Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Had my OB appointment yesterday. Got put on blood pressure pills, but no bed rest yet. Hoping to make it a bit further with their help, although they are making me really sick. I just keep telling myself, one day at a time!

Sorry to hear about the BP pills Mari....hopefully you will get to carry this baby to full term...or as close as possible with no bed rest. I'll be praying for ya!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Hi Sashy and Iyshia. Actually, things got a little worse. By Friday, I had gained steadily three pounds a day, and called my doc. He took my off the pills, not knowing wether it was the pills or the beginning of preeclampsia again. Thankfully it was the pills, because after 12 hours being off, no further weight gain...so far. My BP has also been steady. I'm beginning to look forward to the end of this roller coaster. But at the same time, it could be so much worse. I started having serious complications with my DS somewhere between week 12 and 18. I'm at 24, and still up and on my feet. God willing I make it all the way. 15 weeks to go...I just gotta keep thinking about that.

Sashie...how are things going for you? Are you on bedrest still? Have you had any more trouble with the preterm labor?

Iyshia...has your morning sickness gotten any better? I hope so!

          Have a great week everyone!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Hopefully your BP doesn't increase, we're rooting for ya!
I went in about a week ago had some really bad menstrual type cramps with contractions. The nurses told me I was 50% effaced and soft, but my contractions weren't showing up on the monitor (I don't remember them showing up for ds #2 either when I went into pre term with him). They treated me for a UTI even though the test came back negative.. was some kind of bacteria present they said so they treated me anyways. My follow up appointment the next day a new doctor told me that I wasn't effaced and not even soft or station 2 like the 2 nurses the previous day had reported. I don't know what is going on, but last Monday I was in alot of pain.. it slowly died down till Thursday when I started taking some Benadryl for my allergies/cold. Later I read that some midwives give benadryl to treat pre term labor, so I stopped taking it (not that I like to take meds to begin with).. and am now having well.. prolly braxton hicks contractions but more normal that usual ... throughout the day. Not as painful as Monday but I'm trying to pay attention without being paranoid. I made my doc mad I think by asking for her to refer me out to my old doctor for a second opinion after a doctor told me that my cramping/contractions were prior back injury related, I knew at this point that what I was telling them was not really being taken into consideration. I believe that the pains I am having are the beginings of what happened last pregnancy. They are flying my husband off the ship to help with the kids and help me if I end up on "doctor ordered bedrest". Totally wasn't expecting that one. I am hoping that if anything else bad happens for the love of ***, some doctor will actually listen to what I am saying without me having to actually give birth. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, we will see how that goes, if I am shined off as usual. My weight gain sucks from lying around but id rather gain a few extra pounds then have to worry about the baby. I'll be 27 weeks Wed. I'll keep you updated as usual. Hope your week gets much better!

              Mari,
really glad that you are still up and on your feet! Also good to hear that the BP is holding it's own

              Sashie,
Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time--this is my first child, and I fear all of the things that I see you guys talk about in here. There is so much that can go wrong, and it can all happen at the drop of a hat! I'm praying for everyone's health and healthy babies and deliveries.

It's great to come here and talk to you guys----feels great knowing that someone can relate to how I feel and what I'm going through physically.

              Thanks for being here,
              Iyshia

Sashie, I'm SO glad your DH is being flown home!!! How exciting for you! Will he be able to stay for the rest of your pregnancy? That would be so great. Lord knows how much the help comes in handy. I hope things get better for you, and your little one hangs in there as long as possible. I can't imagine having to go through what you're dealing with with insensitive doctors! Can't they for once put themselves in your shoes for a bit???

And Iyshia... We're glad you're here too! You know, most pregnancies do progress in the normal fashion. There just aren't alot of them here on this board I'm afraid! You can be our role model! lol I wish I could change the title to this thread, because its not so lonely in here since you gals came in to make it more fun! As healthy as you've become, and as hard as you worked at it, I think you'll be fine, Iyshia! I really do!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Thanks Mari! The doctor I see is pretty good, she is just following protocol and until I have cervical change they cant really diagnose me. I understand their position, I just hate to wait until it gets worse to be treated I guess lol. Hopefully the hubby will be home till the baby is born... the trip he was on was totally unexpected and spur of the moment thing. Something I fully understand and accept being a military wife, as I said before I am surprised they sent him home.. I fully expected to just deal with this on my own as normal. I guess its just one of those things. It sure will be nice to have him help out though!

