    Hello all earthly beings!
Hope all are getting a chance to get outdoors to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine!

    Fishing trip was great --
did land a couple of Bluefish--but you should have seen the one that got away!!! I think it was a Humpback Whale or Bigger!!

Have some catchin' up to do..and I will return tonight

Right now I have a million things to do..you know how it is...lightning bolts scattered all over the floor--Mt. Olympus is under siege by Hades---Medusa's hair is in knots--Venus is in one of her moods...work, work, work!

hey everyone.....hope all is going well.

sugarsack-wtg on the 21 lbs. isn't this woe wonderful? i also love the fact that i don't feel hungry anymore. i'm also a natural brunette, but been a strawberry blonde for sometime now.

caramella-so sorry to hear you've not been feeling well, hopefully you've figured out the cause.

Holding-you are doing so well, i bet you looked fab in those jeans shorts and tank top. you should definately measure yourself. it really helps if the scales are not moving to know atleast that you are losing inches.

elsie-so company's finally gone....now maybe you can rest a little. i need to clean out my fridge too. maybe i'll do that tomorrow and then head to the grocery to stock up again. i've never tried Daikon, maybe i will experiment with it sometime soon.

bill-glad you have a good time fishin'. sorry you didn't land moby dick, maybe next time. all that talk about greek gods makes me wish they'd bring back xena & hercules back to TV i used to love those shows.

well, we actually managed to be able to sleep in our bed last night....yeah!!! no more sore backs!!! we also went to check out a bike shop today that we'd never been to, they had alot of bikes on clearance, but nothing really caught our eye. it just so happens though that there was a walmart in the area we hadn't been to yet, so we took shot that maybe they had our bikes. well, after finally tracking down a walmart associate, ask them to check the warehouse, and a few mins later they came walking out with a cart and both our bikes still in the box. DH has basically got them assembled now, but still has some minor tweaking to do. hopefully we may get to go for a ride tomorrow sometime and try them out. we are now paitently waiting for chili to finish cooking and our football game to come on. been waiting for what seems like forever for football season to start, and finally getting to watch some games.

Holding...that bum pain is one of the things stopping me as well...and the fact the bike needs some tweaking...and I live on a highway. But the bum pain is the main one....I rather be a pain is the bum than have one....LOL!!!

hey everyone. up kinda late tonight, was ready for bed @ 10:45, but Dh was reading and light was keeping me awake so i ended up getting up. started fooling with some crafts i'm making for christmas gifts and before i knew it, it was 1:30 in the morning. thought i'd get online for a couple mins before i try going back to bed.

a little info about bikes & about the bum pain you were mentioning, i get that too, but as you ride more often it seems to lessen. my DH found this site that has some info on that and possible remedies and/or causes as to why that happens. things like the seat not being adjusted right could be some of the cause. just not being accustomed to riding is another cause. also you can have too much padding on the seat.....etc. the beginners section has alot of info if you all are interested in checking it out, i provided a link below.
            Sheldon Brown-Bicycle Technical Information

oh yeah elsie, before i forget, i did put kidney beans in the chili, but only 1 can for the whole pot of chili, didn't want to overdo it with the beans.

think i'll try to hit the bed now, talk to you all tomorrow sometime.
            good night,

hi everyone... happy sunday mornning... in line for the shower and thouight id get online and say hi !

went for my first walk (in a long time) yesterday with the hubby and the dog- i let the dog wear the leash, she was thrilled! it was good.. not going today busy busy w/ church. but i did mention to the hubby that i would (consider) going with him at 5 am when he normally walks the dog.. (what was i thinking??)
but i really need to get back to doing some sort of excercise.. and walking is the easiest/cheapest to start

its was hot here yesterday (not record breaking but warm enough) and my son and i stopped at 7/11 for a drink.. i got a large crystal light slurpee.. i know i shouldnt but it was so goooood ! nothing i will do every day but once in while.. it was helpful for my thirst and ice cream type frozen craving i get when its hot ...

well off to shower ! Down another pound this morning... you think i'd be happy and really i am however the doom and gloom part of me keeps thinking how many more pounds will i lose before i stop?? before i stall ?? before i get frustrated and want to give up?? ooh the pesimistic side of me is evil !!

              ta ta for now

                Good Morning Buddy's!!

