bio, what's your take on the Vitamin D issue. If I missed that discussion, can you guide me to it? My humungo capsules have 1200 mg. Calcium and only 200 mg of D. I was told to have at least 1000 mg of D.
And PS, I'm either 6 months away from being fully menopausal, or I'm pregnant! Doesn't the calcuim become that much more important to me now?

SG, 1000 mg of Vitamin D a day?? The RDA for it is 400 IU, not to mention that our skin will make vitamin D with just a brief exposure to sunlight. Since you're in beautiful, sunny LA, you probably make more of it than most folks in this thread. You can consume too much vitamin D, which will cause excess calcium to be in your bloodstream. This in turn can lead to plaque formation. Don't want that! I believe you're just fine with what you're taking as far as Vitamin D is concerned. If you wish to take a bit more, that's ok as well, but I wouldn't take 1000 or more. Let me know if you wish to have further info.

        Congratulations or congratulations!

For either situation, calcium is important. You'll want around 1000-1500mg of calcium, divided in two or three doses. I'll be posting something in a few weeks regarding menopause. I hadn't even thought about the mom's-to-be.

So many nutrients, so many different situations! What to post next is always a hard choice!

Thanks for the D info Bio! I won't buy any more. Since I work in the yard alot, I suppose that's enough D for me! Maybe we need a sunscreen thread though. I'm really bad about that! I'd rather just put on my Gilligan hat!

SG, you still need sunscreen, even with your cute Gilligan's hat. I'll add SPF and sunscreen use to my list of topics.

I have some sunscreen sitting right on my dresser. I don't know why I hate it so much. My face has those little red lines on it (therefore the potassium I take) and it's all from sun damage.

Yes, I hate them! I've had them zapped on occasion, but they come back. The potassium honestly helps!