Iyshia, my first pregnancy was completely normal. I just had a surgery after I had him and my old doctor told me it weakened my cervix. It could be far worse! I have heard of 3 women so far in the last month that have had to have emergency c-sections instead of receiving meds to try and stop/slow pre term labor and I think that just scares me.. makes me want to ask... who was your doctor again? Don't let my venting scare you off, having a baby is a wonderful thing and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything! Well... maybe for a chance to see my husband go through it.. just once though!

You ladies hang in there, your doing great!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Hi Sashie! Is DH home yet? Just a moment to tell you thank you to your hubby for what he does for our country, and thank you too for the sufferings you go through supporting him. It brings tears to my eyes everytime I think of what our soilders/ sailors/ airmen/ marines are going through right now, and even more when I think of what their families are having to go through. SO GLAD he gets to come home to you and your children!!

Problems are mounting with my Preg. My BP is up now, and my swelling has become severe. My hands and face were very swollen this morning, and all my joints are stiff from it. My feet and ankles were so big that the new bigger shoes I bought were tight this morning. So, it'll be back on bp pills tomorrow, and maybe on to bed rest. I'm thinking its time, even if doc. doesn't. Gotta get closer to term this time!!! Not only do I want my baby healthy, but we don't have as good of insurance, so I couldn't afford another $120,000 baby/ delivery like the first. Xibs was in the hospital for 7 weeks!!! Then he had to have a surgery when he was close to a year old. Poor baby...gotta keep this bun in the oven longer!

                    Have a great Sunday everyone!

Blood pressure pills are not working. I'm now looking at most likely being admitted to the hospital tomorrow after my appt. with a perintologist. I'm scared to death...this baby is in no way ready to come out, and I'm terrified of all the complications that would come from such an early birth, if he/she even makes it alive. Trusting in God....what else can I do?

Maribelle, you are in my prayers! I hope that everything comes out okay for you and that you don't end up spending the rest of your time in the hospital. I don't know much about high blood pressure so I don't really have much advice for you. I just wanted to let you know that we are all hoping things go well. How far along are you now? I was told at 24 weeks they are able to survive outside of the womb. Of course we never want our babies born early. I am sure the doctors will do whatever they can to keep you and that baby safe and healthy! Thinking of you.. hang in there girl!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

I am 26 weeks tomorrow. We are hoping to keep baby in oven for another few weeks at least. I was in the hospital over the weekend, but they were finally able to find a med that worked on my bp, and the blood flow to the baby is still good, so for now I'm on complete bed rest again, but not in the hospital. Thanks for your thoughts! Its very appreciated.
Supposedly its a boy...but I have my doubts about the technician who did the sonogram. She was in a big fat hurry, and said she was seeing a boy, but didn't show us anything that would have indicated that, and only gave us one really crappy picture that we can hardly even identify. So the next one I get is on Friday, and I'm going to ask for proof...although I did jump the gun and start crocheting a little blue blanket. I'm loving the name Isaac, so I guess I can stand another boy, lol.

I just recently joined this forum and had read about your problems with this pregnancy, I want you to know that you and your baby are in my prayes. I am very glad that you are able to be home right now, and hope that you can stay at home for a great deal longer before your baby is ready to make his debut! Good luck.

                              Hello all,

I wish I had joined sooner. I have been hanging out in the calories burnt challenge only for the purpose of staying active. This is baby #3 for me. Atkins has helped me avoid the gestational diabetes that normally comes with my pregnancies. My 1st pregnancy was 11lbs 2 oz and my 2nd pregnancy was 10lbs 2 oz after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I'm not sure where the weight is headed this time. The doctor is keeping very close watch on me. I never go into labor and have to have c-sections. My other 2 children are 11 and 7 and I must admit I feel a little out of practice in remembering how to do all of this.

Hi Amanda, and BaldSkinny. Thank you for your prayers, they are welcome. My blood pressures have been pretty steady this week, and I go in for another sono this morning, so hoping all goes well.

Bald... I'm so glad to hear Atkins worked for you this go round! My sugar has been really good too, which I attribute to learing what to eat better. I'm totally overwhelmed with the idea of having another baby after all this time, so I'm right with you! I mean....its been 8 1/2 years! I'm scared I'm not going to good with middle of the night wakings that last for hours, and I'm so scared the baby will have colic...something I never dealt with with my DS. Just hoping my parenting skills come back to me in a BIG way! Congrats on your pregnancy, and hoping everything goes perfect for you the rest of the way!
