don't think of it as 'wrong' - think of it as being 'misled'! Try to stick with true/whole foods and you will be good!

I TOTALLY understand about peanut M&Ms, I can finish off a 1lb bag with no problem. Once your friends learn about your new way of eating, I'm sure they will understand and give you something that you can enjoy!

My daughter bought me 3 dozen marzipan candies for my birthday last year. Now there was a time I would have devoured them in minutes but instead, I put them out for company and when I found someone who loved them, I sent them home with him! I didn't eat a one!

Fasting is never a good idea because you are depriving your body of food it needs and afterwards, you will be ravenous and eat everything in sight. Just go back to induction and start over. It's what we all do. I just started back on induction myself. I

How is everyone doing? Had wonderful meals today - I've been doing this for so long but still am amazed how well we eat!

I've been watching the Olympics as much as they are on tv -- I love all the different sports. It's nice to have something other that basketball to watch now!

Friday morning we're having the house measured for new carpet for the main floor. Our living room is the worst but I don't want to do just that room so we're having the living room, hall & 3 bedrooms changed. We'll move the furniture and I'm hoping to be able to get the carpet taken up (I hate paying to have it done) .... we'll see how much it would be to have them do it! The lady I talked to this morning said Tuesday of next week they will call with the numbers then about 2 weeks from then the carpet will come from the manufacturer and they'll call after that to a delivery date.

The hubs is feeling a little better....mom has the sniffles so I'm hoping she doesn't come down with anything again....we need some time out without any illness! Come on Spring --- hurry up and get here!

            Hope you're all doing well.

              Hi Carole,

If you decide to do it yourself, consider wearing a facemask...even if you vacuum every day and have the cleanest house-----all that dust from ripping up the carpet and from the padding can make you sick if you inhale it.

Well, went to a different carpet company today and decided we liked what they had better and got a better deal for better carpet & pad.

Hope everyone had a good weekend....ours went fast but it was a good one. The hubs is going back to work in the morning so hopefully he'll do well - he is feeling much better today.

It's lonely in here....hope someone shows up soon...LOL!!

Hi Carole, hi all! I've been meaning to post on this before I join the "anyone over 60? Club!" LOL. Anyway, I read something the other day (on line swomewhere, not here) that reallyupset me, and it was something to do with (again) how bad Atkins is for you. These articles always set me off in pursuit of PROOF what we're doing is HEALTHY! I've never been able to control my weight before on anything but Atkins, my skin (eczema type stuff on hands, legs) cleared up on Atkins, my arthritis took a holiday on Atkins, my hair got longer and softer on Atkins...I mean I could go on and on! My nails are stronger, everything improved on Atkins! Anyway, I think what we're doing is more natural than anything out there. And it's FREE! Just eat wholesome, natural foods! Okay, I've gotten that off my chest. Thanks for always being there. I lurk more than post, but love all the reads. Oh, one questions, I also read in some news thingy, that Splenda is worse for us than sugar??? Anyone have info on that? Okay, talk to someone soon,
                    best alway,

Welcome Kathygirl, I'm glad you decided to start posting and hope to see you here often!

Well, I'm still sick. We thought we were getting better then it hit us again. Maybe we picked up a different strain of it or something. This is getting very annoying because I don't usually get sick and I've had enough already! It's keeping me from getting the amount of exercise I want to and just making life unbearable at times.

I didn't want to even go shopping but yesterday we had an appointment with our lawyer to finally finish the paperwork on the property we bought last October. So we stopped at a new little grocery store and bought a few things like a head of cabbage for making Cole Slaw. I'm going to make my half (dh has to have Marzetti's dressing on his which is loaded with sugar) with Waldens Farms Creamy Bacon dressing. It has no calories, sugar or fat and tastes great. I used it once before on Slaw and I liked it.

Carole, I'm glad to hear that you found a better deal on the carpet because there's nothing more aggravating that finding one after you bought something else.

Nyna -- we kept getting sick over and over since just after Christmas....I'm hoping whatever it was is finally gone and won't return again. I'm still tired and achy from it and have a real hard time with stamina but at least I am up and am doing better now. Hopefully you'll get past it soon!! Believe me, I know it's no fun!