After a loooong day, I popped on the Olympics on TV--Then just as fast popped into LALA land....

                WOW!
love reading all your posts on the pounds and inch's lost!!! You guy's are Melting Away!!

I know some are thinking about moving up the Rungs and trying different foods *(like NUTS!)* try to keep DR A's advice in mind..in the long run your move will be 1. more successful 2. the hard work put in now will greatly be rewarded by the introduction of new and exciting foods. 3. The next time a Atkin's Bud asks "what's your CCLL?" you will know it and use it for the rest of this WOL.

This Post Say's it All: and will really help your first steps!! and any questions and we Buds can work together to get the Answers!

                quote=Elleth Faewen;55175]The OWL Carbohydrate Ladder

As you move from one rung to the next, add carbohydrate foods back into your diet in the order that follows. Adhering to this order tends to minimize blood-sugar surges that could reactivate cravings. You will find that while fat and protein will continue to be the mainstays of your diet, you will eat less of them as you add carbohydrates.

As you choose foods from each rung on the ladder, you should choose most often from foods with a low Atkins Glycemic Ranking, or AGR. Foods with a low AGR will have the least impact on your blood sugar for each rung. The foods listed in each rung of the ladder below are examples of low AGR foods for their rung.

As you hit each rung, you can add up to 5 net carbohydrates from that rung. For each food group you add, you should eat from it no more than three times the first week and monitor your body for changes. You need to give it the entire week as a couple of days may not be enough to know how a food is affecting you. You can eat from daily same food group the second week, and continue to monitor your progress.

You should only skip a rung if you do not plan on eating from it. For example, someone may have dairy allergies, so they may skip the dairy rung #2.

If you do skip a rung, at Atkins Diet Bulletin Board we have found that it is best if you spend the time you normally would have spent for that rung before moving to the next one. This helps to give your body enough time to adjust before giving it the higher AGR foods. For example, if you normally spend three weeks on each rung, and you want to skip alcohol rung#5, then you should spend six weeks at berries rung #4 before proceeding to legumes rung #6. In the same example, if you normally spend two weeks on each rung, then you would only spend four weeks at the berries rung #4 before proceeding to the legumes rung #6.

Your ability to add all the food groups back depends upon your Atkins Carbohydrate Equilibrium, or ACE. For example, someone that does not exercise and has a low ACE would probably not be able to add legumes back during OWL, while someone who is young, works out regularly, and has a high ACE might have no problems climbing to the top.

Once you begin consuming alcohol on rung #5, be sure to count the carbohydrates and monitor your weight loss. Spirits have no carbohydrates, while white wine and red wine have 0.9 and 2.0 carbohydrates respectively. Alcohol will suspend weight loss as you do not burn fat while your body has alcohol to burn. If you find that you are stalled, discontinue your alcohol consumption.

When you get to the last three rungs of the ladder, you are eating foods with the highest AGR. Make sure you do not eat those foods alone. Eat them with foods high in fat and fiber to help minimize their impact on your blood sugar.

With fruits and vegetables, the more color they have, the more nutrition they have. If you have a choice between red grapes and white grapes, choose red. Also, be careful of dried fruit as it concentrates the natural sugar and could potentially make a small piece have as many carbohydrates as the entire fruit.

Monie..what kind of crafts are you doing??

Holding...Get your skates and once the kids go back to school you could do it at a park if there is one near you with a walking path. Also..in my opinion..you really should be moving up to OWL since you are trying stuff that isn't on induction anyway..like nuts. Why not move up and do it legally. once you find your CCLL you can switch food in and out...for instance if your CCLL is 50 and you have climbed the rungs you maybe have beans in your chili that day instead of having nuts. That sort of thing. Didn't know what one you were talking about at Linda's site. There is a link in my sig line for induction recipes that has a great chili recipe in it. JMO...not trying to offend just want you to be successful at this WOE for life so you stand a great chance of keeping it off forever. Hugs!!

