Shauna - Welcome to the group I bought 2 box's of Carb free Jello tonight and will give it a try. I've never been big on Jello, but maybe it will help to know I can a have a little something when I want it? Congrats on feeling so great!

Elsie Thank you for all the kind words hun. I was almost in tears.. hmmm.. guess that's a good thing? hahaha Ohh and by the way, you ARE a VERY wise woman, just one that doesn't have all the answers... Y E T . I do believe you are talking about the CREAM CHEESE CLOUDS? They look tasty. It looks like I need to be getting another electric mixer. I have the beaters, but can't find the main part to make them go. LOL As you can see as I told Shauna, I did get the Jello tonight however (runs and hides in a closet) they didn't have any Splenda type. I had to settle for the A word instead of the S word. hahaha

I knew you would be asking me about climbing rungs sooner or later. I know it could open so many more possibilities Elsie, it's just that I don't feel that I'm near ready enough to even attempt it yet. Plus I still have alot of weight to lose. I'll get there, and I'm sure you'll be right by my side when I'm ready.

When you said "grind your own almonds for almond flour" , is that Induction friendly? Or do I have to be at a nut rung for that? Ok.. I just re-read that and I'm sure that's a NO NO for me till I move up. I just bought 2 things at a health food store the other night, but still don't know what I'm going to do with them? One as it turns out isn't all the great I don't think? I bought Carab Chocolate Chips (was a suggestion from my Mom as she used them for my Dad when he did Atkins I had no clue he ever did Atkins!) I don't like how they taste for one, and for two, the carb count isn't as low as I'd like to see for that. Mini Carb Chocolate chips are way better, but they're non existent now so I don't know what I could get instead? I also bought Milled Flaxseed ??? Hahaha I have NO clue what to use it for, just saw it in several recipes when I was browsing. The woman also gave me a bag of Nutracleanse.. Ohhh Boy! LMAO... what do I do with it??

Jackie - Thank you for the wonderful thought of cheesecake! I so love cheesecake Not sure which one you mean.. NO-BAKE CHEESECAKE OR NO-BAKE JELLO CHEESECAKE? I'm thinking that you probably mean the NO-BAKE JELLO CHEESECAKE. Ummm.. dumb question.. how does one fold in baking? hahaha I know how to fold clothes, but something tells me it's not the same idea.. Thank you again

Moni - Congrats on the not smoking!! My dh and I have prescriptions to get filled out for Champex.. dh has since lost his! Gotta love how that happens. We'll be joining you sooner or later. I'm betting you're really enjoying the new bikes. Sweet.

Robin - Wooohooo.. way to go lady! A size 12! Keep up the great work!!

Ok.. so where is Bill, Cora, Joe, Mike, F4N, Brittni, Vanessa, and the rest of the gang all hiding at? Elsieeeeeeeeee.. are you playing hostage again?

      Morning everyone!

Today is the start of my two day weekend...yeah I work Sunday through Thursday--gotta love my schedule. I just wanted to do a short post since I probably won't be online much this weekend.

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and positive words. I can't remember a time that I even wore a size 12. I just know that it's a big step. I was wearing size 16 pants to work and I felt horrible..now I wear the new pants and I feel awesome. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but with this weight loss there's about 5 pounds difference between me and DH! It's amazing because when we first met there was a 35 to 40 pound difference (and that was in 2004!).

I'm having some issues with my left wrist right now..I think I strained it at work which in my line of work isn't impossible..so I'm making this a short one. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

      --Robin

PS: I bought the cream of tartar yesterday..might be doing the oopsie rolls this weekend!

sassy-it's so great to see you back and posting regularly again. i'm sorry you've hit a rocky patch with the way you are feeling bout the diet. i'm sure we've all been there at some point. i know right now you feel like you are not ready to move onto OWL, but in light of your emotions right now, and even though you say you have alot of weight to go before you feel comfortable moving on i hope you'll hear me out on this. induction was truly only meant to last to 2 weeks to help detox the body. Dr. A did say you could stay on it longer however, he also said that if boredom of food sets in, it could lead to straying from plan, and recommended that one move onto OWL. the first rung is only veggies, and believe it or not, there are some things you could add even on the first rung that might help when you are missing sweets. actually, there's really no reason you couldn't have these recipes for induction too. i just never did until i moved onto the first rung. if you've never tried jicama before, that is great to use to make mock fried apples. here's the link from linda's site for it. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes also pumpkin is another great thing to have as long as you get canned pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling (they are usually right next to each other on the shelf, so i have to really watch to make sure i get the right one). you can add cinnamon and splenda to it, i love having that for breakfast. jicama and pumpkin are a little higher carb veggies, and make it a little easier to get those extra 5 carbs a day. there is also another dessert you can have during induction, but because of the sour cream and heavy cream being special catagory foods during induction it's better to wait until the dairy rung (rung 2). i put my filling in mini muffin tins and place in the freezer, once firm, i take out and put in plastic containers and keep in the freezer, allowing myself one every so often. oh, and i also cut down the splenda to about 1/3 c and omit the vanilla alltogether.

i am providing this info in hopes that maybe it will convince you to move on to OWL. just as elsie is, i'm a strong advocate as well to climbing up the rungs. there's no reason to stay on induction for so long that you become an emotional wreck because of the foods you can't have. when in reality if one moved onto OWL after the 2 week induction period, they could have been having some of the foods they are missing just because they moved along with the plan as suggested. even if you moved on to just the first rung, you could comfortably stay there for weeks at a time before moving to the next rung. many people doing extended induction, after really reviewing their menu find that they are actually doing rung one anyways after a while cause they are eating more veggies than they thought they were.

i really felt the need to post this as it seems you are really struggling and in need of some support and suggestions. so there are just some things for you to consider. also, i know you said because you live in canada that there are not much choices in the low carb department.
remember the best low carb foods, are the ones you find that are natural and wholesome and unprocessed. the low carb products once so readily available, were merely convience foods(frankenfoods) and for the most part should be avoided anyway. i'd rather spend time in the kitchen creating my own low carb dishes.

hope this helps sassy, and i will try to respond to all the other posts when i get home from work.

