    Hola all!

I wanted to do just a brief post..since I don't really have much going on at the moment. We will be doing a "walk through" of the new house soon...each day there is something different. We now have grass! We close on the house on October 7th..not soon enough

I tried something tonight but didn't have all the ingredients to make it. I went to Linda's website and looked up "faux hash browns". I tried to do what she said but I didn't have the bacon nor did I have the onion. They turned out okay...not as flavorful as I would want them to be. *shrugs* It was an experiment that I would do again providing I have onions

Alright, I won't lie...I haven't lost any weight in the past week and a half--thanks to my friend stress. I haven't been eating enough veggies..just eating the cheese and meats. I am going to be better once this stress is permanently gone...I'm not too upset with myself. I'm feeling better as I had a HUGE and NASTY cold all last week. I still have the stuffy nose and dry throat right now...but it's going away.

Alright, going to get offline and attempt sleep. Going grocery shopping in the morning with DH and then we're going to check out the house! \

hey everyone, it's been forever since i posted. i had every intention to catch up with everyone this past sunday after returning home from the Bengals first home game. however, mother nature threw a wrench in my plans. a huge wind storm came blowing our way from the aftermath of hurricane Ike. basically caused a state wide blackout. we were without power for 3 days. we lost power around 2:30 pm sunday and it just came back on @ 6:15 pm wednesday. unfortunately, i've been off plan since the blackout, and won't really be able to get back on plan til the weekend. most of our local supermarkets lost all their perishable foods and doesn't look like the shelves will be completely restocked for a couple days. we were lucky that we didn't lose any of the food we had as DH had traded with a co-worker, earlier in the summer, a gas powered radio controlled airplane for a generator. the bad news was that i had never really stocked the fridge and freezer up with food for the week, and so we had to scrape by with whatever we had. managed to find a grocery store opened at one point and got just a few can goods to get us through, but nothing that was very diet friendly.

needless to say, i'm pretty disappointed in that i've had to stray from the plan, but i've not gone crazy or anything so things could be worse. however, i'm also very greatful that there was no major damage to our property, just a few small limbs out of our trees. none of our family members had any damage to their homes or cars either. my prayers go out to those in texas and surrounding areas that have suffered so much. our little blackout was nothing compared to what they've had to endure. only a minor inconvience.

we will be getting back on track soon i'm sure. i say "we" because DH will be starting back on plan with me soon. the meds he started taking for his thyroid have caused him to gain weight. i think after this weekend he will be ready to start back on the plan, if not then maybe by oct. 1st he'll be ready. him being on induction will help me be able to stay on plan as well. i'll be making sure to get veggies in for his meals, and therefore be more accountable getting my veggies in too.

well, i hope everyone is doing ok. i hope you all didn't think i had abandoned you. i really missed you all and was going crazy during the blackout not being able to get online. take care and talk to you all again soon.

(((Monie))) I was wondering if you had ridden off into the sunset with your new body and forgotten about us. So glad to hear it isn't so. Sad to hear why you were away though!!! That was not good! Hope the scale is good to you. Great news that DH is joining you. Meds suck!!! Hopefully the change in eating habits for him will work.

Sugar....guess the flip side of losing 3 months work is how much you gain from it..losing the weight...being healthier...living longer...just getting your life back...they must get paid to be on the show...you think?? LOL...the "girls"...

            Monie,
the meds he started taking for his thyroid have caused him to gain weight” what type of thyroid condition does DH have? Hyper or Hypo? Bill thinks my meds are stalling me. I take “L-Thyroxine (Snythroid) 88 mcg” I have a Hypo-Thyroid condition. Wonder if we have the same problem? And seriously, did you and DH sit around a campfire with a can of baked beans? LOL… Hope you get decent food soon.

            Sugar,
My girls are slowly vanishing. I hope I don’t end up inverted. LOL! Hey, I’m still wearing my shorts. I’m hoping the next time I have to wear jeans they won’t fit. But, I doubt that because they were extremely tight before. I think the only ones that will fit are my stretch ones.

            Elsie,
Glad to see you cooking more. I ended up doing a grocery run last night and stuck Bill with the cooking. He only made a roasted chicken, chicken nuggets, and squash. Looks like tonight will be the big veggie cook off! Seriously, I’m glad Bill loves to cook. And hey, regarding the “Biggest Loser”, would you ever go on national television wearing just shorts and a bra? I don’t think I could ever do that, even if I were at my goal weight. Guess you have to be put in that situation to know what you would do. I think they get paid to be on the show to compensate lost wages for time away from work.

            Robin,
Sad to hear you had to endure horrible stress. Once the house is yours, you will finally be able to breathe again. Just keep thinking happy thoughts and don’t let stress keep you from sleeping so that your body can rejuvenate itself.

Jackie...here is the only way I would appear on Biggest loser in that kind of workout outfit. If they are doing a Canadian/American team thing...then you and I can do it together..and I want to have Bob as my coach...because I don't think they would let Bill coach us...LOL! Deal???!

                    Hi everyone!

Monie - glad to see you are back!

Robin - sorry to hear about the stress, but glad you've gotten over your cold.

The faux hash browns sound good. There's another recipe I have to try. I think I'm going to have DH actually make them as I'm sick of my kitchen right now. I feel like I've lived in just that space for the last 5 days. I've been baking everyday this week. First it was to help my aunt get rid of figs that grew in her backyard. Then, the last 3 days I've been baking for birthday gifts.

