    ***YAWN*** Hey Bud's!
Ack! latenight for me..and I still have a ton of work to do in the morning..just wound a bit and being here helps me unwind....

Monie--I agree with the motions of the addiction--there are certain things that just don't feel right unless there is something in my hand..like you I think I'm well past cravings..5, 6 even 7 hours may pass before I feel I'm missing something..people say chew gum?? never chewed gum before--don't see how that's going to give my hands something to do?
Hey--that's a fight for another day--one addiction at a time!! Geez

Holdin--Hear you on the Doctor!! last time I saw mine (for my horrendous migraines) he decided to pull out a picture of the Yacht he wanted to buy! then told me I might be drinking to much coffee! looking now for a new family doctor...learned more on the Migraine Institute Web site then I would have ever learned from him! migraines now only 1 or 2 times a year!

And of coarse doing anything that makes you sweat counts!! remember the body can only get rid of the fat your burning by water and threw your breathe! harder you breathe the better!

    Let's deal with the stall..
post your menu for a day..there maybe something there..are you introducing anything new to your diet? **nuts**
Big question is..are you still in Lipolysis? do you have Keto stix to measure your keytones?

    Cooking..
when I'm not grilling..I have 3 Crock pot's going..we get so busy--it's nice to have a hot meal to come home to. in one would be a pot roast--an irish stew in the other and a soup in the last. also do a lot of the quiche's on Linda's site for breakfast..and almost all the Casserole's too!
really into pressure cooker's--veggie's are awesome cooked this way and the Chile is award winning!

Any new food I introduce to the family--we only have every other day for a week--Last week we tried Soy Flour--100% protein--we had it Monday
Wendsday and Saturday--then tested ourselves this morning and we are still in Lipolysis..We only use it for Frying..Being on Cape Cod--Fish is a big staple for us--so nice to have fried fish and clams and veggie's again!

Holding...more on your 'stall' Dr A says a stall is when you haven't lost weight for about 6 weeks. This is where taking the measurements can help ease your mind.

Okay...from looking at your menu you are following the old version. And some of it can explain your 'stall'. Go buy the 2002 book. A small investment for something you are going to be doing for the rest of your life. Worth every penny. Here is where I will shock everyone since I am probably known as an advocate for climbing the rungs. Get the book...in the meantime read the stickies in the induction forum. And I think you should do 2 weeks induction by the 2002 edition. (I know...I can hear some of my buddies say WHAT? Elsie said STAY on INDUCTION?)

You are not getting enough veggies in. 2 cups salad veggies (that means not just lettuce) and 1 cup other veggies (stickies in the induction forum will give you a list)(stickie in the main forum will give you a print out for your wallet). You need these veggies every day!!

NO tortillas allowed. The meat stick may have some sugar in it so you might want to check that. With the meat stick and the bacon you may be high in salt...something I don't worry about as I can't fix everything at once but something I want you to be aware of...and also of course that can help you retain water.

You have been very successful so far doing it the old way. You will be more successful doing it the 2002 way now that the weight loss has slowed down. Read the stickies...don't give me the I don't have time thing...you do if you make it a priority...reading a couple of stickies a day will add up better than nothing at all. Are you willing?? Or do you want us just to encourage you and let you do the plan your way? You let us know what you need from us!! Big hugs!!

      Oh...wait a minute....check out my next post....

Here is a really helpful post by Not2Late:

        Before you begin:

        1. Read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition.

At the very least, read chapters 10 through 14. These chapters tell you how to do the diet, what to expect, and why the first 14 days are so important.

ADBB uses DANDR 2002 as its reference. Granted there are other publications by Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. but we like to do the diet as it was written by Dr. Robert C. Atkins because in our collective experience Dr. Atkins' diet is more effective than Atkins Nutritionals, Inc's version.

        2. See your physician.
Dr. Atkins recommended this himself. See your physician for a complete physical exam, including blood tests before beginning this or any other diet and exercise program.

Also take the Blood Sugar Symptom Test found in the book.

        3. Make a commitment.
Commit yourself to giving the 14 day Induction a fair shot. If you can't commit yourself to 14 days of following rules and eating the foods listed in the acceptable foods list, this diet might not be for you.

        4. Prepare your kitchen
If it's not on the list, remove it from your home. If you live with people who aren't on a low carb diet, then put your food(s) in areas separate from theirs. Also make sure you have low carb snacks available to you at all times, in case you get hungry.

        5. Recruit your family and friends.
You are about to embark on a completely new lifestyle. Getting the support of your family and friends will help you through this. Be frank with them and tell them your intentions and that this is very important to you. If they have any doubts about this diet, ask them to read the book because knowledge is power.

        6. Keep the Induction Rules and Foods List handy.
Make two copies of these documents: keep one on your refrigerator at home and keep the other one on your person at all times. This will save you a lot of guesswork and worry when eating out or grocery shopping.

