It's SO yummy! And I use 4 eggs--which seems like a lot--but I have this around 8am and I'm not hungry till 1pm. Great protein!

The pumpkin is also great when you move to Rung 1 to get the extra veggies in!

I can't believe I read the whole thing! I will say i had a huge range of emotions, from ewww to shock to gag to hmm might be interesting, back to ewww LOL

I saved the recipe and I'm going to see if I can convince DH to try it first. Not worried about the germs, like mentioned earlier in the thread, I've eaten plenty of uncooked cookie dough, brownie dough, cake mix.....in my time and it hasn't killed me yet.

Will report back if I ever get brave enough to try it. Will the Divinci flavorings be ok on induction for this?

Okay, I just made this for breakfast and it was fantastic! I just used 2 eggs, a splash of cream, a 1/4 tsp of splenda and a dash of vanilla....I am definitely going to use ice tommorrow though - I think it will be even better! Thanks for a great breakfast idea!

              Hi all
I've been gone from Atkins for a while, but I'm glad to hear the shake idea has worked for some people. I've recently added green smoothies into the way I eat, and find the idea pretty cool.
I've always been very sensitive to bitter, so dark, green leafy veggies taste like torture to me.... and I end up not eating them! even when I really want to!
the idea behind green smoothies is to add leafy greens into a shake and hide the taste with sweet fruits. works great for me.
while i understand that this is NOT induction friendly for Atkins, I wonder if the idea might inspire some veggie haters to experiment...
maybe if someone is feeling reeeeeally brave they might throw in a leaf of lettuce into their frappuccino shake...
I know from trying it with fruit that I'm amazed at how well the fruits mask the flavors, i just don't sense it at all!
and hey, the scariest step was trying raw eggs in a shake in the first place...who ever thought we'd be trying that!? so, drinking something greenish might not be as scary as it once was...
what I HAVE found is that I definitely stuck with the idea of a shake for breakfast. on the wagon, or off it, I've loved the convenience of a quick breakfast that doesn't make me gag.... which is saying a lot.
good luck to everyone! and tell me if anyone tries the greens!

I may try this tomorrow too because I have been getting thoughts about how easily I could make myself a shake or eggnog and its great to see a recipe. I happen to LOVE eggnog but wasn't letting myself have it while on my lowfat/lowcal plan. I love this - I get to eat all sorts of things I wouldn't allow myself to have before! The raw egg thing doesn't bother me because I have also been getting sort of sick of scrambled cooked eggs for breakfast (which is all I usually have time for and often bring a paper bowl w/my eggs and some sausage and cook it all at work in the microwave - separately) but this gives me hope for an almost eggless (or at least tastes eggless) breakfast! YAY! Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to try it tomorrow.

I was just toying with making my own version of Atkins' shakes too because they don't seem to let me lose. So I will have to experiment with that now too. Thanks for lighting a fire under my creative side!

my husband never ate breakfast; when we started Atkins in Feb 2009, I convinced him to try the shakes. Anything in the morning was better than nothing - in my opinion. He really enjoyed the shakes, and got in the habit of having one every morning. About 4 months ago, we I saw this thread, I convinced him he could make his own - which would be better [and cheaper]. Now he mixes his own shake every morning! Save money and he has a very nutritous breakfast - how great is that?? Maybe I'll have him add a little spinach baby steps

I've been having these a lot. I think you need to tweak them to your own personal taste. I added 1/2 tsp cocoa and a few drops of pure almond extract yesterday. The chocolate almond blend was awesome. But be careful the almond will over power the shake if you use very much. I've have the ones with canned pumpkin, ones with just pumpkin spice (love these), just cocoa, plain and have some natural peppermint I am going to try with cocoa soon.

When I get to the fruit rung I think I'll try the veggie shakes. Hate most veggies so I'm willing to try it if I can get veggies and not taste them. Great idea.

I was making these in my blender but DH and I picked up a Ninja drink maker for around $50 at WM. The difference is amazing. I will never go back to using my blender for them. They are so creamy smooth and frothy in the Ninja, kind of like an icee. YUM

We have been brainwashed into thinking there are serious health hazards if we eat raw eggs. Have not researched the latest data on this though. Would be interesting to find out what the talking heads are issuing these days on that subject.
