Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

    December 3rd:
I did 15 REAL push ups! YAY! I also drank 64oz or more water. I even tried having some rice with my dinner (haven't had rice in months!) It was just a spoonful but boy was it nice. I slept 9-10 hours but I was getting up alot to go to the bathroom, so my boyfriend didn't wake me when he left. I also got more then enough fiber yesterday, nice whoosh this morning let me know I was on the right track.

    December 4th:
It's still early but I think if I write it down then I have to do it . I did my mid week weighin today and I am down 0.4lbs which i think is fantastic. I say this because when I had my second obstuction I started eating every to get it out of me and it caused my weight to shoot up to 165 in the course of a week. Almost 2 weeks later I am back down to 158 and making progress to break the 158/157 boarder within the next couple of days...it's been a while since that has happened, my body likes 158 for some reason . Anyway, I am going to do 15 more push ups and then jump on the elliptical trainer for 20 minutes while I watch this weeks biggest loser. I already went for a walk this morning to take a urine sample to the vet, poor kitty is still sick and now needs an x-ray to rule out a foreign body in his bladder. I am already 1/4th of the way done with my water and an still thirsty.

    Have a good day everyone!

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Well, having gotten on the scale today after a month of no weighing and seeing NO CHANGE I have decided to reevaluate what I have been doing wrong. Fact is I haven't been too bad. I am still slowly losing inches even if the pounds won't come off, but the further I go up in OWL the lazier I get about counting things before I eat them, and at keeping my veggies up. So since I don't know my gym situation for the month with my traveling, I have decided to get some goals going that will put me back on track. Here they are for December,

                  1) Retrieve my copy of DANDR and reread it when I get home. Twice.
                  2) Make a plan for OWL. Not the individual foods, but a plan for how to follow it more closely without getting lazy.
                  3) Commit to major veggie consumption. I do fine, but I want my carbs to be continuing to come mostly from the veg no matter what rung I am on--I see this as a key to long term success for me.
                  4) Try to maintain my fitness level in December even with the traveling.

So those are my goals. I will check back in with you on the 8th when I get back to the US (unless the hotel in Hong Kong has free wireless)
                  JILL

                  HW 298
                  HW (this time) 248
                  GOAL ONE 228
                  (take 2)
                  GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
                  GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
                  FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

"I've never come home after a workout and said, MAN, I wish I had NOT exercised today!"

You're here. Great plan. that is a lot of exercise. You do not have to do it all in one day. Hang in there. I know those high carb foods talk loadly but they are evil

                    Thanks for reporting guys

                    So my goals were

A: Weight- nah I cannot step on the scale if I don't have time for the ritual. I need the weekend for this. So tomorrow it will happen
B -sliding - not great - but I am working on it. I am really need to work a bit harder.
C:-exercise - yes this one is easier to do. I lifted and did yoga today and some elliptical. And I walked CHECK
D: Taking care - yes I am working on it but some home stuff is making it tough. I think I am partly to blame because I am a bit edgy
E: Cooking-I am thinking about it. Making thai soup tomorrow - that always cheer me up
                    F: Did my vits -CHECK
Two out of six - not too stellar

                      December 5th:
Busy busy day today. Spent the whole day with my boyfriend. We did some food shopping (lots of meat and veggies). We went to the market where I bought some really thick tights for this winter. The sales lady needs a new pitch though. I asked if they had a smaller size then L/XL and she replied "No, you don't need a smaller one, these will fit perfectly!" I then told her I was a M (well M/L on these things) and she was like, "...they fall small...?" Funny. Bought them anyway and they come right up to my breast, can be neatly tucked under my bra...1 minute tummy tuck :P. I tried some whole wheat pasta yesterday (trying to make the dinner seem like more...) and it was really nice, had left overs today while everyone else shoved pizza down there throats...losers. I also bought strawberries, I have been buying melon but I really wanted something new. They are not ripe so they are really sour...love it. I haven't really been counting my carbs. When I do I get so obsessed with it that I tend to over eat. I am just trying to eat when hungry and not when I am not and eat mostly from rungs 1-4 but add some of the other rungs every now and then. I don't really snack anymore either. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and something before bed. I might start tracking once a week just to make sure I am on the right track. Yesterdsay I got another 15 pushups in, 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer, and 96oz water.
Today I didn't count my water but I was drinking Now I am off to eat some yogurt and fiber suppliment, maybe with strawberries, since I didn't have it this morning.

                      Have a good Saturday everyone!

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Yesterday my food was off...I didn't really overeat but nervous and kept "wanting" to eat something....water was fine - a few ounces over 128 for the day, 2 miles on the treadmill very late last night (11:00 p.m.) because I wanted to get it done before midnight so I could count it for the day.

