I may have to try this pumpkin recipe.. I also eat way too much cream cheese. I am not eating anymore until Thanksgiving...if I can hold out that long.

Your resolve is stronger than mine. I had some this morning on celery.

How is everyone today? Great I hope. It's been quiet here.....where did you all go?

Just wanted to give you great people an update on my brother's brain surgery. The good news is that my brother came through the surgery with flying colors. They were able to remove ALL of the tumor, instead of only part of it. He was awake, talking and able to move all extremities and correctly identify objects by 9:00 p.m. last night! He's still in ICU, but doing well. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts! They were greatly appreciated by my family.

It was an extremely stressful day, but I was able to stay on track by packing lots of legal stuff. I didn't even eat it all. I was in so much pain and so stressed by the time I left at 11:00 p.m. for the long drive home, that I almost gave myself permission to cheat when I got home. I was thinking of all things I would love to eat and planned to stop at the store, but somewhere on the long drive, I started thinking how proud my brother and other family members are with my weight loss and didn't even want to eat when I got home.

Thanks again for being here for me!

        Sunny!

That's so great to hear Sunny! I'm curious, did they have your brother awake for the surgery? I've heard they do that sometimes. I'm just glad to hear everyone is safe and sound and you, my dear, stayed on track. Hope everyone else is having a good day. I'm counting today as day one of staying on track. So far so good. Tomorrow I'll go grocery shopping and stock up on everything. I have a couple of recipes I plan on trying over the holiday next week. What are your plans? I'm staying home and cooking a turkey. YUM!

Thanks, Sherri! No--they didn't leave him awake for the surgery. They had to cut away about 1/3 of his skull. He didn't want to be awake. The only time they leave you awake for brain surgery is when they are doing the electrode implants or the Parkinson's surgery. They need to know when the right place is being stimulated. They wanted to implant those electrodes in my brain for the disabling spasms I get from the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy disorder that I have. NO thank you very much! Not my brain!

Sunny, this is AWESOME news! Praise God that your brother is ok. You're also doing great!! Way to stick to the plan, even with the VERY stressful event!!! Way to go!!!

I have Chiari Malformation (spinal cord attached to the brain). They said the only way to help is to cut my skull open. NO WAY, NO HOW!! I don't believe my symptoms are severe enough to do that. I trust God that I'll be ok.

Kassoria, Sherri, and Marty (and the missing crew)...hope you're all doing great!

Hey everyone! I'm home. I'm very tired. I had to drive through a very bad storm to get my Mom and at one point had to pull off the road. The tension from gripping the steering wheel has left me tired and worn out.

I'll talk to everyone in the AM.

Good Evening Cat, Kassoria, Marty, Sunny and all that come here. I have managed to stay on track another day. I'm on a roll. Today for breakfast was 2 fried eggs with turkey ham, lunch was a steak and cucumber slices and dinner was Alaskan Cod and stir fried vegies along with a salad. I no longer am eating after my evening meal at 5 p.m. I'm not getting on the scale untill the 21st on November. My weight had climbed up to 259.5 before I got a grip on things. I'm feeling in control and am ready to take on whatever comes my way . Wishing all of you a great evening and I'll talk to you tomorrow. Nighty night

Hey gang! I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was having a rough day after the PT told me I would no longer be able to do Turbo Jam or any of the other exercises I LOVED. I didn't want to come here and have a pity party.

Ok, the first thing I saw this morning was this thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=51374. I thought it was roll call for the Century Club. I was wrong! And the first thing I read was, What's with this Kentucky Derby thread? Isn't it a journal. I don't understand it. I mean, I thought this board was for support, not for other people to put our thread down. I'm very upset over this. Maybe we should ask to be moved to another forum because I don't feel so welcome in this forum. What do you think?

Peoples perceptions are cloudy sometimes Cat. Don't worry about it. I wasn't feeling comfortable in they're thread either so that's why I went over to the CC thread where I belong. You can ask someone to have it moved or maybe have someone bring them all up to speed. Maybe remove all of their confusion!

Don't do anything yet. Your thread is certainly not a journal. I think where their confusion is coming from is that it is posted in the Second Time Around Club forum. It's not real clear that the members of this thread are doing Atkins for the second (or more) time(s). I seem to remember (without going back and reading each post) that most had done Atkins at least once before. Regardless, this is one of my favorite threads and one of the most active. Everyone is supportive and committed. There is absolutely no reason to feel you are not welcome. I looked at the other forums, and this is probably the best place for it. After all, it is in the sub-forum "Atkins For Support." That's what we are doing--supporting each other.

Purple--I've been there when the docs and PT told me I would never walk again, wouldn't walk without a walker, wouldn't walk without two quad-canes, wouldn't be able to exercise again, even aquatics. I accepted that for too long, then I rebelled and threw away the canes and started doing all that stuff. I got up to walking for 45 minutes, lifting weights and using my recumbent stepper. I am now not allowed to exercise because of issues with my cervical spine, but I am going to start back shortly. My doctors just shake their heads at me walking without any kinds of aids! If you are determined, you can find a way to exercise. You will find a way to do it safely. It's okay to have a pity party here among friends. We will cheer you back up! You know you can't stay down long!

                                Sunny!
