    LOL!! Good point!

I'm struggling here this morning. Started out with all kinds of piss and vinegar but then the stomach went to he**. (Feeling like it did before the medication was adjusted.) I just took an hour and a half nap and feel a little better. But I'm fighting the urge to help the stomach with saltine crackers.

Eat the saltines so I can work out OR don't eat saltines and not work out...

Sausage and chicken are done, now for the beef jerky...

      This is interesting:

      In DANDR page 16...
      under "whats wrong with carbs"
      4 par down:

He talks about the junk food in the aisles of stores....and says in the last sentence:

..."and junk white breads so repugnant to the metabolism that many forms of rodents - wiser than us - won't even eat them except as a last resort."

Next para 1/2 way through he says:

"For thousands of years, human beings were in luck - none of this food existed.. Now we're stuck with it."

      THAT IS SCARY!!!!!

I guess I never thought of all of that junk food as being "man made" fake food. hmmm......

Wow I can't believe how many pages I've read just to try to catch up....lol!
OK, official starting weight was taken at the doctors yesterday afternoon
at 3pm (fully clothed btw).... I am 159.5. I'm starting this challenge with
a 5 pound weight gain (but, down from the 164 that I weighed at the doctors
        last week).

So, my goal for the challenge is to get into the 149's! 10 pounds would do
that for me! OK, I need to take my measurements.

I will, too, after I get the beef jerky going (if the darn stomach will hang in there long enough...)

              Good afternoon!

I feel like I'm behind...it may take me a minute to check back, but I wanted to post my current stats, I guess we can do that, right? Or should we hold it in until next week? I usually do my stats on Saturday but tomorrows a wild wild day with getting some things done around the house and then attend a wedding in the evening. Correct me if I need to wait.

              Soooooooooooooooooooooo.....

Current weight: 198....1 out of 10 pounds, 9 more to go.
              Inches....2 inches lost this week

apple--geeeeeeeeeez you're losing already, you skinny minny! Awesome! I'll put you down for 1/10 pounds. Overacheiver.

Blazing--That *IS* scary about man-made foods. And that's the part that I don't understand. The human race has survived for countless years eating whole foods. So why is it that people throw a hissy fit when Atkins is brought up? Atkins is nothing more than eating foods in a natural state, eating unprocessed and whole foods.

Certainly the USDA doesn't approve of Atkins. Think of how many states grow and export grain. Montana is the 6th state in the nation for wheat production, I believe. Bread is BIG here. But we can still eat whole grain bread and crackers, so why the big uproar still?

Ahhh it all goes back to money. Those crappy processed snacks and junk food make TONS of money. Think of all facets of a single product--advertising, toy tie-ins, profit margins...everybody everywhere (except the factory workers) are making mad loot off crappy, cheap, bad-for-you food. And it's marketed at the most impressionable and easily-influenced demographic: kids.

Okay, after speed reading through the past few pages I've noticed....

                            Emma---skinny days...now that's a great thing to have!

                            Disco---your siggy picture rocks!

Mr.Self---glad to have 2 guys with the 40something women!

Blazing (michelle)---talk about me being an overachiver...I think you get the button for starting early on the chapters! Nice!

Elsy---you look fab, darling! Onederland is great, ain't it?!

and a round of hugs to all those I skimmed over really fast because of time constraints...man, I'm going to have to either get on the board before dawn or stay up past my bed time to catch up!