Hi everyone! I'm feeling a lot better.

Would you believe that I baked cookies today and didn't even have the urge to try one? The house smelled amazing and there were no cravings at all. I'm quite proud of myself.

I had joined an online baking group thar sends care packages to U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. So I split the batches between the package I'm sending and DH's co-workers.

I just wanted to do a short post and let everyone now that I am still here..and holding strong. The "work out" from helping that other store has proved lasting. I can barely go down stairs and upstairs without feeling pain in my right leg. I have had a lot of leg cramps during the night and sleep is hard to get. It's getting better though..I should be back to normal by Tuesday or Wednesday at this rate.

Holdingontohope--what part of Texas are you at? The weather here in Austin has been weird..raining, sunny and then back to raining. Good for the grass but a damper to any sort of activities outside.

                        Anyhow,
I'm off to eat dinner with DH....burgers from the grill!

I work in Austin though...I've worked in three stores around the Austin area...let's just say, I still feel like the small town New England girl. I'm getting used to seeing how truly "weird Austin" can be. If you live in the Northwest area of Austin then maybe it's a possibility that we've crossed paths. Nice to see local support heheh

Bill...That was so cool to hear about the bike park. Also the 'fake it 'til you make it' Do you ever get annoyed when you hear my voice in your head....LOL??? My wish is that the rest of us take note that you faced head on the 'fit' totally into biking people and didn't let them scare you away and continued on with what you went there to do and it worked out. How many of us let what we think others will think of us dictate where we go or what we do. You are a Zeus in my eyes...LOL! Cool website..added it to my favorites!

Caramella...way to go on the no cravings. It is a great feeling isn't it!

                            Robin....hope you mend fast.

Holding...great news about the chili working out. And YEAH on DH eating it instead of going out...LOL!! I like the comments from Linda's site. The family really enjoyed Sloppy Joe pie from there. I am going to comment one more time about OWL for you and then will leave you alone. As far as the amount of weight you have to lose...no excuse...I started at 241 my goal is 150 and I am only 5 foot so could go skinnier than that but I do want to be realistic for my age and for how long I have carried this weight...and I can always reset my goal if...I mean when I make it there...point being I have a lot to lose too. Bill had 80 pounds to lose and moved on and is doing extremely well also..half way there already. That is just 2 examples from this buddy list. Last time I lost 60 pounds in 7 months climbing the rungs and eating between 1500-1900 calories. So you say you only tried the nuts because you wanted to see what they would do to you. THAT is exactly what climbing the rungs is for...so you can see what foods your body reacts to and learn what you need to avoid to be successful. Since you don't have your book I am wondering if you are aware of the limits to what you can eat..that it is not just anything as long as you don't go over 20 carbs? As far as rung one of OWL...it is just 5 more carbs of acceptable veggies. There are some great stickies in the OWL forum that tell you how to go about rung one and also there is a veggie stickie because you get to add some more variety. It is not a scary place to go and it opens your options a bit on the amount of veggies you can have. Which is a good thing. Okay...I won't talk about it again unless you ask me something specific...I will really try. I just want you to know I am glad you found us here because your laughter and positive attitude shine through in every post you do! Big hugs!

                              Good Morning Bud's!
Hope all have a great day!
very busy today..then leaving to travel to a customer..will try to stay with all of you when I can..just going to be one of "those" weeks

                              on a different note....
I hope no one felt pressure or felt that this WOL would not work if you don't excercise...in the beginning chapters DR A spoke of how well Atkin's went with regular excercise..and how well it married together if you were looking for dramatic results.
in the final chapters of the book under the "calling all couch potatoes" section--- he states the awesome thing's regular excercise will do for you.
Dr A's statement about doing Atkin's and not excercising:
"Doing Atkin's and not Doing excercise is like riding a bike with flat tires"
"it can be done!" "But, it's a lot Harder!"

I truly hope each and everyone of you find your own comfortable level and program that agree's with "you"
                              and alway's remember our main Bud's word's:

"Fake it till you make it"

                              Best Regards
