  • I would like a mentor(s)

    Hi, I am on day 13 of induction and have lost 5 lbs. I will be measuring my inches tomorrow, I know I have lost some 'cause I can feel it. I thought I was doing a clean induction but I think i've 'oops'ed on a couple of things like, salad dressings and the amount of my sour cream intake some days. I had lost 14 lbs on atkins before but after keeping it off for about 14 months I have gained back 10 lbs. I do the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds video 5 days a week and really enjoy it. I am going to Las Vegas the 3rd week of Feb and would like to achieve some great results by then. I also will need advice about eating out while on atkins. It does help that my best friend, who we are going with, is doing atkins as well.

      It's not showing up urplequ: The weight counter lady is Lara Croft, so I got that pic on one of the fan sites. A moderator, book, made the counter for me. I haven't seen her around though, since October. Mighty Mucko (Dawn) also makes the coounters.

        so i go to 24hr. fitness. they print me out a diet, workout sheet and tell me i'm going to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.

        my buddy told me tonight he lost 7 pounds on the atkins diet last week. he says i can lose 15-20 pounds in one month on the atkins diet. is this true?

        i'm 6ft. male. 212 lbs.

        i want to get to 180.

        32 pounds. please somebody tell me what i can expect form atkins.

          Hi :wave I'm a newbie to atkins, actually this is my second day on the program. So far its been pretty easy, the only thing I have trouble with is drinking all that water, but I am determined to do it! I have been on several diets during my 39yrs and I hope this one works better than the numerous ones I have been on. Good luck to all and hope everyone has an awesome day!!! :dancing [/b]

            I would really like a mentor. Getting ready to start atkins.

            I am 5'2", 28 yr old female. Divorced, single mother with a young child. I would like to toss 83 lbs for good.

            I am nervous and lost when it comes to Atkins. My doctor suggested I do this so I am trying it.

              Hi my name is Kim and I am just starting induction (on my 3rd day) and could really really use some mentoring. I have 15 lbs to lose (or 2 sizes) as quickly as possible. I would love to hear from a seasoned veteran!!!

                This is day 7 for me....everything is going great!!! No cravings at all....then again i have never had much of a sweet tooth....The thing that i wish is if i could weigh myself...I have a really old scale...My husband weighs himself at work and our scale is about 15 lbs difference...(lighter)...He is so sweet....he ordered me a new scale from work but will take probably 2 more weeks to come in....so my on my scale I was 295 so i'm guessing my starting weight is 310.....but it seems everytime i step on my scale it is different....stand on it i'm 295....stand on it again and i'm 305....i can never get an accurate reading....grrrrrrrr......this is not fun!!!....so I will let you all know how much i have lost so far when my new scale comes in.....Hope everyone has a wonderful day

                  Hi I am just checking in on my 20th day. I lost 8 lbs. the first few days of induction and then 2 more. I haven't lost anymore in the last 10 days. I am not going to focus on this though because its not just about the weight. It is about feeling better too. I have felt better than I have in about 10 years. I know the pounds will eventually come off if I stick to this way of eating. This is usually when I get frustrated and quit Atkins. I think, well, if I am not going to lose anymore eating like this, I might as well go back to eating junk. Not this time, because I don't want to go back to feeling yucky and miserable.

                  • looking for a mentor

                    Hello! I am new to the forum and to the atkins WOL. I have read tons of information and of course am still *hungry* for more lol. I started atkins on saturday january 15th. My weigh in was 235 and I would like to get down to 160 (or size 10) eventually but my mini goal is to lose 15 pounds by Valentines day. I am starting a Bally fitness membership today for 8 weeks. I plan on working out there 3 times a week and supplementing toning at home every day. My 3 personal goals this week are:
                    Minimum of 64 ounces of water every day
                    Lower my calorie intake by 500 a day
                    No naps during the day =p
                    My menu normally consists of:
                    breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled, 3 slices of bacon or atkins advantage shake
                    lunch - 1 cup Dole classic salad mix with bacon bits or diced chicken breast, 1 ounce cheese and 2 tbsp ranch dressing
                    snack - slim jim and string cheese
                    dinner - baked chicken breast or pork chop (fried in butter)
                    Does this sound ok or can you think of anything I need to add or subtract?

                      On induction we dont have to worry about calorie counting :yikes Great isnt it!!
                      You need to eat if you are hungry and make sure you are having plenty of fat as well as 3 cups of salad vaggies or 2 salad plus 1 of the 'other cup' veggies.

                      I cant see much in the way of veggies except for 1 cup at lunch here.
                      Over half of your 'up to 20 carbs' each day should be from veggies and try to spread them out through the day too.
                      Also the shakes should be avoided during your first 14 days induction in order to cut your cravings for sweet things. Some of the 'Atkins' lowcarb foods contain ingredients not'legal' for Induction so you need to check the list of ingredients against the acceptable foods list and if it has a 'no-no' in it leave it till the correct rung of OWL
                      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
                      Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                      • Hi! Thanks for your response! So if I eat my normal size salad twice a day and add another cup of..say broccoli, that would solve the veggie carbs? I will definately check on the shakes as well. Also I was wondering if you could recommend a good fat to add? Thanks again!

                        • Hi guys, I have been doing Atkins since August of 2004 and have lost 55 pounds. You can see my newest pics in the before and after pics section. I was pretty active here on the board but took a break (my life got really crazy and I moved across the country) and now I am back. I help out with the Boot Camp program here as well.                             Yes that sounds right for your veggies.

                            I use butter a lot either to cook with or to top veggies with - broccoli smothered in butter is yummy :yummy

                            You can also use many oils for salad dressing or to cook with.
                            go to the acceptable foods list here

                            and it lists which ones are allowed.

                            • As I explined my scale in an earlier post....it is messed....any way it told me last week i weighed in at 295....i'm guess it is 15 lbs off of the new scale that i'm getting soon.....my hubby uses a scale at work and he weighs himself here and there and that is what he told me.....sooooo.....i'm thinking i'm 310lbs.....but i weighed myself today....it is day 7 on atkins....and i weighed in at 290....which is 305lbs....darn this is confusing.....lolol.....my point.....I LOST 5 LBS THIS WEEK>>>>>WOOHOO!!!!!! :yikes
