Glenda: I can appreciate your young motherhood.. my oldest was also born when I was 17. But I wouldn't change a thing as he and I kinda grew up together we are very close. And I'm glad that those girls had someone that understands what they are really going through.

Marty my son & I are very close also...growing up together. DD came 5 years later. I'm so proud of both of them...I did good!! I wouldn't change a thing!

My first trip as an adult without children I was 35 yrs old. Scott & I drove his grandmother back to Florida for the winter. I had a major 2.5 months prior to the trip so whenever we stopped at a rest area I was laying on a picnic table doing my physical therapy exercises! Quite a sight to see!! It was my first trip without having to be prepared with puke bags, snack bags, activity bags, handi wipes etc... It was the greatest time! I had a blast & was like a big kid!!! Our trip home was my first time flying too!!!

Good morning everyone! I made it through the weekend and almost through the bout of depression. I will get better. It's a blizzard outside!! I drove slowly to work since it was "guess where the lines are on the road" day. Now, I'm here and a server is down so I can't work which sucks because I have ton of cases to get done. Oh well!! I guess I'll just be sitting here until it comes back up because now it's rush hour and I refuse to drive with the nuts on the road.

Sunny, I hope you didn't overdo it with shoveling the snow (which I foresee in my not too distant future).

Marty, I didn't need the NoDoz either. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. You said it was 16 degrees. Do you have snow?

Kass, how did your chicken turn out? CONGRATS on the one pound loss!!

Tracey, what's going on? Did someone tick you off? Do you want me to come and beat them up (believe me, I have a lot of pent up frustration to take out on someone right now).

Sherri, sounds like you're ready to tackle the New Year! I'm game! Count me in.

Catherine, are you doing ok? I know you said that your one test came out ok but that you have a broken blood vessel (is that correct)? I am praying for ya!!

Glenda, you are a brave soul for being a nurse. I commend you. I am so squeamish. I almost passed out yesterday when my brother cut his finger and I had to help him clean it.

          Have a great day everyone!!

              Happy Tuesday!

Took me 2 hours to get home last night! I swear we got a foot of snow!! Took me 1.5 to get to work today... geez I'm beat just sitting! So no exercise for me last night and I was up another lb today. UGH!!!! Staying strong.

I made a low carb chocolate bark last night - very tasty! I have to figure out how to put it into fitday!

Here's the ingredients - and be careful I think it could be addicting! I double the recipe because on the site I got it one woman said it didn't make very much and she ate the whole thing in one sitting! I doubled the recipe and only had a 1x1 square or so.....

4T (1/4 cup) virgin coconut oil (zero carbs)

              1-2 T (I say 2 is better) cocoa powder (2-4 carbs)

1/4 t low carb sweetner (I used 1 tsp in a double batch)

2 oz nuts (optional) - I used walnuts

Melt cocnut oil into a liquid, add cocoa powder and sweetner, blend well, add nuts. Have a chilled bakeware pan in freezer for 10 minutes or so (I didn't have mine in that long since I read this as I went along! LOL) Line pan with waxed paper (or I think parchment would work?) Pour mixture into the (chilled) pan and spread to desired thickness. It freezes in about 10 minutes or so!

Ok - there's my tip for today. BBlater!

I sooo wish I could try this but I've found that I have to stay completely away from sweets (even if made with Splenda) because it stalls me and makes me crave sugar. Sucks!!

Could be the reason for my gain?

I had chicken with chop suey veggies last night and a bit of low sodium soy sauce... then I had the chocolate bark.

                  dang...

The sodium could be it as well. I'd wait a day or two (drink lots of water). Then try the treat again. If your weight goes up, then you'll know it was the treat. The poundcake (almond flour) did me in. It stalled me big time. It was good though.

Self had a quiz in their magazine to find your "happy" weight ( a weight you could easily maintain). Mine was 150.3 which is odd because my first Atkins goal was 150 (but I lowered it once I saw I could lose weight). I might rethink my goal when I hit 150. I'm 5'8" (not too tall but not short either - average). Take the quiz below and post your results.

                            Gooooood Morning Derby Girls~

Its a SNOW DAY! schools are closed, roads are bad and the plow hasn't been by yet. So, I spent the morning on the phone cancelling appts and re-scheduling

I forgot to post myy DG Challenge results yesterday. Didn't make my weekly goal due to the Week from H**L but I'm back on track this week. Total minutes for last week: 103 minutes (2 days missed). I have, however increased my speed a bit and I noticed that my stride is off which may account for leg tiredness on the treadmill. My legs are really long but because I won't let go of the treadmill handles, I can't stretch my legs...tiny steps equal fatigue.

I also learned some personal food facts this week. I need to eat eggs for breakfast if I want to avoid grazing during the rest of the day. A half cup of cottage cheese or an ounce of hard cheese doesn't cut it. Oh, and it seems that I'm allergic all of a sudden to peanuts - my face blew up last night like a puffer fish, lol. The Legume rung is really tough for me - do I accept that legumes are off my WOE or keep trying? Also I bought a digital food scale the other day to check my portion sizes - portion control is a stress issue for me.

Looks like the Derby Girls are all getting back on track this week....

Tracey, I hope you took care of whatever/whoever was bugging you yesterday - and I'm sure that yummy sounding chocolate bark helped

Cat, sounds like you are coming up from the depression? Hope so. As for my medical tests, the big one was negative - the rest can wait til after vacation, lol.

Marty, your work schedule sounds grueling....then Scouts on top of that! Hang in

Sunny, I'm taking a page from your book and have started my Spring (well, Winter Spring Summer Fall) cleaning now.

Kass, glad to hear you're feeling better! All your exercise must have pumped up your quick healing capacity

I never did come up with a DG challenge - it's supposed to be for myself right?

I'm gabby today..not into working... guess I'll finish up some things and then take my butt to lunch. I have to go to the grocery store and run some errands...
