hi everyone... ever seen that commercial " be like mike" after just reading the last 5 pages... i'm just like mike.. i did a goof and then avoided the forum for almost a week... so monday nite, i dont know what caused it.. no particular "mood", no particular time of the month, no particular anything.. however i screwed up BIG TIME.
1 bowl of potato chips (but wait, theres more)
    2 pop tarts
2 popcicles (regular not even sugar free)

so i thought i would feel like crap on tuesday but no, not until dinner time.. got very sleepy.. went to bed at 7 pm, woke up wednesday morning UP 5 LBS.

its saturday and i am still a couple of pounds up... oh my goodness !

anyway, i was ashamed to come here and even read the posts.. oh the shame... (its actually a good motivator) i cant say i will never stumble again, but whoa, that was just a dive off of a cliff.. for what ?? i cant even say i really enjoyed the eating.. it was just there....

anyway thanks for "listenting" i know many of you have " been there, done that" and i hope this total feeling of "screwed up big time" will remind me not to go off plan again....

after reading 5 pages not sure who's who anymore... so to all.. keep up the good work, just jump back on the "horse" if you have fallen, i have climbed back up to the top of the cliff.. the view is much nicer up here

thanx for all of your support and encouragement -

Holding - I think what's throwing me off is trying to stay on extended induction. The pattern has been that I'm really good for about 3 weeks, then start cheating a little, then fall off completely. I'm going to do a 2 week induction then move to OWL. I think the added variety will help me stay on track.

Sugar - I know the feeling, but don't be ashamed to come back here after a stumble. I've been off the wagon for almost 2 weeks and have gained back 12 pounds, so your transgression is nothing to be embarrassed about. Let's make a pact to keep checking in here, with good news or bad. Staying connected to the forums means we haven't given up.

Hope everybody has a good weekend.

Dang Sugar...that is a high price to pay for not even really enjoying the food. What do you think set you off? Were you getting close to a mini goal? Sometimes actually doing well and succeeding can scare us more than we know. Maybe there was a hidden sugar in something you ate that set you off. Or did you add a new food. Last night I was having this feeling...you know the one? Where you keep wondering to the kitchen and opening the fridge looking for something?? Anyway...at first I thought maybe it was from the sugar DD put in my coffee from the day before but what I figured out it really was was that I hadn't eaten enough protein for the day. So I had some protein and the feeling went away. Good for you though for getting right back on track after it though!!! That is huge. Please don't feel like you need to avoid the boards when you are going through that. This buddy list is meant for the hard times too...not just checking in when we are doing good.

Mike....you learned a huge lesson about extended induction! If you spend some time on that forum you will see that happening a lot. One of the reasons I am such an advocate for moving up the rungs. And a huge lesson about yourself. I think it is great that you were able to discern the pattern! Good on ya!

wow.. you guys really are awesome...

Mike : i think i have what you have... staying on extended induction too long, maybe it is time to move on up the rungs...
pact with mike * i solemly swear that I will come here even if i dont feel "worthy"*

Elsie : i was getting close to a mini goal..i set my first mini goal at 275 and i hit 277 just barely.. then whamo ! ooh success ? not something i have had a lot of in the weightloss realm.. ooh afraid of success hmmm? that sounds about right.. ya know the last time i really lost a lot of weight and felt good about myself i was recently divorced.. and have gained weight since being re-married.. do you think..maybe.. hmmm.. i hate to even say this "out loud" but - when i am thinner i feel really good about myself and get very flirty.. which was fine when i was single..but now that i am married.. i dont want to jeopardize my marriage and sabotaging my weight loss / even briefly.. oohh.. revelation here.. i have to learn how to control my diet AND my subsequent flirty-ness when i am feeling good about my-self. that will take work !

          THANX EVERYONE !

Sugar...See...I only hit the nail on the head because of been there done that. Last time I did Atkins I got down to 177 and then a combo of slacking off on watching what was in my food and the fear of success. It took me a while to figure it out after but yep. Now even knowing it doesn't mean that subconsiously it won't happen again...the wanting to just eat part. Sometimes even now I can get 'bingey' feeling on a Sunday because Monday is a weigh day. But now being aware of it it has stopped me from giving in and now hopefully you as well. Amazing what you learn on the WOE.

Hey..get this...am I the only one who thought Soy Sauce was okay from induction on?? It is actually a rung 9 item!!! Who'da thunk it?!

I only use if very sporadically. Less than once every 2 weeks. And never the day before weigh day. But it is part of my marinade. Guess I won't have to test that food out on rung 9...LOLOL!

What I meant was that it wouldn't allow me to add anymore, as it was telling me I had hit the max. on characters and such.? I was trying to figure a way to add my latest info without deleting any/all info I had already written.

As it turns out, I just deleted it all and re-wrote a little bit. This doesn't help me though, for down the road I'm sure I'll hit this road block again.

Jackie, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. It's funny how you can not actually have contact with someone and still feel like you do kind of know them when you actually do communicate. With Bill always talking about you and your DD, it makes it feel like you have always been in the room. I'm happy that we all get the chance to communicate with one another like we do.

