Waitrose do a range of own brand Premium Sausages that have no cereal in them and are very low carb.

If you have a Lidl or Aldi near you buy Bratwurst - cheap, tasty and low carb.

Hi astoraia Welcome to our little corner of ADBB!

I use tomato puree with only tomatoes and salt on the ingredients list or cook and puree some toms instead of using ketchup. I dont know if any of the UK supermarkets sell ketchup without sugar added!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Newman's Italian Dressing is the lowest carb, and my favourite.

You can always make your own with olive oil and lemon juice or wine vinegar. There are many recipes.

Can anyone please tell me where I can buy Xanthan gum from? I have read about it in alot of recipes but haven't really seen it here in London. What is it and what does it look like.
Also, what seasonings do u normally purchase to cook the meat and chicken.
What gravy granules, stock cube or broth can be purchased from the local supermarkets.
Which Mayo can I buy which is low in carbs coz I find it hard to work with raw eggs and make it myself.
I have access to Sainsbury, Tesco, Waitrose, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, M&S.
Any answers, product suggestion and tips would be much appreciated.

I found Xanthum Gum in a small independent health food shop in Wokingham - not that that helps you.

I just don't do gravy any more. If its a roast I have roast celeriac (the round root) instead of potato - i might pours some of the meat juices on my plate after carving.

On green vegetables I might use lemon juice of Newmans Italian Salad dressing, which is my favourite for salads.

I just use standard helmans mayo.

Try the Waitrose premium range sausages - no rusk in them.

From Lidl and Aldi - Bratwurst - pure meat German Sausage - just grill them - one is enough!

Cut Celeriac into "chips" and bake in oven with sausage on top.

Who said you couldn't have sausage and chips - add an egg if you like! And bacon?

Who said this was a diet?

But do be sensible - I am 6ft 3in tall and now very active - I eat to match.

I buy most of my foods from Lidl - and their fullfat mayo has 0.9 carbs per 100 grams!!

Unfortunately not all their products have the nutrition info on them but if you phone them(details at www.lidl.co.uk) with the bar code info from the pack they are always happy to get you the info in a few days I have found.

                      Hello
                      Welcome to Atkins!
You will soom feel fitter and the wieght will drop of you if u stick to the rules of induction.
So read the book carefully; you will find most of your answers there itself.
Breakfasts can be a fry up of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and half a tomato.
You cac have cheese omlettes, poached eggs, scrambled egg etc.
You could also make quiche for brekki as listed in the book recipes or from linda's low carb recipes website.
Other than that you can have a chicken/egg/tuna/prawn salad or just left overs from dinner in breakfast..

                      Cheers

                        Hi Ginette,

Welcome - you'll find lots of great recipes in the recipes forum. If you are awaiting your book then here's some of my typical induction meals:

                        - Breakfast - like Esther22 said eggs of any kind. I also grill Hallumi cheese and have it with eggs and tomato. I do also eat bacon, though I ensure it has no sugar. Some people don't eat bacon, because of sodium nitrates.
                        - Lunch - I always have a salad (though it's getting cold now, so I'm going to investigate soups soon). I measure my veggies in cups (US standard measures) because the UK book has weights for veggies, but I believe it can be a bit misleading. So for induction I had 1 cup lettuce, and 1 cup other salad bits, like cucumber, watercress, peppers, etc. For protein I'd add a tin of tuna mixed with mayo, or chicken, or cheese (are allowed 3-4 oz per day). You may also want half an avocado.
Dinner - I'd have fish, chicken (or any other kind of meat) with 1 cup of veg such as broccoli, spinach, courgette etc. You can make creamy mushroom sauces, use cheese and butter and spices, etc to give flavour - but count the mushrooms used in sauce towards your daily allowance of veg.

Snack - If you haven't used up your cheese quota (3-4 oz) cheddar makes a great snack, as does decaf coffee with cream (this has got me through the evenings many a time).

Hope that helps and that your book comes soon - though I think the rules of induction are explained in the induction forum too.

                        Good luck!

Macademias are not Brazil nuts. They are totally different things.

Macademias are also ok on the nut rung though.
