    Afternoon all...

Monie: I am so sorry to hear about Bella. My thoughts are with you. Pets are children (with fur).

rlfrasier: Welcome! I am new also. This site is what EVERY diet plan should have. Whoever created this must be an amazing person.

I have now given up on weighing myself every morning and evening...my pants felt a "tiny bit looser" this morning when I put them on. This is Day 6 on induction for me. It is very exciting to think that this plan may work for me! YEAH!!!

I did 2.5 hours of gardening last night and I have to paint an entire room (including the ceiling...yuck) today so that will be my exercise. I joined Planet Fitness so I hope to make it there at laest 4 times a week.

    Bye for now!

thanks guys for all your support and sympathy during our time of loss. your kind words are so appreciated. as i said in my post last night, we have taken our first steps in healing and while i know there will always be an empty place in our heart and home, one day we will be able to open our hearts again and bring another pet into our home.

Bill...thanks for the fan instructions. You are quite the chef!! You are right...induction is easy. I think that is one of the reasons why people like to stay there. But it does cheat you in the end and I think that those people who do lose most of their weight on induction are the ones with the higher percentage of weight gain. Might not be true but it seems that way to me. I know that with the research that you put into every move you make that you will be a success story!!

Mike..looking forward to seeing your cheat free and diet coke free day numbers go up, up, up as your weight goes down, down, down! You can do it!

rlfrasier....yep, get those veggies in. They play a huge part in this WOE. The migraine could also be part of your version of induction flu. At least it was in mine. I used to get them weekly or more. Now besides induction...only one. And some little headaches but not even weekly now.

Suzette...I would say that gardening and painting definately count. Good for you for joining planet fitness!!!

Monie...so glad to hear that you are going to open your home up to another one(two?) basset hound from a rescue.

You will know which one(s) are right for you. We went through a rough year one year and lost Grandma, Grandpa, DH's job, 3 dogs and 2 cats and also moved. We were left with 1 cat and 1 dog who died about a year later. Took us over a year before we started looking at the SPCA and a year before we found the dog for us...not what we went for either. We were looking for a mid sized dog...any age and ended up coming out with a lab cross puppy. 6 months later we rescued 2 1 year old cats (that had been returned to the SPCA) and 4 months after that we got the dog that you see in my sig line. Again...not the dog we were going to add...wanted a mid sized dog to play with the other dog and help him feel secure (anxiety problems)..so big dog..75 pounds and little dog..7.5 pounds and the cats and we have a full house again.

so whenever you are ready...sooner or later...it will be the right time with the right dog(s).

We are so glad that we didn't let the pain from losing our beloved pets stop us from bringing more into our home. The joy they bring far outweighs the pain...even if it does not feel like it at the time. I still get teary eyed over our 'first' batch of kids.

Elsie-Thanks--I want to really enjoy this WOL--I want all the foods that I miss back--they may be in a different form--like whole grain breads and pasta's--and other non-processed things--and some in moderation--but my diet will be as normal as anyone's--and like you--- I cook up a storm--Some recipe's turn out looking (and tasting!) like mud pie--but I try to keep the family from a rut--anything we have (unless it's awesome!) we only have once every 2 weeks--so finding different recipe's (using only allowed and portion controlled ingredients) keeps me challenged.

Monie--lost my first and best best friend when I was pre-teen..a gift from
my Mom when I was 2 and Duchess was just 6 weeks---I could not get the grief totally behind me--my mom found a pic of her jumping after a frisbee--took it to a local artist and she painted her jumping after butterfly's in a big field--sits over my mantle even to this day!
Mom always knew just what to do....

WTG-Mike--when you hold yourself accountable--it's much easier to avoid the things you shouldn't have.

rlfrasier--sounds like you have a plan--hope your headache passes quickly--a sufferer from birth here too!

Suz--that's it! hide the scale!--let's use the tape for a bit!

                  Hey Buds!

I am so sorry to hear about your heartbreak, Monie!!! I have some stories too, but too sad to share, I will spare you all. I hope you feel better soon.

