended up jogging another 7 mintues to reach my 2 mile jogging milestone in one workout session, and then walked another 8 minutes to cool down...uhm, I mean, melt down. I was a pool of stinky sweat.

Those extra 15 minutes are for the Atkinsnation challenge. I would have done more, but I had nothing left in me.

Now that I know I'm capable of jogging more than 30 minutes at a time (heaven help my brain function!!!) and I know I am able to jog 2 miles at one time (that takes more than 30 minutes), I'm going to shoot to work on week 8 starting Monday. I think just working on minutes is what I'll focus on instead of miles still.

Have a restful and peaceful weekend----but play hard, too!!!!