Hi Kathy -- good to have you here. The way I deal with the sweetner vs sugar issue is "all things in moderation"...Dr Atkins says in the book no more than 3 sweetners daily and that's what I go by. Actually the past week and a half I gave up sweetners for a challenge here on the board - but when I do use sweetners (when not on a challenge) I keep it to the "under 3" quota. I actually go probably most of the week without ever having sweetner, but there are a couple recipes where I do like having a little "sweet" taste in it...the revolution (or oopsie) rolls are one - I made a recipe using them last week (no sweetner) and they were almost unbearable but I did use most of them. The other thing I think about is that almost everything in large enough quantities given to lab rats WILL cause some health issues --- and there is no way a human could possibly get that amount of whatever it is they are testing into our bodies in a daily quantity.

You will find once you stop using sweetners how naturally sweet many foods are and after the sugar monster has been broken you will use less sweetners daily anyway.

The new company came and measured the house yesterday for carpet....we should have a quote tomorrow. We stopped on the way home from taking the carpet sample back yesterday and got stain so we can give a "facelift" to the baseboards & doors before the new carpet is installed. As soon as we get the quote tomorrow we'll plot out when we're going to start taking the old carpet and pad out. The next couple weeks are going to be a wild ride!

                        Hope everyone is doing great!!

Hi Nyna and Carole! Thankyou so much for responding! Nyna, I do hope you all get better soon. Winter is hard enough without feeling good! and Carole, good luck with your carpeting project! I know how hard that is. It's like moving without moving out, because of all the furniture! Alot of work! I need to re-carpet our house, but need a roof first, then paint ( my existing carpet will make a great drop cloth) Good idea about removing it yourself ! I admire you for attempting all of this!! Thank you for the info regarding the sugar substitutes.....I feel better... I still drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, with heavy creme and the sweetner, and that's it for the whole day. (I know I shouldn't drink real coffee, but it didn't intefere with my weight loss when I was on Induction...so I was lucky. ) Nice to be here, and thank you both for welcoming me. Nyna, I love your Blueberrylady and the sunshine face, and Carole I've always loved your" Imagood1". Always makes me smile!

Thanks Kathy! That sunshine face is one reason I've never put up a pic of myself because I love it too! But one of these days, I'm going to put up a profile pic, just as soon as I get the time to figure out how it's done.LOL Now if I could get that face on a blueberry, it would be perfect!

I've thought of changing my username because when I joined, I didn't expect to be here very long so wasn't very creative in choosing a handle. I had been on WW boards but they were just lame and I figured this would be the same but boy was I wrong. I love this board!

Carole, boy, I hope we don't have this cold as long as you did! And I'm glad to hear you are finally over it because it really puts a damper on your life!

As for sweetners, I'm cutting down on them too because I know I've been having sometimes 5 a day and it's not helping me one bit! I'm now drinking my tea without any and it's not that bad with just a bit of cream.

I overate yesterday and I don't even know why. Well, now that I think about it, it must have been that darned banana! Dh bought a bunch and they have been on the countertop in a fruit bowl. And I walked by yesterday and grabbed on without thinking then had cravings all day long! Needless to say, there will be no bananas today! (That just reminded me of a the old, old song, 'Yes, we have no bananas')! Wow, that gave away my age!LOL

Nyna, hahahaha!!! I know that song too!!! I use to always eat banana's before Atkins, and you're right, they do create cravings. My husband has one cut up in his fruit salad (he is NOT on Atkins, LOL) and when I made it for him the other day, I snuck a couple of slices! Yumm, they were good, but sure enough, all day I was craving something!! It's always a little difficult when two people are eating differently. He's not a breakfast person as to eggs and bacan, etc., likes just a little bread (banana?) and the easiest meals are dinner, as I just don't eat any bread, tortilla's or potatoes....I have a hard time with water (as in drinking enough) so I set the timer on my stove for an hour and each hour try to drink a glass...but if I don't set the timer I'll go for hours without water....Oh well. Stay warm BlueberryLady!

I know it's hard for me too because dh isn't on Atkins. He wants desserts and potatoes all the time which most of the time doesn't bother me but sometimes I give in to temptation. I've been struggling to stay legal these last few days. Today I ate some tomato soup and a pear. Everyday I swear I will stay legal and then some little thing does me in but I keep trying. They say you only fail if you give up and I'm not about to do that!

I hope you had a better day than I did!
