Re: Kentucky Derby . . . . . . Keeping on Track
No Duke's for the 14 days. It has vinager, too. It would be better than Kraft or Hellmann's because they have sugar. As for spices--there are none except fresh herbs. Luckily I grow my own parsley, basil, chives, oregano and marjoram. All dry spices including cinnamon, garlic powder and the likes have mold spores. It is doable and it's not forever. You do have to add stuff back in slowly and very carefully. I picked mayo and dijon mustard to add back in first, along with green and chamomile tea and my coffee. I already know caffeine doesn't bother me, so I went off just because of the molds in the tea leaves or coffee grounds.
Did you read the part of the book that says you might have to put the whole family on the diet? I thought of that when you said your daughter had ringworm--a fungus infection.
I had no idea that an ongoing problem with my skin was caused by yeast, but the diet cleared it up when two years of prescription creams and a lotion had helped, but had not cured it. When I went back on antibiotics after the surgery, it came back a little, but not as bad as before.
You can do anything for 14 days. I won't lie and tell you it was easy, but it can be done, and the benefits outweigh the temporary loss of foods you love. You usually feel pretty bad just from yeast die-off, but at least you know it's working. I sure did appreciate my added back in foods because I had been denied them. What made me mad was having to give up foods that I had forced myself to learn to like for the fat content. When I started Atkins, I didn't like mayo, cream cheese or sour cream! Learn to love them, and bang--they are gone!

That is so awesome!!

Today when I took my lunch guess who had the nerve to be eating in our breakroom...the
boss lady! I can't believe she had the balls to come in there & eat her lunch. I've never seen her do that. I think tomorrow I'll go sit in her office & eat my lunch. I swear she did it so she could see how long we were taking for our lunch break. I can't even begin to tell you how much I dislike her.