The Rules of Induction can be found here:
What are the Rules of Induction?

The Induction Acceptable Foods List can be found here:
What foods can be eaten on Induction?

        7. Read the entire label, including the ingredients.
Some foods have little carbs, but contain things like hydrogenated oils (trans fats) and sugar, which makes them unacceptable for Induction.

        8. Keep a food diary
It is of utmost importance to keep track of your daily carbohydrate intake to make sure you are not exceeding 20 net carbohydrates daily.

Some people keep a notebook journal. Others like to track their progress online.

        Here are some resources:
        An Atkins spreadsheet:
        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=4570

http://www.fitday.com ---This is a free online service (registration required) that allows you to input your foods, track your exercise, etc.

        Carbohydrate Counters:
http://www.atkins.com ---The Atkins site has a downloadable Carb Counter.
http://www.calorieking.com ---This site has nutritional information for most foods and beverages.
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ ---This is the United States Department of Agriculture Nutrition Database.

        9. Exercise
According to Dr. Atkins "exercise is non-negotiable"! So get moving. Begin according to your level of fitness. Visit the Exercise Forum.

        10. Vitamin Supplements
These are also recommended by Dr. Atkins because many of us have poor nutrition and we need extra nutrients. Visit the Vita-Nutrient Forum.

        11. Weigh AND Measure Yourself on Day 1

Make sure you weigh and measure yourself before you begin this diet. Contrary to what we are lead to believe, the scale isn't the best tool for measuring weight loss (fat loss). It doesn't tell you how much muscle you gained. It doesn't tell you how much water weight you gained or lost. It doesn't tell you that you will fit into that pair of jeans.

        Tips for weighing:
        a. Weigh yourself at the same time of day under the same conditions. You can weigh "more" after a meal or after you drink water or you can weigh "less" after you exercise or have a bowel movement. So pick a time and stick to it. Likewise, clothing can also add on "pounds". So if you choose to weigh yourself wearing clothes, make sure you are wearing the same clothing or nearly the same clothing.

        b. Use the same scale. Scales differ slightly. So the scale in your doctor's office or at the gym might have you weighing more or less than the scale in your bathroom.

        Tips for measuring:
        a. You can measure whatever body areas you want: chest, waist, hips, thighs, upper arm, wrists and ankles. To make the measuring easier, you body landmarks like your belly button or a mole or scar, to guide your tape measure placement. For chest measurement, women can either measure under their armpits and/or under their breasts.

        b. Don't "pull" on the measuring tape because that will give you a false reading (and stretch the tape). The tape should be snug, but not tight.

        c. Don't suck in to make yourself smaller. Again, that will give you a false measurement.

Measuring tapes can be purchased at craft stores (the sewing section) for under $5.00. If you can't find one, you can use a piece of string. Just mark that string with a marker pen to indicate your "start" points". Or if you have an old belt, you can use that too.

Another good "measuring tool" is your clothing. Non-stretchy clothing like a dress shirt, jeans, or dress is the best thing to use. Stretchy fabric (like t-shirts or anything with spandex) will conform to your body as you shrink so you might not see the results. Try on this article of clothing periodically to see how you are losing inches.

Good luck to you on your 14 day Induction journey.

Elsie... Again, thank you. You are a wealth of information, Woman! giggles
At least now I know that not I do have the right book. I do have the one that you posted about. I just didn't follow the guidelines of 2 cups salad veggies and one cup other veggies yesterday. I purposefully ate less veggies yesterday because I was hoping that it might start me losing again if I did. I know I won't be losing anything this week (TOM), so I'm not too worried about it at the moment. Today during lunch I had a steak and made sure to have a salad too. For dinner I'm going to have baked chicken with broccoli and cauliflower. Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to search through some of those Lindas' induction recipes and see what I can't find that might sounds as good as what Bill makes. He and his family must eat like kings and queens. from now on I will try to remember to add more veggies into my diet. Thanks again!

No problem. Cutting out the veggies most likely will not help as it seems that quite a few of the people who stall on extended induction start losing again when they go to the rungs. Sometimes our bodies do need to take a break and we experience these little mini stalls that test our patience. After a bit it all falls back into place again. lunch and dinner sounds great!!! Oh...and by the way....when Bill starts making his rounds to cook for us....I have first dibs....LOL! After all Jackie and I are practically twins...LOL!!!

good evening buddies!!!! today's been kinda dreary and rainy here in SW ohio. i can tell the season's beginning to change. i love fall, so looking forward to the leaves changing and cooler weather also.

bill-i wish i could get the energy to cook that much all the time. i need to do some batch cooking again myself. i actually have some soy flour in my fridge from last time i was on atkins....wonder if it's still good. i really enjoyed making onion rings with it. going to make some chicken wings tomorrow night for the final preseason football game for the cincinnati bengals, so maybe will use some soy flour on them before i fry them up.

holding-your menu you posted threw up a few flags for me as well, however elsie already pointed them out. the meat sticks probably have added sugars and the tortillas most people stay away from totally or alteast until the grains rung on OWL. ya gotta get those veggies in too. elsie gave you some good advice as far as the thread she posted here for you. it pretty much tells you all you need to know about induction.
below is a couple links to stickies from the OWL forum. even if you are not ready to leave induction, you might want to check these out so that you have an idea what the next phase is all about.

tomorrow- good to see ya popping in even if it is just real quick to say hello. hope your day went well.