((Sally)) you made me laugh so hard with your post. Glad to hear that you are making some changes. How long have you been on extended induction? If you have been there forever maybe your body needs the change.

I know the first time around I stayed on induction for two months before adding other things in. If I really looked at my menu though... I would say that I moved up wrungs but didnt really know it. It is up to you what you want to do. We will support you no matter what.

I do not believe the recipe that you were given is a box recipe for the cheese cake. It is cream cheese and then you mix that with a box of jello. The other stuff would be just loaded with carbs I would imagine.

Okay, yesterday I screwed up by taking advil. Check my spelling if you need to, but I think whatever is in that candy coating messed with me. After taking the stuff I got really sick in a matter of twenty minutes. I stuck to a low carb menu for lunch so it couldnt have been the food. Anyone have any idea what the candy coating is?

            Sassy1,
I mean the NO-BAKE JELLO CHEESECAKE. You fold it by placing the cream cheese jello mixture on top of the whip cream. Then gently fold it over rotating the bowl in a circle. Sorry, I don’t know how else to explain this. P.S. The recipe I gave you is on Linda’s list.

Not sure where everyone else has been hiding out. But, Corinne has been entrenched in her studies. She just hasn’t had time to get to the board. Where she is an “honors Sigma Lamda Scholar” the college has her up to her eyeballs in work. Hopefully, her schedule will simmer down soon. And Bill has been sent out countless times to different customers. His work is running him ragged. He’s leaving on Monday for a week to Philadelphia to fix/train a client on one of his Spartan machines.

I'ma nut (tck tck) I'ma nut (tck tck) I'ma nut I'ma nut I'ma nut (tck tck) A coconut...that is. Coconut milk comes from cocoNUTS there for on the nut rung not the dairy rung!!!! LOL!!!

Jackie...will be interesting to see (not literally) what your results are.

Shauna...Stevia is acceptable here..even for those who are using artificial sweetners during induction. It is a more natural substitute. I had a plant until my cat ate it. The dried leaves could be used. I found mine at a health food store. When I use it I use 1 drop in my coffee of the liquid stuff.

              Tomorrow...HI (waving at ya)

Sassy...Hugs back girlfriend!! Almonds are for the nut rung..you are right they are a nono. The flax can be used for induction. There is a limit to it. have no idea about the Nutraclease and if it is allowed. You would have to post the ingredients. Hope the Jello does the trick for you. In a tight spot I have been know to mix sour cream and cream cheese and splenda together...with a fork...LOL! Just a little bit because you are only allowed 1 T of sour cream during induction. Ha...can't tell me that you can't do the rungs because you have so much weight to lose when you weigh less than me and are probably taller! The taller thing is a pretty safe bet as I am only 5' short. I won't bug you about it but do be aware that it is there and read lots of posts on the extended induction forum and you will see that there is a lot of struggling there. Like Monie said..even moving up to rung one is still a step. We care about you and want you to succeed! (More hugs)

Folding...is kinda like a gentle big stir. They don't want you to over stir it. Just nice big circles...gently...go in one side...along the bottom and up the other side towards the middle...not round and round...until it is just mixed.

Okay...off to see what is happening DH talking to ICBC..someone hit our old motorhome and drove off...ripped the siding off....^%*^*^^%^$&^%&^%!

Robin...you will like the oopsie rolls!!

hey everyone!!! the weekend's finally here(thank goodness) it seems like the short weeks are longer then the regular ones.

i've been looking forward to this weekend for a while now. my aunt & uncle have a fish fry every year, and we've been missing them the last few years, but they made us promise to come this year. (they hit us up at memorial day and told us not to make any plans this weekend.) i know that there's not gonna be alot of things i can eat there, but i can kinda pick at the fish a little bit, may try to catch them before they dip them in the cornmeal and flour and ask them to fry some up for me without the breading. i'm making a coleslaw, a layered lettuce salad and a cheesecake dessert to take though, so i know i'll have a few things i can eat. my uncle is a diebetic, so there may be a few other things there i could eat, but i probably just stick to the salads i'm making. they know and understand the whole diet thing and i usually try to take something that uncle can eat as well.

well gotta go start cooking, talk to ya all tomorrow.

Hi all - just checking in for the first time in a while. I've been struggling to get back on plan, but I'm not giving up (gee, where have I heard that before?). This last week wasn't the best, but at least I didn't gain any. I'm hoping I can lose about 8 or 9 pounds in the next 10 - 12 days to get close to where I was before I went awol for so long.

After reading so much about them, I'm finally going to try my hand at making oopsie rolls this weekend. That looks like a recipe that even I couldn't screw up too bad - oh, wait, screwing up is how they got to be good in the first place!

Hope everybody has a good day.

I found this info Advil - Uses, Side Effects, Interactions - Drug Factsheets - C-Health
                          Advil (ibuprofen)
A common side effect of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen is stomach upset. This can be minimized by taking the medication immediately after a meal, or with food or milk. If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and carry on with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
It looks as if some forms are sugar coated and some have starch in them so you need to check the packet.

Weigh in day today: Managed to lose 4 lbs in spite of my errant ways so I'm happy. Of course I'm losing pounds I had already lost a month ago. I liked those 14 pounds so much I'm going to lose them twice!

Hope you're all having a good weekend.
