Hi Carole...congrats on getting the carpet done! Our house needs new carpet reallllly baaad....and paint, and blinds, and and and....on and on!!! I'm afraid to start knowing it just keeps going!!! HAHA! But I'm proud of you getting it done, that was alot of work, cause it's just like moving !! Just thinking about it tires me out!LOL! Hey, I had a question, regarding water...you seem to drink alot of water, I read somewhere that we should divid our weight in 2 and drink that amount in ounces of water. So my question (as I'm trying to get minimum 8 glasses a day down....but somedays it doesn't happen..I even have to use a time to remind me!!!) anyway, since you started drinking the water, has it made a noticeable difference in your skin looking softer or ??? I seem to have chronically dry skin, on hands, arms and legs, and somedays my face looks dry too. So I'm hoping the water will help my face look better...and help with dry skin in general...Okayyy, that's my 400 word question!! LOL!!!

When I don't drink enough water I can tell in my face and hands -- when I keep my body hydrated my skin looks better and I feel so much better. Rarely do I miss getting enough water in but a couple times a week I challenge myself to drink an extra 8 ounces just for good measure.

I have a 32oz glass I drink out of -- I fill it all the way to the top so it's actually 34oz and I drink at least 3 a day -- I have a straw that helps me drink more without noticing that I'm doing it. It seems to work for me.

If you're having trouble getting your water in you can join the water challenge -- it's a good way to make sure you get enough in -- if you pledge to do it you will make sure you do.

The carpet was worse than moving because at least when you're moving you put things in boxes and that's it -- we kept moving everything from place to place until the carpet was out - then back in. We slept in the basement on our mattress for a week - that was horrible!! Our basement is finished as nicely as the upstairs and has carpet but it wasn't the same as being in our own bedroom.

Hope you have a good evening!!
      Carole

The day started with sunshine and warmth (almost 90 by noon) and now it's cloudy and down to 78 - we have a storm coming tonight. That's ok - we managed to get quite a bit done today.

What's for dinner tonight? I'm having parmesan chicken a tossed salad and mashed turnips...yum!

          Where is everyone?

Yuumm, that dinner sounds great, Carole! We were out all day and had to visit family in hospital, so husband took me to a late lunch at "Denny's"...I mulled over that menu forever (I think the waitress had to come back four times) before I could find something Atkins friendly...finally I chose the roasted sirloin tips, with scrambled eggs, sauteed bell peppers and onions and hashbrowns (which my husband gladly accepted...as he was the one who found this wonderful item on the menu, knowing he would take the hashbrowns and flour tortillas...) so it turned out Atkins friendly, after donations, LOL) and it was very good. I had coffee with splenda and 1/2 and 1/2. I'm not kidding, it took me 15 minutes minimum to find something Atkins friendly there. Oh, well, enough of my rant. LOL! Good night, talk tomorrow! 50 degrees, rain and wind here in Southern California....we had hail this morning. (I know I shouldn't complain..I'm originally from New York, so I know the weather I complain about now, is like springtime in NY...LOL!)

Hope you are a little warmer today Kathy!! Funny, when I think of California I think "always warm weather" and I know that just isn't true. I have a friend who lives in Gardena so she tells me what her weather is....we've been warmer than she has been the past couple weeks. I keep telling her she should move to the midwest! LOL

Dinner was delicious last night --I have pork steak thawing for dinner and taco meat I made up in advance thawing for my lunch. I bought a big avocado and have sour cream so I'm going to make up a taco salad and enjoy every single bite! I cooked an extra piece of parmesan chicken last night and will eat it probably tomorrow for lunch along with something good.

The hubs has a dentist appt at 1:30 so I'll have to pick him up and take him (he doesn't drive - bad eyes) - he rode with his carpool this morning because he didn't want to take a full day of PTO -- he's going to eat lunch at his desk (which he often does) and then will take his "lunch" while at the dentist and come home and finish his work from here. He works from home on Tuesday and Fridays every week so it's no big deal as long as his boss doesn't have a problem - and he never does.

