I don't know why there's a difference to why my calves burn compared to your thighs. I guess we just move differently??

Thanks for the link to that song, Irish. I like it! We need all the motivation we can get!!

To correct something I wrote in my last post...my day 3 will be on Saturday, not Friday. Somehow, I'm getting my days of the week all messed up. LOL

        Hi, Girls!

I've been attempting to post from my DH's computer earlier today--it has a mind of it's own! I think it's programmed just to run for him.

Gosh, you both are doing fantastic! I'm so proud of both of you.

Oh, the burn! It must mean that we're doing it right---burning the fat, aka: burn. My thighs burned like nobody's business today! I hope it means we're doing something good----and nothing's trying to rip apart. Although it feels like my body could be pulled in numerous directions when I'm done. C25K must be modeled after the Midevil contraptions.

Bio----Yeah, week 5 is scary, hard, and you almost want to chicken out if it weren't for the darn fact that you've come this far....why stop now? How's that for motivation? That's funny about the hats, too bad we couldn't market something for the Olympics...lol.... You've really ripped up the week wtih getting back on track with C25K and telling that injury to go take a flying leap! I'm totally in awe of your determination! Can't wait to hear how tomorrow goes. It's going to be great!

Irish---oh, wow! You're really doing great! Check out that time! I truly enjoy listening to MWS...he's a classic. Ranks right up there with Amy Grant and BeBe and CeCe Winans and Rebecca St. James, and, I could go on with my classic favorite artist from the 80s/90s....lol...That's an awesome song. Thanks for sharing it. You're moving on to week 4 right?

Okay, this stanza got to me just reading the music...reminded me of our "burning" sensations in the thighs and calves and getting through C25k!!

"But I've seen your eyes -no compromise
When you set your mind on a matter
Be strong through the tears (yeah, during the burn!)
        And your sight will clear
You're gonna get what you're after" (may it be weight loss and a health life style!)

        Okay, so....

I'm officially calling week 5 done! Yes, I'm mooooving on. I think 2 weeks at week 5 has really helped me...I was willing to do another week, but I think I'll give week 6 a try and see how it goes. I'm trying to foucs on time instead of miles and it worked today...I'll plan on doing the same for next week.

        5 min walk....1/4 mile....3.5mph
20 minutes jogging....1 and 1/2 miles....4.2 (WOO HOOOO!!!!) I'm so excited..it was just the highlight of my week!!!
        5 min walk....cool down....1/4 mile....3.5-3.0

The burn occured some where between the 1 mile and I had to just slowly plow through it. I felt like a lopping bunny trying to get through the dry thistle grass.

I think the slower pace was the best to get through it.

Have a restful night tonight! Play hard tomorrow!

Great job Lisa!! Way to finish week 5!!!

I finally finished week 4 on Saturday. I feel confident in moving onto week 5. I've looked ahead to week 5 and I may do two weeks of it as well. I go on vacation at the end of week 5 so I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep it up while on vacation so a repeat may be in order. I'm going to try to keep it up but well I'm not gonna lie I'm a treadmill runner. I don't like heat. I won't have access to a treadmill on vacation but at least the land is flat where I'm going so I'll try.

Either way I've stuck to this plan for a month now! Crazy awesome! Hope you gals are doing well!

Irish--- yea for finishing week 4!!! oooooh...weeek 5. It'll be great. (he he he he he). I think whatevery you can do will be fine, especially if you plan on doing it twice. Sounds like you'll be hitting the road---nice!

Okay, week 6 day 1 done...

I focused on time and not miles today....
            5 mins walk
            5 min jog
            3 min walk
8 min jog..okay this was hard getting back into after walking 3 minutes!
            3 min walk
            5 min jog
and got in 1.9 miles all together

Hello ladies! Hope you are well. Way to kick rump on Week 6 Lisa! I started week 5 today and it was awesome! The first 5 minute jog ended before I knew it. I had to run till 10 minutes (I base on time not distance) and it seemed so easy! The time flew by. The second 5 minute was harder but still I thought it went by quickly. The final 5 minute jog.....HOLY COW!!!!! They want me to run another 5 minutes? Are they kidding????? haha. I made it. I finished it without any unscheduled stops.

The only unscheduled thing happened during my second 3 minute walk when the timer went off for a dish I was cooking. DH had the baby sleeping in his lap (she has a fever ) so I had to jump of the treadmill and run to turn the oven off. I jumped right back.

              How are you doing Bio?

The rest of week 6 looks a bit wild to me. Minutes--I'll focus on the minutes. Yeah, that will get me through it.

Irish, the fact that you mixed "awesome" and "week 5" in the same sentence makes me smile . Good job finishing without stops!!! Week 5 is a doozie to me---but it looks like you're attacking it well! Aaah...poor baby! I sure hope she feel better soon. It's just so sad when they're sick. I was a sucker to hold my girls when they were sick---spent many a nights in the recliner with my youngest.

