I'm trying to get my mind away from things I have to leave in the past....BAD FOODS.

I ran across this and think we ALL need to read it once in awhile! I LOVED it!!

plus I was glad to finally get a recipe for Mock Danish- my only "temptation" but legal food had been egg custard or flan....a real treat to me!

My MANY outside cats are really enjoying my "cleaning out the freezer" days...LOL! They are having beef stew today!

Wow, you folks sure have been busy!! We just got back from our daughter's "new" farm house this afternoon. It's 2.25 hrs drive southwest of us, on dry roads. The move this weekend went very well, perfect sunny day, altho very cool. They don't have snow yet, either, and don't get a lot anyway. Instead of taking Christmas lights, I took a bird feeder and a big bag of seed I have 7 feeders and 2 suet holders at home, I love to see the winter birds. H,m,m it looks like it's trying to snow. Farther north of us, they are getting a major snow storm, sweeping across Lake Huron and the Owen Sound area, glad I live down here

Anyway, getting back to the move, the only problem was getting the queen sized box spring up the stairs....it just wouldn't go, even with 4 strapping farm boys pushing and pulling. So...out came the measuring tapes and saw. They cut the wood supports on the underside of the box spring in several strategic places, bent the boxspring (oh look, now we have a futon says Jessi ) and then pushed it upstairs. The next step was to cut a piece of wood to size, pre-drill some holes and screw it into place on the cut supports. It was good as new by the time they were done. Then my DH and I made up the bed and put the side tables in place. Jessi and Andrew said this morning that it was very comfortable. When they move to the main farmhouse in a few years, the box spring will stay. His parents will just have to get a new mattress!

So, now it's back to normal for us, and I have yet to do my exercises today, so I'd better get to it. I work tomorrow but it's a late shift so I'll have time to exercise in the morning, as well as walk the dog. Hope everyone has a great week!

Oh, hey, I forgot my huge news!! I won a trip to Gran Melia, Puerto Rico in February!!! Geez, how could I forget to tell you!! It's through work, so there are about 150 other employees (no spouses) going. I knew I was in the running but never dreamed I would actually get to go, man, it's so exciting We leave Feb.3rd and return Feb.6th, short but sweet Now I have double the reason, well, triple, really, Jessi and Andrew's wedding next Oct., my health, and my trip Wow! I've gotta get "moving"!! and by that I mean exercise!...

Ok, now, everyone have a great week.

Great news Suzanne -- a great weekend with family, winning a cruise & becomming more healthy by the day!! You've got the world by the tail in my book!!

I took an exercise day off today....Tomorrow I am moving to OWL Rung 2 - dairy. I've been wanting cottage cheese for a couple days so I thought I would move up and see how it effects me (hopefully it won't bother me any!!). It's so funny, before Atkins you would have NEVER found cottage cheese in my refrigerator unless mom bought it and was eating it...I found on my first time up the rungs that I had acquired a taste for it...and the 2nd time up the rungs I found I liked it without Splenda or any other sweetners in it...amazing!! LOL

I made 3 small loaves of banana bread, a batch of peanut brittle and a batch of cinnamon candy this afternoon...getting ready for Christmas. Funny now I didn't want any of it. The bread is wrapped in foil and red plastic wrap and in the freezer....all I'll have to do is take the bread out of the freezer, put it in the box and in the car....by the time we get to Des Moines it will be thawed and my brother and the girls will each have a loaf of bread. The candy and cookies we make are such a tradition in our family....we aren't making double batches of everything like we use to - there is no reason to since we won't keep any (or just a few pieces for mom). These are the recipes mom's grandmother passed to her when she lived with her as a child - so they are as much a part of Christmas as family and presents. My brother and his girls would be lost without that part of their Christmas. Even when the girls both had braces they ate "Gram's Christmas goodies".

Well, it's late and I'm so tired -- time to get to bed and get a good nights sleep so the week ahead starts on the right foot! We are having a little sleet/snow outside but so far it's only sticking in the grass....not on concrete, and you really have to look hard to see it in the grass. Hopefully we won't get too much more.

Good morning all Got my exercise in for the day and a third of my water, approx. I was watching a belly dancing CD while I was on the treadmill. I had bought it last year, I might just try some of the workout. I'm not keen on the music though but I can get by that, or just use my iPod for music. The cd has a really good abs workout too.

Gotta work for 11 today and I hear my DH in the shower so I have to go make his lunch. Back later!

Good morning -- I feel like I slept half the morning away...LOL!!! Barrnone and Fancy must get up at the crack of dawn to get everything done! So far I've managed to get out of bed, pour coffee for the hubs and I and make his lunch....oh, also got on the scale ... down 3 pounds. I was hoping for more (don't we always) but after thinking about it I'm very happy with that.

We had flurries in the air last night when I went to bed but it was a weak front that went through (Nebraska, Kansas & Iowa got hit more than we did)....tonight though, we are suppose to have "the big brother of this system" (that's what the weatherman said) so they are predicting about an inch or two by Wednesday morning. It's colder this morning than we've had in recent days ... only suppose to get to 38 today then start raining around mid-afternoon. (If ya know what I mean!!

Mom and I need to go get a few things today -- little Christmas gifts to put under the tree as filler. We have 2 or maybe 3 nice gifts then about 6 small funny things - it's always been that way since I was growing up. So, the nice gifts have been bought and it's time to get some funny things.

              Have a great day ladies!!