I weighed myself Monday morning and put the scale on the shelf in the closet - that way I'm not tempted to weigh every morning or every couple days. I know where it is but as long as it's not on the floor it doesn't bother me...weird! I don't know if I feel like I've lost weight, I have a slight headache and body aches today so that could be the beginning of keotsis, OR it could be from the yard work I've been doing lately (and a sinus headache) - who knows. I do know my blood sugar numbers are coming down and I feel better, so that's great.

Kathy, do you have a journal? I didn't look when I was over there this morning. I love having one, I can go on and on forever and that's a great place to do it. Ok, I'm going to go plant my window boxes and do a couple more things before I go pick up the hubs.

Have a great day!! Where is everyone?????

Carole, you get more done in the morning before I do all day!!! Planting your window boxes? Wow, I'm impressed!!! LOL!! I just noticed, now there are over 50 pages on this "anyone over 50.." thread! I still weigh at least everyother day to keep me in line....I don't have a journal...I'll check that out...
Hi Bykerdruid! Yes, after 50, somedays do feel like 150!!!
Hi and welcome MMinMD! I'm not real good about the ticker...it took me forever to get mine on and I still don't know how I did it. Someone will let you know, and I think there is a thread about it also. I'm always impressed by some of these tickers, they look great!

Hi all! And hi Carole. It's nice to see you back again.

I haven't been around much for the past few weeks, ever since our motorcycle accident. There has been so much to do with hospital forms, insurance claims and finding a new bike, helmets, jackets, etc. We just installed new headsets in our new helmets yesterday. Now we are working on the accessories for the new bike.

And of course at this time of year there is lots of gardening to do. So far we've planted garlic, onions, beets, carrots, lettuce and turnips. We had a frost last night so it will be awhile before we can plant the warm weather veggies.

I started induction again today and am doing fine. I'm so tired of feeling like crap and am committed to doing a clean 2 week induction. I love Atkins and don't know why I have been eating carbs lately but it stops now. I guess I just got lazy.

I hope all of you have a great Atkins day!

Welcome back Nyna -- I started induction on Monday after eating every which way BUT Atkins for 2 months. Like you, I was tired of feeling so bad and knew it was my own fault - poor choices and poor nutrition. It's going to be nice to have someone that's just restarting with!! Good luck to both of us. I'm so sorry I didn' tknow about your accident - I hope everything is ok and you weren't hurt.

Well, I took my measurements yesterday and just hung my head....all my hard work gone in a short period of time. I started 7 pounds lighter than when I started last January. It takes so long to loose it and such a short time to put it back on. Maybe it's the lesson I needed, I don't know.

I forgot to take my meds this morning but when I took my blood sugar this afternoon it was only 116 -- down from 129 this morning....so I did good today, even without the meds!! (yea me!)

Ok, need to go start dinner for the family...have a great weekend.

Hello all. I turned 50 last week and am in desparate need to lose weight before my second grandchild arrives. I have tried Atkins several times and I know it works when I stay with it. Glad to have someone to talk with.

Hi Dashley -- glad to have you joining us. Congrats on the upcomming bundle of joy!! You are so right, the plan works when you stick with it but you can't do it halfway, it has to be full or nothing. I've back after a couple rough months but after 5 days back on induction I'm eeling so much better already.

How is everyone? We made it through a stormy night last night and this afternoon we were under severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings all afternoon. We are suppose to have more rain tonight and tomorrow but hopefully not the bad storms we've been having. This is pretty normal here - and you respect the storms but you do get use to this time of year being pretty stormy.

Good meal today again! Had fresh asparagus for dinner as one of my vegetables - it tasted so much better than frozen. I did buy a few pounds of fresh asparagus at the veggie market the other day and froze most of it -- when I freeze it myself I don't have the woody ends you get when you buy frozen asparagus. I also don't add anything so it tastes better.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend -- my flowers are now all planted! YEA .... well, until I figure out I "need" more flowers and go get more. LOL

                                Talk to you later!