Elsie - I definitely have the mini-goal problem! Two weeks ago today I was right at my second minigoal, then I completely fell off the wagon. In the past, I've fallen off the wagon after reaching a certain date that I was shooting for. Not sure how to handle that - minigoals are motivators, but I can't feel like "I'm done" when I reach one.

Well I said I would post my weekly weigh-in results no matter how bleak, so here it is: gained 7 lbs. (14 for the entire 2 weeks I was off plan). Now I move on.

Today I will eat right because: I don't like feeling like a junkie always scrambling for my next fix.

                    Have a great weekend everybody!

                        • Re: Buddy List Aug 11 and onwards

hey guys, just thought i'd pop in and say hello. so many post i don't know where to start so i'll just start with today's post as i'd never be able to respond to all that's posted in the last couple days.

mike- so sorry about the weight gain, but it sounds like you are ready to get back on the wagon once again. for me, mini goals are something i've never really set, but i can see how reaching one could create a tendency for someone to say i've done so good this far, and since i reached a goal, i should reward myself. i only have set a long term goal for myself, but at this point i'm not sure i'll make it, the funny thing is, with all the exercise i've been doing, i may end up still being smaller than i expected on my goal date without it showing on the scale.

holding-sorry to hear you had to deal with a very miserable person. i've worked with a couple people like that and it's not fun. i have a little idea about what to do the next time you are in that situation. since you will be the one driving them all around, you choose the restaurant....if they complain, tell them the next time one of them can drive. you shouldn't have to suffer just because they are not willing to go somewhere that everyone can eat. also, maybe next time, you could pack a few things to take with you in a little collaspable cooler. celery and dip, pepperoni, and string cheese are all pretty great things to take along with you. that way you can keep from getting completely starved during long times away from home. as far as the atkins bars go, you did ok in that situation. they are best when eaten only for emergencies, and i think you delima applied as just that. they really shouldn't be used as an everyday thing though. you should be just fine, but you may want to drink a little extra water today just to flush out anything that was in the bars not allowed on induction.

well a little bit about me. i've been doing pretty good. i've been eating right, i've been exercising, and doing pretty good on my water intake as well. the best news of all is that i've officially quit smoking for 1 week now. there is some bad news along with the good though, since quitting, i've been chewing alot of gum(sugar free of course), and i've definately been going over my sweetner allotment. which in turn is causing some cravings. i've not been eating anything off plan, but just been eating alot, and craving sweet things. at the moment, i think i'm gonna just have to deal with it, because the alternative of ending up starting to smoke again is not something i want to do. some more good news though is that a new YMCA(family oriented) opened up this past monday. we went to the open house for it last weekend, and decided yesterday to go join. we may go in this afternoon for our first time to just learn how to use the equipment so that we can start on tuesday hitting the gym in earnest. i'm looking forward to being able to swim also. plus, there are spinning classes and water aroebic classes i can take as well.

well gotta go. i'm heading to target to see if they have muffin top pans, i heard a rumor that i can find them there. still been looking, should've already ordered them online months ago, but just never did. those oopsie rolls have been a life saver this week, and i've got a giant pizza pan size one sitting in my kitchen waiting for some toppings to be put on it for a pizza night tonight.

                          take care everyone.
                          monie

Sassy...when I went to change my weight from 221 to 217 I had to delete that little pic of my dog and the link to the never ending induction thread and I wasn't even adding stuff. Weird!

Mike...I think that now that you are aware of why you feel like cheating that that may help you stay the course. At least now you will have a chance to reason it out before hand.

Holding...congrats on saying goodbye to the 240's!!!

Monie...1 week smoke free!!! You go girl!! Don't give in to those cravings. Have a small protein/fat snack instead.Remember there is no rule that says you have to have a new piece of gum just because the flavor left the old piece. Chew on the flavourless piecse a little longer and that will help cut back a bit on how many pieces of gum you have a day. (2 cents) Stay strong buddy!

Tomorrow is labor day...a paid day off (which is a plus in my line of work) but yeah..I had a bad weekend. I ended up crying a lot on Saturday because I feel really frustrated with my diet and the fact that I can't enjoy the things that I used to. I wanted to cheat but I ended up not doing it...go me.

                              So yeah..not much to report...

                              Post again sometime soon.

good evening everyone!!!! just thought i'd stop in and say hello.

elsie-the siggy problems you are having is something i brought up in the tech forum and was provided this link http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...trictions.html it should help answer any questions you have about it.

robin-sorry you had a bad weekend. you know there's so many things that you can make low carb versions of that there is really no reason to feel upset. this diet is not just eggs, cheese, veggies and meat. if i knew some of the things you were really missing i'd be willing to help you find a low carb recipe for it. i just had a pizza tonight, and got a recipe for brownies that sherri posted the other day and they are in the oven now.

my day went rather well. DH dropped me off at the Y so i could workout, and he went and ran errands for about an hour. had a pretty good first workout. we are hoping to go for a bike ride in the morning.

well i'm gonna go for now, hope you all have a great labor day.
