Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

    Hello,

Mary Elise arrived by C-Section on Jun 4th at 2:53pm. She was 8lb 5 oz,. which is super tiny for me. She has tons of black hair and looks like her daddy minus the goat-t.

First of all, CONGRATS SASHIE AND BALDSKINNY!!!!!! So happy for you on your beautiful little lady arrivals! Hope your getting lots of cuddle time and little sweet baby kisses!

Next, sorry its been so long. I've been really busy what with homeschooling and running back and forth to the NICU. Isaac may be coming home on Monday!!! As of yesterday he weighed 4 lbs. 8 oz. Hes a charmer and a little fighter. He got to take his second bottle, and sucked it down to everyone's amazement in 30 minutes. So, they are preparing me for him to be discharged barring any set backs. I'm pretty confident. I bought his car seat/ stroller combo last night, so I can get his car seat into the NICU for his car seat trial. He has to be able to sit in it for an hour, and not have a problem with his oxygen level/ heart rate/ breathing. So, here's hoping. SO EXCITED!!! It will be great not to have to be running back and forth 35 miles to the hospital every day. He will be on a moniter, which I'm grateful for. He is only on caffine and iron for meds, so not too difficult. Just a healthy little fella!!!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Isaac update: This is copied from my journal. I don't really feel like typing it out again.

As for the bad news. I knew everything was going too well, and had been expecting the proverbial shoe to fall. They informed me yesterday that while doing a routine kidney ultrasound on Isaac to see if he had kidney stones, a common premie disorder, that one of his kidneys was enlarged. On further examination they saw that he had a blockage, and that the finding was typical of hydronephrosis. This means that once he's released we will have to begin taking him to a urologist in Kansas City...no hop skip and a jump, believe me. He will have to have tests, possibly a stent put in, or if that fails, a tube exiting from the back to let his urine out. According to what I found online, his kidney will eventually fail. But at least he has one functioning kindey, so hopefully, all will still be ok. They also found a hernia in his little scrotum. That may also need repair. So.....sigh. At least he's alive, doing well in other things, and will still hopefully come home soon. That is the best part...I'm still longing for the time when he will be in my arms at anytime of the day he wants it.
Good news, he will hopefully be home Monday or Tuesday. The bad news kinda curbed my elevated high at getting a discharge notice, but hey...he's still my beloved little baby, and whatever reasons God has for giving Isaac these challenges, we're up to them! It could have been alot worse, and is not fatal, so YEAH! He's still a beautiful little fella!

Everytime I read about your little one I want to cry for you, for him, for the emotional roller coaster you are all going through. I just want you to know that we are praying for your family. I hope that it is all over soon and that you get to enjoy your little one trouble free. Hang in there, you have strength I think most of us only wish we had at times like these. Just remember that we are here if you need us!

Re: Preggo, On Atkins, and LONELY IN HERE

Hi friends...thank you so much for your prayers last year. Good news is, Isaac is HEALTHY!!! He just turned one on Saturday, and is completely caught up size wise to a term infant of the same age. He is almost walking, loves his big brother (who he thinks is his biggest toy), and is one of the happiest little fellows...most of the time. As for surgeries, none needed as of now. We took him for the last recheck of his kidney in February, and the doc said he saw no back flow at all, nor any sign of a blockage. We will have to take him in once a year from now on, I guess, but thats nothing compared to major kidney surgery. As for the hernia, the same doctor said he couldn't find one, and that he just had hydroseal which would close with time. So...NO SURGERIES FOR MY BOOBOOS. Best luck ladies, with your pregnancies and beautiful babies!

                Hey Ladies,

I thought I'd get on here and give you an update. Maribelle, your son is just gorgeous. I'm not doing Atkins currently but have thought about jumping back on. My little one is almost 15 mos and not walking yet. She has kidney issues as well. What kind of kidney issue does Isaac have? I'm still nursing every now and again, so that is what has me refraining from jumping back on. Mary has Bilateral Kidney reflux and will eventually need surgery. My 8year old just had Surgery for the same condition in July. Evidently this is genetic and runs in families. Hope you are doing well.