Okay, Bio---It's Tuesday....where ya at? hmmmmm....?

I was going to do Turbo Jam Scuplt today---but it rained so much that it was a good day for watching videos. I walked 2 1/4 miles on my treadmill watching Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I.---dang, he was hot even back then!!

Sorry ladies! I *am* here, but crazy life is pulling me everywhere. I'm thankful that I workout first thing in the morning, so there's no excuses of not working out for life's little emergencies.

I did finish week 4 on Saturday and felt really great!! However, on Monday with week 5 Day 1...it kicked my butt. This morning wasn't much better, so I'm thinking of doing a combo plan of week 4/5 for Friday. I'm still focusing on distance rather than time. We'll see how that goes. I'm definitely going to have to attempt to do week 5 again next week.

Congrats on starting week 6, Lisa!!! You impress me to no end! You're the trailblazer in this group!

Irish, you made week 5 seem like nothing! Good for you! You're doing a GREAT job!! Hope your little one is doing better today.

                  Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

Yea, Bio!! Congrats on finishing week 4 and moving on butt-kicking-week 5! Darn those emergencies in life. I hope everythings going better for you. You're good with getting things done in the morning!

Welcome, study! nice to have you! Great job finishing today! Post often how you're doing.

Here's my crazy day....it's not getting easy for me, girls.

It's down right hard to keep going each time I face the idea of having to get through another day. But after I do it, I feel like a million bucks! I just wish I had that feeling BEFORE hand. I guess if the prize was at the beginning, I wouldn't want to do it.

C25K Week 6 Day 2---I'll call it done. It was SLOOOOW today! I focused on minutes instead of miles today---I just needed to get through it!

                      5 min walk---3.5 mph
                      10 min jog--4.5mph.....tooooo fast!!!
                      3 min walk---3.5 mph
                      10 min jog---3.7mph-----yes that slow
                      cool down for 2 mins

I knew as soon as I ramped up my mph on the first 10 minutes that I would not be able to make it through the second 10mph. I had images of Tim Conway walking that really funny slow run on the Carol Burnett show---that was me trying to jog!

Lisa - I love the Carol Burnett show! It's been so long since I watched it. Where has good tv gone? Haha, I work in tv too... Good job on day 2!

Bio - Good job in sticking with excercise despite emergencies. I hope everything is ok.

Vanessa - Woo hoo! Another C25k-er!!! You're gonna love it!

Ahhh day 2....not as easy at day 1! I had to run for 8 minutes....I don't have any music that is that long to keep me motivated!!! Ahhhh! I had to put some songs on repeat. The first 8 minutes weren't too bad. The second 8 minute jog was rough, I almost didn't make it. I have no idea how I'm going to run 20 minutes straight on Friday!!! We'll see...

                        C25k W5 D2:
5 Minute warm up walk @ 2.0 speed
                        8 minute jog @ 3.7 speed
                        5 minute walk @ 2.8 speed
                        8 minute jog @ 3.7 speed
                        4 minute walk/cool down @ 2.0 speed
Total Time: 30 minutes Total Distance: 1.55 miles

I'm basing everything on time for now. It seems that the 8 minutes I should have covered 3/4 a mile but I didn't get there, if I jogged 2 intervals of 3/4 a mile than I should have jogged at least 1.5 miles; my total distance with walking was that. I think my speed is too slow. I've decided to stick with the times and when I conquer that I'll work on upping my speed.

Lisa, that week 6 program sounds like a killer workout! I should stop complaining about week 5! LOL

Irish, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you on that 20 minute run. I know you can do it!!!

I think I'll just do some fast walking tomorrow morning.

Irish---have a fantastic vacation!!! Carol Burnett RULES!!! Focus on nothing and get through that 20 minutes! You can do it!!!!

Bio---Woo hooo! Waiting to hear how week 5 ends for you. Are you moving on to week 6? Week 6, well, find a comfortable speed and just, well, breath as you go...lol.. There are no words for it. But you've been doing really well over the past 5 weeks---I bet you'll do great.

Vanessa---how'd it go today? Are you moving on to week 2 next week? You'll do great!

Week 6 done for me! I'm moving on to week 7, which is bascially 3 days of week 6 day 3.....jog straight for 25 minutes. Yea. Wooohppeee. I'm still going to focus on just minutes and let the miles tick by. I'm only 1/4 of a mile behind in my time, but I'm okay with that. I will laugh myself silly if I make it to 2 miles or better next week.

                                5 minutes walking---1/4 mile, 3.5 mph
                                25 minutes jogging---1 and 3/4 miles, 4.0 mph
                                3 minutes walking----3.0 mph almost a 1/4 of a mile....

Have a fantastic and safe weekend!

                                My dd12 turns 13 tomorrow---