I am so tired, but I'm waiting for DH to get home from the Yankees game. Hopefully, I can con him into driving me to work tomorrow so I can sleep in a bit.

                    Night everyone!

oh man .. all the baseball games you guys are going to .. originally from L.A. and come from a long line of Dodger fans.... however we dont live close to anything.. Seattle is a 4 hr drive.. i have taken the amtrak to seattle for a Mariners game tho.. and took my son to a dodger game when he was in LA going to college.. however.. alas all we have here in Portland is the triple A team (beavers) Farm team for the Padres... oh well.. maybe i should rent "field of dreams" to get my baseball fix .. hehe

i didnt think any reality show pays the contestants unless they win ?? now that would be something.. i would totally go on biggest loser if i didnt have to move my family into a 1 bd apt or live with my mother in law or something crazy like that.. and i always teeter between bob and jillian... hes very new age and shes just crazy mean.. but they both get results.. oh and i would totally join the canadian/american biggest loser team woo hoo.. lets all wear skimpy work out bras and puke on national television... my kind of summer !

had a bad case of heart burn wednesday nite.. sent hubby to the store for some "sugar free popsicles" he came back with NO SUGAR ADDED. .fruit bars.. with splenda.. they helped but i think because i am no where near the fruit rung.. that i may stall or hiccup for a day or two.. havent weighed today.. afraid of the numbers.. so i bought some pepto bismal for if theres a next time..

have a great friday everyone.. keep on cooking (bazz's, mike, elsie) keep hanging in there (robin and monie) let me know what challenge you want us to do (shauna)

LOL Bill...are the commercials really that long? Guess I don't notice because that is when I check on the kids, empty the dishwasher, let the dogs in, out, back it, tidy kitchen, pee, put the clothes in the laundry, refill my water glass...I thought that was what commercials was for..to get your other work done. LOL! Have all those veggies growing in the garden.

Yes...a small group of us ladies get together...this will be our...hmmmm....7th-8th year I think. Lots of shopping, drinking, laughing, drinking, scrapbooking, drinking, being goofy. A great time!

Caramella....that sucks...all that cooking and nothing for you.

I ended up with 6 servings of Just like baked potatoes (only 4 oz cream cheese and 4 oz cheese), 8 1 cup servings of cauliflower to make pizza crusts or faux baked potates with, 6 servings of Ques. Quice, 6 servings of broccoli and onion Quice, 1 serving of broccoli, 2 servings of spaghetti squash. I am trying to work harder at getting my veggies in and to make it easier to do so. Still have some wonderful looking red banana peppers that i was thinking of stuffing. Have already diced some. But thought that would be a yummy way to eat a veggie. Have two eggplants to use up too. And 2 zuchinni. And lots of tomatoes. A good garden this year.

Sugar...no sugar in peptomismal?? I am sure the heartburn issue has been address here somewhere. Hmmm...some interesting replies if you do a search for 'heartburn' here. I would think that they get a certain amount of money for being on the show...under actor's guild (sp?) and that would be only fair as the shows bring in so much money...hence the 15 minute commercials...LOL!

Okay...off to clean the house...DD (10) bringing a boy(11) (YIKES) home today...she likes him(she waits until I am driving to ask me how old she has to be to kiss a boy...AAAHHHHH...almost drove off the road...LOL) but he only likes her as a friend(WHEW)...he apparently likes highschool girls(Good luck there buddy)....LOLOL!!! (gray hairs popping up big time)

                          Elsie,
Deal! You and me, a team to beat the scales, on Biggest Loser! Just the commercial breaks could be an avenue for a challenge. Looks like you and I are doing the same thing, I tend to use that time to complete chores too. But, it looks as though you beat me in that challenge. It drives Bill nuts, which is why I think I do it even more. LOL! And DH is kidding about shooting the pets. He doesn’t have the guts to do it. It’s better for him to put up with the pets than to deal with my wrath. Elsie, when you start to go grey from your kids’ escapades, then there is always that magic bottle of dye! Corinne and I are going to dye our hair in October when her roots start to get really gross. She promises me that she will grow her hair long again and go back to black hair. I can’t wait! Even though she looks cute with short blonde hair, I like her hair black and long better. And I’m dying my hair medium brown and getting caramel highlights! I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait!

                          Bill,
Don’t pump me up too much. My head may end up out weighing the rest of me. LOL! I’m hoping to walk another 2 hours tonight with Magic Bean stretches before hand. With TOM over on Sunday, I’m hoping to see results on my Wednesday weigh in day. As long as I don’t bend/stretch forward, I think I can stay out of pain. See everybody, Bill really does love me! He’d have to, to put up with my shenanigans all these years. Today marks our 22nd year of marriage! Woo Hoo…..Celebrating with a steak and Cheesecake! It’s amazing I’ve been able to snowball DH in staying with me this long. LOL! (I made a funny…..tee hee hee).

                          Sugar,
Before the Atkins diet I used to get heartburn nearly every single day. I think I’ve had it maybe twice since I started this WOE. When I get it, I take Pepcid. It works like a charm, and I don’t believe it stalls me. Pepto-Bismol may have added sugars that could stall you, that’s why I stopped taking it. Heck, I think I was addicted to that stuff.

                          Caramella,
You need to set a side one full day for YOU. And just cook for yourself. Enough with pleasing everyone elses taste buds. You come first. Ya hear me girl? You come first!
