It is that male metabolism! I know it's not fair for you girls. Believe me, I still wonder sometimes, how am I going to eat all that I need to eat. My BMR is 2069, so I try to eat at least around my BMR. If I was bed bound I would still burn 2483 calories, so since I exercise at least 6 days per week, I figure that I am burning at least 3000 calories per day. Early on I was only eating about 1500-1800 calories and found that I wasn't losing very well because my body went into starvation mode. Once I adjusted it and started eating close to my BMR, I started losing. I probably should even be eating more still, but I just can't. Seems funny to say after years of overeating! Is this a great WOE or what???

Liz, Congratulations! That is fantastic! Feels great doesn't it?
        Don

Sorry - this was a a little far back in this thread, but in regards to the sugar snap peas: Consider them half pod and half pea. (If you eat a cup of them, assume half of it is perfectly legal "Pod" substance, and half of it is naughty starchy veggie "Pea" substance) and calculate accordingly. Snow peas, the type you stirfry, are the younger pods, in which the peas have not developed yet. They are mostly pods. Sugar snaps are just about legal to be sold as regular green peas. They are wonderful, though, aren't they?

                So far today (Wednesday):

Red bell pepper w/ 1 TBS mayo
                Flax cracker with butter
                1/2 C sauteed eggplant
                1/2 C spinach
                1 C stirfried pork
Latte made with 2 oz. half and half
                1/3 C mixed nuts
And I ran 3.5 miles this morning

I know... too much dairy and I need more veggies. Problem was, my lunch was from the cafeteria and not very tasty or satisfying, so I went looking for more. That's how I landed on the coffee and nuts....

Nuts and coffee are my enemy, though ironically they don't make me crave anything besides more nuts and more coffee.

I have banished my beloved bag of macadamias to the uppermost shelf in my cupboard. I allowed myself a total of three last night.

Everyone else is being so much purer than I. I think I need more rung by rung discipline (with a capital D).

                      Hi, Everybody

Yay! I'm glad to hear that a lot of you don't worry about the Salad list versus the Other list veggies. I can stop stressing over that on the days that I happen to eat more "other" veggies. Woo hoo!

Liz and Michelle! How great that the scale is moving in the right direction now... whew!

I think that this thread is going to help a lot of us... because of the accountability and learning new things. Thanks to all of you for participating - I love it!

I think the salad vs. other veggies are only an issue for Induction and Rung 1 of OWL. Personally, I prefer to eat the "other" veggies. And since my CCLL (still unknown!) is pretty high (I would assume), I need to get the most bang for my buck. So for me, it's better to eat "other" veggies to fill up my carb quotas...otherwise I'd be eating 20 cups of "salad" veggies a day.

My lunch changed a bit--I didn't get to finish my salad, so I only had 2 cups of greens, 1/2 tbsp. dressing, and 1/3 of a red bell pepper...

I have been ravenous today! I might need to eat another snack before Kickboxing...
