I was surprised to find I lost shoe sizes as well as hat sizes as I lost weight - I never realised I was a fathead before Atkins
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Re: Looking for some buddies.

hello all, sorry for not posting in here today, was feeling kind of bad today, think i might have gotten a little sun poisoning the day of our garage sale and it really effected me today, plus it was a scorcher outside today and i just couldn't get myself motivated.

today was my DH and my 17th wedding anniversary, we didn't really have anything planned to do to celebrate it, but we decided to go out to eat. we had steak dinners, and i had a dinner salad and green beans for my sides, it was really good. i was in control, and i was very satisfied with the dinner and choices i made. what a wonderful feeling to be able to control my food choices rather than them controlling me.

tomorrow is my first official weigh in day. i really don't want to know what i weigh until the end of the 2 week induction, so hubby is gonna look and write the number down and keep it out of sight until next week. i do want to keep track of each weeks results, but for the first week i would like to wait.

i think i've done well though because i am wearing a pair of pants i couldn't wear last week.(atleast not very comfortably)

anyways, gotta go. hubby and i are getting ready to watch a movie. have a good night everyone and see ya tomorrow. oh yeah before i forget, my vacation is over and i will be returning to work tomorrow. i will try to check in here and at roll call, but if not i will check in after i get home from work.

              Re: Looking for some buddies.

hi...i am restarting tomorrow. i was really successful with atkins a few years ago. i have been off and on since then...trying to restart but unable to fully commit for a variety of reasons...i need support and encouragement and i would like some buddies. i feel low. i have not succeeded this time and that weighs heavy on my mind...i am struggling. but, i am desperately unhappy with my weight...i have taken steps to recommit...i have reread the red book, my home is stocked with legal foods, and i have written down my goals and my reasons for recommitting to atkins. i also have a new mantra. i realize that no matter what i do, time continues to move forward...i love this saying from weight watchers (well, i learned it at weight watchers) "if it is to be, it is up to me." this, along with the realization that time does indeed move forward, has opened my eyes to my opportunities. i need the support of you folks on this board. i am sad that i left it. i am back. thanks for being here!

                Re: Looking for some buddies.

Welcome Jen! Feel free to post here as much as you want. I usually check a few times a day. I am glad that you decided you were worth it. You can do this. You look beautiful already!

Monie...sorry you are not feeling well. But what a great moment that was to realize you have control over the food not the food over you. Isn't that a powerful moment?!!!! You go girl. You have worked hard on yourself this week and I know it will show on the scales. I know you are not going to look and just have DH write it down. That is a good way to do it as a lot of people seem to get upset that the second week isn't as good as the first. This way you will have one big number to celebrate. But..if you end up changing your mind...do tell us...LOL! I will report my lose tomorrow. Check in when you can!

Good night everyone...going to watch a movie.

                  Re: Looking for some buddies.

welcome back jen & welcome to our little group. i remember you from other times i was doing atkins and used this board. glad you came back.

*thought* ---a thought came to my mind just now that one of the reasons i failed in my previous weight loss attempts.(some even being very successful others not so much) besides the fact that DH and i usually did this together, i really had no other support. sure family and friends supported me in telling how good i looked after losing and tried to always make sure if food was involved in our gatherings they made things i could eat. however, i never really had anyone else other than the people on this board to share with. even that ended up not being enough. i always managed to let life take over, stopped reading posts on this board, stopped using my fit day, and exercise became pretty much non existing in my life. everything i did became pretty much non complacent.

now however, i've made some new friends on here and feel like we are truly becoming buddies in this and hope that we can be life long supporters to each other in this wol. i feel like i have people in my life who know exactly what i'm going through, and together we can conquer any goal we set before us.

well, enough of my rambling, off to read some more posts, finish my last set of exercises for my challenges and then off to bed.

                  good night all,
                  monie

                      Good Good Good Morning!

Yippee-I-Eh...reporting in with my first week of 10 pounds down!!! That is even better than the first time I tried Atkins. Back then I did 9 pounds. So I am very happy. I will also be happy if I can get another 3 pounds this week. The second week is always less than the first. So I am prepared for that and won't get all upset. This is a life style change and not a quick fix. Stick to the plan and it will come off as it is meant to be.

                      Happy Anniversary Monie!

Bill...How about a "I would love too, but I am on a Dr ordered restricted diet right now." Maybe you can plan a dinner at your house. The first week...especially after all the planning you did...I think you may have made the right choice.

How is everyone else??? Check in!

hi everyone...day one for me and i am moving right along. i feel good. a bit sad but i think that's because i ended a relationship yesterday. bummer. a romantic relationship. i am ending all sorts of relationships right now, i guess...i am moving, i am definitely changing my relationship with food...at times i feel overwhelmed...but, mostly, i feel focused and on track now that i have recommitted to taking care of myself and becoming more healthy.

elsie, congrats on the 10 pound loss! that is very inspiring for me to hear. i would feel so much more at peace with 10 pounds off of me. monie, i remember you too. i am glad to be back and appreciate you remembering me and your support and encouragement. what you wrote really hit home with me. thanks to you too, billbazz. i am so glad everyone is here. i need you folks on this board. i do, i do, i do!!

hope everyone has a beautiful evening. i will be back tomorrow.

                              Re: Looking for some buddies.

good evening all, just home from work and want to stop in and say hello. i was up this morning by 6:45 and took my 20 min walk before getting ready for work. it felt good to get moving, and so strange to be at work and not feel all sluggish, even though it was 100+ degrees in the warehouse. not complaining though, the more i sweat the more i lose.(atleast i hope)

had a great 1st day back. done well on my lunch, but want to pose a question to everyone. when DH made our pot roast the other day, some of the veggies we cooked basically turned to mush in the pressure cooker.
there was a lot of broth left over, and i saved that and took some as part of my lunch. it was a very tasty veggie-beef stew. my question is this. how do you think i should enter it into my fitday? it was mostly broth, but there were tiny pieces of veggies floating around in it, and a few small pieces of meat. the veggies we put in were zucchini, summer squash, celery, red bell pepper, and turnip. any suggestions would be appreciated.

elsie, congrats on the 10 lbs gone. what a great motivation that is.

jen, great to see that day one is going well.

tiredoffat, hang in there, those induction flu symptoms will be gone before you know it and you'll feel so much better.

bill, i know it's hard sometimes to turn down those invites, but if you're not ready for that, than it's better to just say no. when you're ready, you'll know, and if something comes up again, maybe just ask what's on the menu for dinner. if they are going out to eat and you don't feel comfortable with that venue, maybe you could suggest a different restaurant. if it's at someone's home and the planned food is not something you can eat, offer to bring a few things that you can enjoy and not feel guilty about.

thanks for the anniversary wishes, being with the man i love for that long is my greatest and most cherished accomplishment.

                              have a good evening all
