Hi Clogger!!! I'm glad you're still exercising and that you've gotten the ok to clog or jog. You'll be joining us before you know it! Please let us know how your first day back of clogging goes.

Lisa, I've been focusing on distance instead of time. It's easier for me to keep track of laps than watching the clock. Once I jog my first 5k at the end of the training, I'll start focusing on time along with distance.

I like detailing cars and keeping it clean. Hope you sell your truck and get a good price on it. What kind of car do you think you'll trade it for?

Irish, your post made me worn out! I can't imagine leaving work at 2:30 AM!! Yowza! Good luck on getting finishing week 6 AND starting induction.

Hope everyone else is having a good start to the weekend! Happy Friday!!

Eric, how's the weeks treating you?

Where's the other gals who were going to join us? I miss their posts too.

Take care of you, Clogger! I don't blame you---I choose the hobby that loved the most, too. I think you'll do great!

Irish--you must be a night owl. Gosh, I admire you....working those hours plus C25K and family! I haven't worked those late hours in years---and I was about 15 years younger, too. I know I couldn't do it now...I'd fall asleep by 9pm no matter where I was.

Bio---that makes sense if you're able to keep track of the distance than the minutes. I still haven't made it to the track--it's too hot!

Well, we have a nice clean/detailed truck to drive (once in a while) still. The deal fell through because the dealer said we have a gasgusler (no kidding) and offered us mo payments higher than we're paying on the truck...about $50 more. We said no thanks, we'll keep the gasgusler for another year, aim to pay it off, save up a good size down payment with my income, and then buy the car that I want. It was an 04 Camry that we were looking at buying for a steal of a deal---maybe that's why they didn't want our gasgusler, it was too good of a deal. It's okay, I'm for "if it doesn't work, it wasn't meant to be". So, now I get to research more and save on the car that I want instead of the deal of the century (gosh, it was a great deal, too!).

      Yesterday...
      I walked 2 miles, that's it.

      Today....
I'll be back to update, I'm just waking up,doing laundry, and getting things straighted out for the coming week...yipee!

Quick check-in on Saturday morning prior to celebrating three birthdays: Our youngest son turned 4 yesterday, I turn old on Monday, and our soon to be adopted daughter turned 1 yesterday on the other side of the globe (China)!

Despite all the activity around the house, I managed to get out for W2D3 -- I definitely need to check with a professional on the shin splints, they are really getting to me. Still, I managed 10 laps, probably due to a quicker walking gait. I also managed to jump rope 100X before I was too winded. Hopefully that effort will offset any airborne carbohydrates in the house due to birthday cake and ice cream today!

I'll report again on Monday for W3D1. Woot!

Great job, Eric, and happy belated birthday! Sounds like a doc visit is necessary. Hope they don't bench you, or atleast hope they give you other alternatives, from C25K. You're doing great!

Ah thanks Lisa, don't credit me with too much. This week was so out of hand because of my crazy hours I honestly didn't do ANY workouts....boo to me. Oh well I'll get back on track this coming week, so obviously since I didn't finish week 6 I'll be restarting it again. I'm back eating correctly so at least that's something

I promise I'll get back on track on Monday!

Hey Eric. Is the pain in your legs on the inside of the front of your lower legs or the outside? I learned a few months ago that shin splints are on the inside, not the outside.

A co-worker of mine had to have surgery to relieve the pain on outside of her right leg. She had exertion compartment syndrome.

              Just curious...

Thanks for the clarification, Clogger! My shins are painful just slightly inside of center, but I have no idea if they are splints or something else entirely. I do know that it doesn't seem like there is any muscle in that area -- pretty much skin and bone, right where the top of the foot rolls into the leg. I'm hoping a doc or fitness guru can clarify what the real problem is and (hopefully) the solution!

W3D1 over and out. I dropped back to 8 laps thanks to what seemed like less total jogging, but more per interval (2x 3 minutes plus some 90 second stretches). The shins are killing again of course -- a sports therapy friend suggested some stretches to help so I'll give it this week to see what happens before making a dr. appt. Hope everyone else is staying healthier than me and keeping an eye on their respective goals! I'm hoping not to be out of commission come Thanksgiving Day!

P.S. Clogger -- being so close to ONEderland is awesome! Can't wait to see that number "1" for you! Irish -- don't fail me now! I need to know you are ahead of me so I still have that proverbial carrot to catch up to while I'm out busting my shins! Lisa -- I figure gas for the guzzler with its car payment is likely cheaper than less gas with a newer car and a higher monthly payment. Besides, soon enough you'll be jogging everywhere to complete your chores! (LOL)

                      Hi everyone!

It looks like you are all progressing steadily, though with some wobbles as to be expected - congrats

I was wondering if I could join you?? I am in serious need of motivation. I have 5k race in three weeks (arghhh - have been in denial). I can barely run 5 mins...urghh. I have done this programme several times before and regret letting my progress slip.

If I may join, I'll be starting at week5 (which is going to be TOUGH) because time is tight....

We voted on the leg and arm shaving, Eric, that's how we initiated you into the fold (lol....) And, jogging to do the chores and errands---only if there's a treadmill under my feet ....on a serious note, I sure hope you don't have to head to the doc and that the suggestions work well for you. Nice job beating up week 3 already!

Yea, Alexa is joining in our merry band of "I can't believe we're actually doing this to ourselves!"....and going for the gusto of doing the 5k to boot! How exciting. Yes, bring your posts over here and share...we need to know the torture, er, uhm, experience you're going through to get there Oh, week 5...now that was, well, it was week 5. There are no words to describe the weeks after the number 3......great job, Alexa!!!

How did the rest of you all doing???

I'm doing the "it's monday and I don't feel like it but I will because I need to release some energy" shuffle. I've been on my feet most of the day and I have to go hit the treadmill to pound on that for a good solid 40 minutes (or so)...woo hooo! I'll be back later to report the results...for now, I'm winding down and catching up on a few things.

                            I'll be back

Well I attempted W6D1 again and it didn't work out too well....... Lesson learned: don't run on an empty stomach and when dealing with TOM. I was able to get about 1.20 miles in with some walking. I got an important phone call while I had started my first 5 minute run that I had to take so I took my treadmill down to a walk, then I ran the first 5 minutes (when I was done with the call) and was able to get about 4 minutes of the 8 minute run in. I had to stop though because I almost hurled, and my body just didn't feel right. Afterwards it took me about an hour to get back to where I didn't feel like I was going to faint if I stood up (doesn't make it very easy on watching the toddler when you feel you might faint).

Well, I will attempt Day 1 again tomorrow AFTER I eat something!!!!