Today has been so much better...food on track! Already have my 2 miles on the treadmill - I've shaved 7 minutes off since the beginning of the week and pretty much stay at 3.3 to 3.5 mpg with an incline of 4% to 8% the majority of time I'm on it. I listened to musc today instead of watching a re-run of Biggest Loser - for variety.

Breakfast was 3 soft boiled eggs with sausage patties. Made a great hash for lunch -- radishes & onion fried (in place of potatoes & onion) with corned beef and a hunk of lettuce w/dressing for lunch! Dinner is going to be meatloaf (no crackers - pork rinds), mock-a-foni and cheese and a salad. I love this WOE!!!

Need to find some alone time today -- other than taking a shower on or on the treadmill!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
                        Carole

I have been great with my water.
Working to get a few more supplements in. (Not feeling good enough to try to choke too many elephant pills down just yet!)
Did some more Tai chi again 25 minutes.

I'm afraid though, I will have to start with a new clean induction. Could only eat canned chicken noodle for days, and a few other off plan things, since I had the flu and still not up to par, still sleeping a lot and weak. Hubby bought what he thought was good for a person with the flu before he went back out of town Monday. This evening will be my first time to the store to stock up.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

                              On track so far.

Am starting to think about what I will bring to various gatherings...unfortunately no one else is as into planning ahead as I am I asked my Mom today what she will be serving for Christmas eve dinner...she has no idea yet. I told her not to plan around our WOE, that I would bring whatever I need to supplement the meal. Christmas is stressful enough for her without her having to work around my WOE. I am perfectly happy to bring what I need & eat somewhat different food from everyone else. I think it is because I am really comfortable with my immediate family - they all know what I am doing and are super supportive! I made Linda's Mexican Spinach & Hamburger Casserole tonight...that is one of my favorites...maybe I'll bring that Christmas eve...

I am bringing broccoli & cheese sauce to my Boxing Day gathering (X-mas on my Dad's side of the family) - there are about 40-50 people at that one every year, so there is always lots to eat (& lots of choices)...so no worries there.

Xmas day - Home except for dinner. Dinner at my in-laws. Will bring something (not sure what yet, have to ask MIL). There will be Turkey & veggies & salad. I'm OK there.

I think I will be skipping our catered-in xmas lunch at the office. Not SURE yet, but we are voting on chinese food, Ukranian food, sandwiches (can't see this winning) and something else - can't remember. If it is sandwiches, I could get away with eating the filling, maybe bring my own salad, otherwise I will bring my own food or skip it altogether. Not really a big deal for me either way. Our boardroom isn't big enough, so it will be on another floor. I won't have to see/smell the food, and most people won't realize that I'm at my desk. I would think that no one would have to ask why I'm not participating...if they haven't noticed that I've lost 80lbs...then I really don't care what they think anyway!

X-mas potluck at my previous workplace (I was transfered to a different dept/building 16 months ago - still have regular contract with old dept & get invites to special occasions). This one is a bit trickier, but can be done. We used to have a lot of people at these events - so a lot of variety in the food. Since quite a few of us have been transfered out, I was surprised last time...there were only one or two things I could eat. My plan: I will bring a variety plate of things I can eat. I'm thinking egg salad in little pepper "boats" (got that idea on these boards & saved it), pepperoni sticks and celery with savory cream cheese. That way I will have a MINIMUM of three things on my plate, plus whatever else I find that is appropriate. I will feel comfortable that way...I'd feel funny if I only ate the one thing that I brought...

My husband's Christmas party - should be OK. Will eat what I can of what is served (sit-down meal at a hotel). Will not be drinking, might do some extra dancing to burn off some calories

I think that just leaves New Year's Eve. That one should actually be relatively easy...we have been going to a Steak place for dinner with my in-laws for the last 10 years. I know I can eat there. Will just have to skip my usual "Upsized" Strawberry Margarita. Maybe will invite everyone back to our place to play on the wii...

So far, so good. I bought a dress for my husband's xmas party (I had NOTHING appropriate that fit!) I will also buy myself one or two tops for other gatherings, something that makes me look as slim as possible

I'm feeling good about my plans, and am totally confident that I can do this. It feels really good to be totally in control of my eating.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

On plan today, got up feeling great. My son (eight years old) and I did Jillian Michaels Shred for the first time.... Great workout, I couldn't keep up with the Jumping Jacks or running as you hit your butt... not sure what's the proper name. I know little by little I'll get there. My son is too cute, he was all over the place. But when it came to pushups, he was on target. I amazed myself too, I manged to do the modified pushups, I have done that sort of exerice... NEVER. I need to keep pushing myself daily.

My eating was right on, I like that I enjoy all the foods in this wol. Took the ketones test and I'm right on target, ketosis. That's a motivator for me. I received a compliment from a office collegue who hasn't seen me in a few weeks... He said I'm shrinking... My smile was huge... Another motivator to keep going in this WOL.