Lordy, I do get up early Carole, but, I have no time to go shopping!!! I'm so far behind!! We have to go to London again for a doctor's appt for my DH's kidneys on Friday this week, on my day off (Wednesday) I have my own doctor's appt for some heart palpitations I've noticed this last month. (I notice them when I'm being quiet, like sitting here typing, crocheting, ironing, or standing at my wicket, not when I'm exercising, odd eh?) So maybe this weekend we can shop in London, we'll see.

Anyway, I have to get ready for work and eat something, so I'll see you later

                I love this thread

Hi Everybody! We had snow flurries all day, too, here in Ohio-and cold! I planned to get out and get to the grocery, but never made it- this BP med is making me a bit dizzy and tired- odd for me- and I guess I need to either get used to it of change it-

Made some spinach today but made it sweet and sour- it was good and different! I saw a great recipe for fried cabbage wedges I am going to have to try-love cabbage!

Still very thirsty, too- now I know why I never took meds before! GEEZ! My body is NOT pleased!

Well, I'm back had a good day today too. Carole, I know you've mentioned before that you like mashed turnips, have you ever made a turnip pancake? I do, regularly, and today I cooked one up and took it to work to reheat for my lunch, it was really good. I made myself a shake for breakie, using my second cup of coffee as the liquid, and adding soy isolate protein powder, my Benefibre, and a tablespoon of cocoa. I've had better shakes, I was missing my oil (Udo's Choice 3-6-9 oil) and it could have used an egg as well...next time Supper was sautéed zucchini, peppers, and mushrooms with baked chicken. Very yummy! Oh, I also sprinkled grated cheese on the top of the hot vegies.
I need to make lunches tonight so I have more time to myself in the morning. And I can walk the dog earlier. I'm thinking I may try my belly dancing DVD tomorrow. I did take a class with Jessi one winter and it's lots of fun, sure made me sweat tho'!

Well, must get some things done, dishes, lunches, then crocheting (Gramma stuff) Have a good evening everyone!

Carole, I get up between 4:30-5 am, need to be to work by 6:15. I love morning, so get up early, even on the weekends.

Suzanne, what are you crocheting? I made a little hat/scarf wine topper yesterday [viking colors] and 5 scrubbies [I seel these things]. Also, trying to make the perfect scarf...knit or crochet. I should put all my stuff away, since I don't get much else done!

Here and back up a little bit...seems to be the pattern...Tuesdays are always a little higher than Monday ?? Have to really watch this, and break this trend.

Happy day to all - they are saying 10-14 inches in Wisconsin! Woo Hoo

Hey there barrnone I'm crocheting a baby afghan for my oldest (married) daughter who is due in April. She picked out the pattern, I picked the colours. It's too easy a pattern for me, I prefer intricate patterns, so I will do another one after this is done, maybe even on the knitting machine. I have 2 of them, and would like to do an afghan on the bulky knitter, in the colours she wants. Trouble is finding time....

Gotta work today for 11, so I need to jump in the shower. I did my exercises this morning, but didn't walk the dog. I'll walk him tonight if it's not storming. We are supposed to get stormy weather on Thursday and Friday. I have to take my DH to a doctor's appt. for his kidneys on Friday, and it's 2.5 hours away. We may end up going Thursday afternoon and stay at a friend's house or even Jessi and Andrew's. (Youngest, engaged daughter)

Did you use the treadmill this morning? I reprogrammed mine for a 36 min. workout to some music on my iPod. Tonight I need to do a regular yoga practice.

Well, gotta go get ready, have a good day everyone, see you all later

I do recall that you were going to make this blanket - believe we chatted about it before. I go between wanting simple and wanting intricate...right now, just need to hide the yarn so I can get other things done

I don't do the treadmill in the morning, really don't have time. Only do my quick abs, squats and pushups. Will try to get on it again tonight. My goal is to do something for a hour, just to keep me from sitting and watching tv. I'm thinking about catching up on Desparate Housewives on my laptop - that would probably keep me interested...!

For sure, Desperate Housewives would be awesome to watch! Did you see last Sunday? I'm not sure if that was the season finale or not

Tonight we were at our daughter's so I could take her our Natural yogurt (6% butter fat) to try. She's having problems with heartburn and a little reflux. I think she said she's 22 weeks now We were watching Biggest Loser...made me want to exercise!! The new season starts Jan.5th, I think I'll try to watch it. Maybe we should get another satellite receiver, so I can watch what I want, while I'm on the treadmill!

Jenni also cut Dad's hair for him. I took my crocheting along but didn't do any, I'm getting a sore throat, so I'm doubling up my probiotics and enzymes, to knock it out of my system. Should be gone in a couple of days. I imagine I picked it up at Jessica's last weekend, cause she and Andrew were both fighting colds I didn't get too close to or sit beside Jenni though, don't want her sick!

Well, best get moving to bed soon. We're expecting a huge storm tonight apparently. The radar shows it still south and west of us around Cleveland and Windsor, but it is a biggie. So we'll see what we get in the morning Sleep well and stay warm

Love Desperate Housewives - they didn't show previews for the next show, so maybe it was season finale But, I can still watch re-runs, since I missed quite a few this year.

We have a Snow Day today How cool is that. We just measured 17" in the driveway. It's just crazy. My office never closes down, but the entire city is down today...even the University, my daughter is thrilled.

I think I'm going to make scrubbies today [crochet nylon for dishes, etc] - I love them, and sell quite a few around the holidays. Just got done making 'fire starters', using egg cartons and wax. They are fun to make and we go thru alot at our cottage. Also make some from toilet paper rolls, lint, brown paper and cardboard - these are a little fancier and will make for xmas gifts...just love to make stuff.

Hope you and your daughter are feeling better!

Happy SNOW DAY to everyone :