Bill, I do know about the rungs, and am following the basic concept, but I think my problem is lack of cardio, for sure, I know what I have to do, it is just that I have to do it! I am eating LC and feel good about it, I am eating some nuts, and berries, haven't really moved from there. I know that in the long run, eating those things will not be anything but healthy for me. Hey, I'm not eating chips, donuts, or bread!! Treats for me are grapes or blueberries in whipped cream, homemade. Did you guys know that in one pack of Ramen noodles, there are 300 carbs??? 300!!! No wonder people are so overwt!!! I am making very good choices, and I know if I stick to it, this wt will come off. But yeah, thanks for checking in with me, I am being a good girl, foodwise!!

And guess what??? I got an A in anat/phys!!! 90.7%, lol!! I am working on a paper right now for my other class, on the disease that made my mom blind, called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, very interesting reading! She wants me to fw her the paper when I'm done so she can learn more too. She has a talking thingy for her computer that will read it to her.

Ok, ok, BF is starving, going to make egg foo yung before he eats that cat gut burger, WITH the bun lol!!! TTYL

Hey Bill..try this one...it is induction friendly. Even if you don't like pork rinds I recommend this one. I will also post in the recipe thread so no one has to look through our hundreds of posts to find it again...LOL!

Cinnamon Toast Crunch" - odd but good!
I came up with this while really craving cereal one evening, and playing around with different ideas. This is one of those recipes that may sound too weird to even give it a shot, but if you love cereal try it!

                    3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp water (optional but helps)
                    1 packet Splenda
                    1 handful pork rinds
                    cinnamon powder

Pour the whipping cream, water, and Splenda into the bottom of a cereal bowl. Add several dashes of cinnamon, and stir. The cinnamon will remain kind of clumpy, but that's okay. Add the pork rinds a few at a time (I like to use the smaller bits that collect at the bottom of the bag for a more cereal-like effect, but you could always crush larger ones) and stir them as best you can until all rinds are covered with the cream mixture. It's IMPORTANT that the rinds get covered, the soggier the better. You'll be able to hear them snap, crackle, and pop at this point.

Perhaps I ate something I wasnt supposed to as I was sleepwalking,*wink*. It is possible. Or it's too many of them turkey drumsticks. Forgot about them...OOPS. Hope all is well for evryone else and here's to a losing week. Good Bless,Joe

                          Hi Buddies

MONI - *great big hugs for you and your dh* I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss. I like so many others here, have also lost many beloved animals over the years. It's very heartbreaking, no matter how many times it may happen to any of us. The last parting I had to mourn through, was when my baby Nakita (my kitty) passed away in my arms on Jan.11th 2007. She was my EVERYTHING! Nakita was healthy one day and then boom out of no where on Jan.10th 2007 she had a cold or so it seemed, so I was going to see how she did over the course of a day or two and if it wasn't getting better I was going to take her to see a vet. Later the next day she got so ill, she couldn't even walk barely, nevermind jump up on the couch to sit with me! I called around to different vets trying to find someone who could help her, and then as I was getting ready (literally was putting my shoes and jacket on while holding her) Nakita made this awful little noise and I looked at her.. I will never as long as I live forget the next moments that followed... She wouldn't take her eyes off me, reaching out with her one lil paw while she took her last few gasp of life... that was it.. my little girl was gone. *tears are falling as I write this* The vet people couldn't take her till the next day, so I held her wrapped in an ol flannel shirt of mine that she loved, and there I sat.. rocking her and feeling like I was dying too the colder her body got. I had a gf who thought I was so sick because I was holding my dead kitty.. well yah know what.. everyone has to go through there own thing. Nakita didn't even make it to be a year old. I still have no clue why she died? The next day I took her to be cremated, and now she will always be with me in some way. I still have her collar with bell, a few of her toys, and a stuffed Dog that she use to suckle on.. LOL.. that was priceless! I was so angry at the world for taking her from me so soon, that the mear mention of me replacing her set me off! Little did I know that 5/6 months later there would be a new cat that would find her way into my heart. I now have one of my Mom's cats, her name is Jade and she is 10 years old this year. Jade has the cat version of HIV, and even though I know she's healthy now.. I'm scared that one day out of the blue it will turn to full blown aids and then we will lose her too. Jade reminds me of The Littlest Hobo, because one of her many quality's is that if I start getting into an argument with one of my children, Jade shows up on my lap to calm me down. She seems to be really bothered by yelling or something, so it's kind of a soothing thing she does. As soon as she's on my lap, that's it, no more yelling, I pet her and calm down. Anyways, I apologize (to all of you)for blabbing on and on. I guess I needed to share that story for some reason. Monie, I am truly sorry that Bella has gone and I'm here if you ever need a shoulder to lean on.

