    Hello all...

Okay..so I am going to say something that you all don't want to hear. I might have to stop doing the Atkins diet--I've been dealing with a lot of health related issues that scare DH and we think it's best to modify my diet. Still keeping with Atkins' idea of lower carbs and everything--eating more veggies and meat but introduce more carbs than what Atkins allows. I'm having stomach issues and terrible leg cramps (sometimes up to 10 episodes at night) to where I don't sleep at all.

I want to thank everyone for their encouragement and I'd love to thanks Dr A. for helping me lose 10+ pounds so far. I just think that modifying my diet to work for me alone is going to be the way to keep me losing and resolve my issues. I will probably still check in with everyone here. Don't worry..I'll give you guys updates!

    I will post again soon..

Robin - I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get better soon! Have you spoken to your doctor about the pains you are having? I really hope you stay in touch with us and let us know how you're doing.

Jackie - I totally need a full day to myself, but with the insanity of work it's hard to come by. However, DH and I have a vacation coming up for our first anniversary! We're going to Niagara Falls. It should be fun!

DH made me some Cocoa Flax Cookies last night. He found the recipe at Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes. I had two of them. They were pretty good, though not really chocolately. They tasted a lot of like oatmeal (not oatmeal cookies).

Robin...of course I speak for all of us when I say that we are sorry to hear that and hope that you will check in now and then and let us know how you are doing.

Okay..now for my two cents...LOL...you didn't think you would get away that easy did ya??? LOLOL! I don't think any where does Dr A restrict the amount of carbs that you are supposed to be eating except during induction and how you add them. You can go as high as your body will allow. After that it is about adding carbs and new foods back in. You have been on Atkins long enough that your carb count could easily be much more than induction levels if you follow the book. And you could be eating a wider variety of foods by following the rungs. I would suggest that you climb the rungs adding more food and carbs back in that way.

Okay..I know that won't convince you to stay but I had to try. That being said your leg cramps could be a lack of potassiam(sp?). I suggest you see your doctor. I would hate for you to blame the diet and think that just eating different is going to fix it if it is something more serious.

Take care...do check in. have a happy journey!

Robin - i agree with elsie that you should see your dr. and atkins definately gives you more variety and choices further up the rungs... see the dr and see what he/she says ?? and come back and check in ....

carmella - niagra falls sounds fun.. being a west coast girl my whole life i have always wanted to visit the east coast.... tell us all about it when you get back the closest i ever got was dating a guy who was raised in brooklyn.. hehe..loved his accent

the scale is stuck.. i blame my dh for those fruit bars... and maybe the fact that i havent been eating enough veggies... making the mock hashbrown casserole today.. cauliflower with sour cream and green onions.. mmmm my mother in law makes them with cream of chicken soup.. dont think thats an option so i hope they come out good without it... we'll see... going to a co-workers for dinner tonite.. taking the casserole as my veggie donation

have a great weekend everyone... keep up the good work, and all that stuff

oh and happy day after anniversary to the bazz's - anyone married over 15-20 years is my hero !!

                  Hi All,
This is me and DH’s 1st day back on Induction. We are prepping for our trip to Florida because we are going to eat some highly desirable morsels while down there. Not going to go too crazy, but we want to be ready incase we break down more than we plan too.

Happy Anniversary to you too Elsie! Guess we are Sugars Hero’s! And isn’t it nice to have commonalities, but this is freaking me out…….LOL……In a good way!

                  Sugar,
If you look close enough, you’ll see both Elsie and me online at the same time. You might have to blink a few times, but we aren’t faking this “Twin-ality” thing. LOL!

                  Robin,
I too agree with Elsie. Don’t be tweaking in any bad ways my dear. See a doctor, it’s worth it. I get leg and toe cramps when my body loses weight too quickly. So does DD. The 1st thing our nutritionist prescribed was “potassium”. So, I take potassium to combat against it when I start getting the cramps. Also, can you still do Atkins if you go to the highest rung? I think we are allowed bread like “7 grain pepperage farm”, which is really yummy. If not, good luck on your new WOE, we’ll be here to support you.