Elsie-great advice you've given out today. hope that you've had some time to rest and recover from your very busy summer. can't believe it's almost over.

i've gotta get some stuff done before i go to bed, good night all.

                monie

                  Evening all...

Another exciting day at the pharmacy...I worked in another store today because they are low on techs. I almost died..I walked into their pharmacy only to find the pharmacist and the cashier. I was replacing one tech who had to go do jury duty and other one just plain called out--let me tell you..it stunk! I was running around all afternoon and I took a "30 minute lunch break" that actually only lasted about 20 minutes. And then after all that I had to wait for a member of management for 25 minutes to get the travel pay--we get paid for milage, which is always nice I am soooooooo tired..I think I'm going to pass out!

Holdingontohope -- The time my ex-husband and his gf were here was short lived. They spent time with him but were more concerned about hanging out with people they met online. *shrugs* Seeing him again after almost 2 years was a shock--he hadn't really changed. In fact, it looked like they both had put on more weight. I was expecting something odd/strange to happen while they were here but things were tame. I got somewhat of a look from his gf after seeing me in my "skinny" jeans (if you can call them that ..hehe). She would sit in the car and eyeball me...how fun!

Alright everyone...post again tomorrow..I'm going to bed now!

Monie...you know me..always glad to give out my two cents....LOL!!! I can't believe the kids go back to school on Tuesday. Tomorrow will be a week with no visitors...YAH! Starting to get my mojo back and did some house cleaning with the kids and sorted through DD's drawers in her room. Have the meat marinating for tomorrow..so starting to be able to think ahead a bit instead of flying by the seat of my pants...LOL!

I gotta go pick up some soy flour and some almond flour. Had my first taste of eggplant...and it was from our own garden...dipped in egg and then cheese and fried so of course it tasted good. Have 2 more to do something with. Would have liked to try the flours though. Was going to grind some pork rinds but couldn't find the coffee grinder...hoping I didn't sell it in a yardsale...LOL! I want to do up a big batch of Oopsie rolls...maybe tomorrow.

draggin' today! need a transfusion of some type of energy! or maybe just some sleep!

Elsie--Thanks for supplying so much info! so glad all of us bud's can fire off questions and your always there with help!

Monie--Cooking is a family thing..if they want to eat!! we shoot for Sunday's(or if to busy monday or both days) to cook and store for the week--- after we all have sat down and worked out a 7 day menu..a lot is in giant ziplocks--just toss the frozen dinner into the crock--the pressure cooker--or nuke the whole bag..Corinne makes a Giant Basic salad that we each add our own proteins and dressings to--to take for our lunch..
and so on and so forth..

but it's ME! ME! ME! all ME! I need a medal! or maybe a parade! or a song!
                        wait--a statue!
anyone have a spare medal to pin on me!

Holdin--your story is so funny about how you misplaced your book!!
(oh and I know what it's like to have a lot of stuff!!)
but you did leave an opening--and I just gotta take advantage of it!!
in the BOOK( you know, the one you misplaced)--there is a section on stalling--we could have looked it over together if you had the BOOK (the misplaced one)--also in the BOOK(that same misplaced one)--DR A talkes about making sure you don't eat excess quantities of protein, when eaten to excess, protein converts to glucose--which your metabolism will burn or store instead of being a fat burning metabolism--all right there in the
                        (misplaced)BOOK....

seriously tho..the striking thing that leaped at me was the Nitrate and Sodium intake-pork rinds, pepperoni, bacon, meat stix, tortillas and sandwhich meats--some people it doesn't bother a bit--others (like me)
it is a trigger for my horrid migranes(which is probably why it leaps out at me--I have to watch every grain!)--other's it causes retention--other's stall to a crawl--
Dr A wanted us to stay clear of processed foods like this..and he wanted us to know that Nitrate's were a known carcinogen.

do you know your bascal? next week or so, if your still stalled, we can discuss your calorie intake a day.

Good morning everybody! It looks like autumn is comming...Some of the leaves of my trees starts to change colours... I don't know why, I feel a bit sad... I know soon will come the terrible canadian winter with big snows and shoveling until the end of april...
But I'm also thinking of Halloween and my smile is coming back. No, not the candies. But the decorations and the feeling. What are you going to wear this Halloween? Me, I definitely want to be Dracula, the vampire!