JOE - That's pretty good I would have to say only having a less than 2lb gain after a week holiday at Disney You'll lose it in no time I'm sure and be right back on track!

VAL - WOOOHOOO! Way to go on the "A" 90.7!! I'm betting you will do awesome on your paper too! Good luck.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Tonight was the first night that dh helped cook anything since I started Atkins. LOL Normally he cooked 90% of the time and I do kinda miss that. However, once he realized that he just needed to cook the shrimp, boil the cauliflower, and cook the hamburger, he quite fine with cooking our dinner tonight. Although I did help. It was pretty tasty, and dh now says he likes mashed cauliflower better than mashed potatoes! Holy smokes.. ha ha ha ha

I've been pluckin along with the water, getting at least 96oz's in, but as I'm not feeling very well due to TOM, my stairs challenge isn't near as much as I would like to see. I pulled of three flights yesterday and three today. It's kind of a downer, as I would loved to have done more if I wasn't feeling so much pain. Hopefully I'll be back at doing more flights soon.

My dh took me shopping today Dh thought I deserved a treat for my weight loss and for staying strong and true to this. So I got a new purse *GUESS*, a #88 Dale Jr. keychain, and a movie! LOL.. I have to hope for more loss's. LOL Dh though deserved to be knocked out of his chair at Starbucks today.. get this.. I realized I only had 1 Sugar Twin packet in my lil change purse, and there is NO WAY 1 will do for a large strong coffee from there, so I was trying to figure out what I was going to do when he says.. Ohh live a little and use sugar OMG.. I couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth! I told him "Shame on you!" I went inside, dumped half my coffee out and used the 1 packet I had and added my lil bit of half and half and all was good! He told me later.. he was proud of me for doing that. Ohhh brother.. hahaha

Well I guess that's me for now. I hope Sunday is a nice day for you all.

Found a work out bench for my barbells that i got a couple of weekends ago. $2.00 for the bench which normally would have cost $200. Lost 2 lbs. this week, really happy about that. Posted a zuchinni recipe in the recipe chat section(my mistake). Was scrumptious an recommend it to all

So far my weekend has been ok Garage sales are fun to go to, and that is something my dh and I do fairly regularly. Great deal on the workout bench! Congrats on your 2lb loss this week In the morning, dh and I may go to the flea market, as that's something we like to do most Sunday's. Alot of the time we don't buy anything, but it's just something to do and you can see what lil treasures bring. Have a fantastic Sunday!

Hey all, I hope your Sunday is going good!

Joe, I am so sorry that you put on a couple, don't let it get ya down, this is why you come here, for support, it will come off, **Especially if you keep up the walking, that muscle will kick the fat's butt in the end!!**

I am stuck still, fluctuating between 12-14 pounds lost, I am sure it is because of all the time sitting on my butt working on that Anat class grade. Sooo, I am off to go for a bike ride this am. I know I really need to kick in the cardio, I have been doing wts everyther day though, and the stall could very well be that I am building muscle, cuz I really feel and look different, and BF agrees, so happy anyway.

Still eating good, only adding alternating foods from dairy, nuts, and berries. Feel great!!

You guys... will not believe this... but in 6 weeks now, BF has lost 25 pounds!! I am so happy for him, if I wasn't watching his success firsthand, I may have given up a long time ago!! But we are eating the same, and he is exercising, it is so important, I am glad I finally have time to commit to it now!

Sassy, thanks for the congrats, it was an accomplishment for sure! How fun to be able to splurge on yourself!! That is so much fun!!

F4n- have fun with the new equipment!! Yay!!!

Mike, glad to see you battling your sweetners and cheat days! Keep up the good work!! We will be holding you to it! Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, I wish you all a very successful week!!!