                  Caramella,
Oooooh! Niagra Falls sounds romantic. I’ve never been there, but that’s where my parents went on their honeymoon, over 50 years ago! Am glad to see DH made you cookies. You deserve them! (Bill….think we can try these cookies?) I have to laugh here because every time I hear or see the word cookies, I think of one (just one) event that took place in my life that relates to cookies. DH and I were on our honeymoon (cruise to Bermuda) on a fancy Italian cruise ship. We were finished with our dinner and were in the process of deciding on desert. While attempting to do this, our assigned waiter came to the table and flung his arms up in the air shouting “Who took-ah tha cookies-ah!, Who took-ah tha cookies-ah!, Who took-ah tha cookies-ah!” (Apparently somebody stole our cookies)……LOL. OK, I guess you had to be there, just sharing a little honeymoon humor. I hope you have one of these memorable events on your honeymoon Caramella!

                  Bill,
Don’t be trying to get out of the Anniversary category thing now. I believe we are up to the ‘get another pet’ rung of our years together. I think we need to add more fur to the house atmosphere. “Maltese” was on the list of possibilities. LOL! And don’t even think about any torture tactics……..I’m watching every move you make.

Oh my where has the time gone!

                    Sugar...how did the cooking go?

Bill...you gutted a room and already have the ceiling done?? You are remodeling animals! LOL! I still have to finish painting a wall in the dining area. We move much slower...LOL! Am going to sit down and look for that section in the book. Very interesting?! Oh...Jackie is right...it is add another pet year. Tombstone is the 25th year one.

Jackie...hate to tell you but our last set of dogs we had one was a lab and the other a Maltese. LOL! Timothy James...but we called him TJ for short. They do need either brushing or haircuts for the up keep. Pain in the butt for me...that is why this little puppy we got is a short hair breed.

Okay..now for what I've been up to. Saturday...8 of us went for a 6 hour ATV ride. WHAT FUN! Now that is exercise I can handle...LOL! Except for the dust it was great. I was sore the next day in my arms and across my shoulders. Today I did something I think you all will be proud of me for. I actually went BY MYSELF (this is huge for me as I am quite shy in new situations) to my first exercise class!!! They said it was for beginners and seniors. Circuit training. Which I thought meant machines. But we used hand weights, baseball bats, basketballs, and a step. I did better than I thought I would. Never stopped once...would have at home...hard work!! I really admire the seniors in the class. Even the 3 younger, skinny women in the class were sweating by the end. 1 hour long. I felt quite comfortable there and will go back. $45 gets me 10 classes so will do those and see how I feel.

elsie - way to go on the class.. wow i am so proud of you ! i took a pilates class once but it was with my husband (oh my were we sore the next day) however, all alone by yourself..good job !! keep up the good work..

cooking went well... cauliflower doesnt absorb moisture the way potatoes do (nor do they have the starch) so it was a bit more liquid than i would have liked..however with all the cheese when it cooled down a bit it was thicker..1 cup sour cream and 1 cup shredded cheese, with onions, spices and bacon ?? how could it not be great ? my friend/co worker said her 21 yr old stepson doesnt "do" veggies... and he had 2 helpings.. so it was a hit !!

bazz's congrats on the new pet... back when the pet rock thing was first going on.. my mother got herself a "pet" rail-road spike , had a cage for it and everything.. it was a hoot... (no need to wonder where i get my goofiness from.. its all her!) but i do agree with elsie, bill you got the hairless variety.. should have gone with a hairier version.. i know pet rocks are trainable as they learn to sit and stay very well.. not so good with heal tho ..

Saturday is the bridal shower, and since its 9:30 in the morning they are doing breakfast foods eggs. sausage, etc.. so i will be able to eat. but i am giving the devotion (talk) and so i probably wont be able to eat anything.. my son asked me what i am going to do at the rehearsal dinner since we are doing pizza and pasta.. i told him i would have to bring a chicken or something.. parents of the groom traditionally pay for the dinner..so here i am paying for all this pizza and pasta and not able to eat any of it.. seems a bit wrong to me...

and i picked up my dress yesterday (needed an alteration as it had a small tear near the hem..) its beautiful.. now i need to find shoes... silver if possible (the wedding colors are blue and silver)

i am going to start excercising with a vengance after the wedding (oct 25) as i cant seem to find time now.. i belong to a gym (havent gone in 6 months) so i will start stopping there after work most days - think i am going to start doing the machine circuit.. (weights) and build me some muscle.. that and the eliptical machine (used to love that machine.. good on the knees but a nice cardio workout if you keep up the pace anyway)

hope everyone has a good week keep up the good work... !!
