It's cold and windy here today. I've had to make a quick trip to the Municipal building this morning already but I'm hoping I can stay indoors now.

I've spent the last 3 weeks clearing out an old house we just bought and what a mess it was. But the cleaners have been in and are done now, so the renters can start moving in as soon as they're ready. I'll be so glad when it's ready but there are other things that need done too. Like a new roof!

Well, I've done my exercise for today and am looking forward to a nice supper of Pork Chops and fried radishes.

    Have a good one!

Nighttime here - so dark and it's only 5:20 - crazy! Pretty good day so far, busy at work and a quite night at home. My son is home from college, so will be nice to spend some time with him. I'm experimenting with brussel sprouts right now - not sure what I'm having with them - but it's a start!

What a great day it was today! Sunny but cool. Mind you, I worked all day till 6:30 but I did walk over to the grocery store for a few minutes to pick up some broccoli.

We ate out for supper tonight since I was so late getting home, but I was very pleased with myself. I had a Julienne salad which was so big, I brought half of it home for breakfast! So today, I've had 3 salads! 2 of them I made and then supper. And I drank lots of water, even had a customer comment about the size of my "jug". It's one of the WW 32 oz. "mugs" with the straw and handle.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice as well, so perhaps we'll take the Corvette out for one last spin before we put it away for the winter on Sunday. Just have to talk my DH into it

Getting late, and I'm an early bird, so sleep well everyone,

        Suzanne

          Good Morning...
A question.. is it normal to lose only 4 or 5 pounds after the 2 week induction period?

By the way, I am menopausal and aged 53. Also, .. haha... besides that I am a wife, Mother, Grandmother, friend and preschool teacher. I have been under extreme stress due to the death of a child in a car accident, my husband aged 62 having a work related accident, my mother having dementia and my newest sadness, my Daddy died of pancreatic cancer after only knowing about the disease for 6 weeks... why I am saying all this is .. I wonder can stress slow down losing weight.. or is it my metabolism. I have not had time for physical excersize, because I go be with my Mother after work and I work two jobs due to my husband's disability. Not whining here.. I am blessed in so many ways.. just hard times have hit and I am sure times will perhaps get better... just questions as I am only on day 15 of my diet. I do have the "new" 2002 book...I ahve read bits and pieces of it.. when I read I fall asleep ..

Thanks for reading this .. have a great weekend!!

First of all, sorry about all the sadness in your life.
But also to answer your question, it is helpful to put you start weight/current weight/and goal weight and height in your post, or even better, in your signature. Then we can determine how much weight is average to lose for your numbers.

How much are you wanting to loose Taldous? Sorry to hear about your dad....it's exactly what happened to my dad. Only we didn't even know where the cancer was until the autopsy (it was 26 years ago on Oct 29). It's so hard to loose a parent. My mother shows small glimpses of memory loss from time to time now -- she has real good days then days where things aren't so great. Of course the doctors think I'm making things up because she can really rally on doctor visit days.

It sounds like you are doing real good -- remember, we're older, slower, and being female are the 3 strikes against all of us. We understand what you're going through -- so you are in a good place!

Hope to see more of you.

Taldous, I'm so glad you have joined us! Having all that stress in your life does make it difficult to stay with Atkins sometimes, but if you keep the right foods in the house, and keep posting here, you will lose.
My husband has an ongoing health problem (cerebellar ataxia), some days he's good, some he's not. Fortunately he can still work, (most of the time)so that keeps him going. My mother does have dementia and lives 600 miles away in a home that she seems to love. Last time I visited, she didn't recognize me, in fact, she told me she had only 2 girls, not 4 children. So...it was hard, but I expected that, because I don't see her often enough. (She lives in her home province.) If I dwell on it, I really miss my "old" Mum, plus she won't be able to hold or cuddle her second great-grandchild.
Our oldest daughter is expecting their first baby in April, which was a lovely gift, as we weren't expecting her to be able to have children. She had half her "equipment" removed at eleven due to cancer. She's feeling great, and works as an x-ray tech.
I've always been an upbeat person, and have decided that no matter what life throws at me, I am losing this weight, because I am worth it, and I want to look fantastic for our youngest daughter's wedding next year, and I want to be able to run after my grandchild!
I love this way of eating, I don't feel deprived at all, but I try to have the right foods in the house all the time, so whoever is eating here, is eating Atkins Sometimes, they don't even know it, lol.
By the way, I lost about 4.5 lbs during induction, whereas my son and husband lost....well, let's not go there! I'm still losing tho' and reading the book all the way through helped a lot too.

So keep your chin up Taldous, keep us up to date, we're here for you, girl.

                    Suzanne

Boy, what a day. I was supposed to be off work by 2:15 but one of the other tellers went home with a sore throat so I ended up working till 5:15. Poor Lincoln didn't get his afternoon walk
Ate way too many carbs today even if they were all vegie carbs, gotta watch that for the rest of the week.

Tomorrow I'm off, cause the banks are closed for Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day in the States). I'm going to get my orthotics, which is about 1 1/4 hrs drive from home. My appointment is at 10:30 but I'm hoping to be home by 1:30 for the Veterans Parade and service at the Cenotaph. I'll walk the dog early, take my DH to work, then head down to Guelph. I'd like to do some shopping, but I really hate to miss the Remembrance Day ceremony. (My father was a POW during WWII.) Besides, shopping is more fun with someone else.

Well, didn't realize it was so late...I'm up before the birds so have a good night everyone.

Well, good morning all! Got my 20 minute Yoga Zone abs workout done plus my 50 crunches, then did the 12 stair pushups as I was going upstairs I thought these challenges were supposed to get easier? Then I took Lincoln for a fast 30 min. walk, slowing down a bit along the rail trail. Home again and time for breakie. Turnip pancake, yummy. Rick's not feeling well today, so I may have to put off going to Guelph till this afternoon, I'll call and see if that's feasible. But I do need my orthotics, so...I will be going today...I may have to miss the Remembrance Day service though

Other than that, I'd like to do some vacuuming and tidying up today as well, but we'll see how my DH feels later on. Got to remember to drink my water today too. Have a great day everyone

Wow Suzanne!! Sounds like you'll be busy today! I'm still cleaning but now it's drawers - haven't started the last 2 closets yet either! I want to make new kitchen curtains, I have the material all I need to do is take the time and do it.

Decided to make something new and since the hubs brought home 12 jalapeno peppers from some guy at work's garden, I decided to make the jalapeno poppers today -- cut and got rid of the membrane & seeds while I was making breakfast. Figured since I needed bacon for the poppers we'd have the rest for breakfast...it was 3 pieces each! YUMMIE! Having a salad with corned beef and swiss cheese on it for lunch. Dinner is going to be fried chicken...great food day!

I need to get going and start my exercises for the day.

Hi there Carole, got to Guelph for my orthotics. I also looked for running shoes at a store close to where I get my orthotics but they didn't have my size. I really need 11.5 ladies runner, an 11 is just too short and a 12 would probably be too long. I may have to get a man's shoe which would be too wide likely, we'll see. Didn't get any of the housework done once we got home. When my DH isn't feeling well, I tend to tiptoe around making as little noise as possible....Well, gotta get going this morning to walk Lincoln, see you soon
