garden update time..spring has sprung even my husband has noticed my flowers all blooming in the garden!

yesterday I separated my baby garlics and now have a freshly planted bed.I planted artichokes ....I pulled the old collard/kale plants so the reseeded babies have a chance for life....and I cleaned my strawberry bed....all my herbs are starting to flourish and my rosemary is blooming already...it feels so good you guys to see the garden come to life again...

my rosemary will flower? I've never seen either of my bushes flower. I have 2 different varieties of it. i got to check this out.
did you plant garlic seeds? I just stick the old uneatten sprouted cloves from the yr before in the ground each fall and come JUNE havest away. Have you got the kind that gets curly and you can cut the greens to eat? I have the soft neck kind and don't get the curls nor the edible flowers in our growing season. of course unless we get weather in the teens my garlic grows all winter here so that might be why.

we are going to put a waterfall in the garden there is spring behind my husbands shop and it bubbles so we are going to just divert it over around and down the side of our hill into the lower garden so we have a waterfall down the hill to a pond..I am so excited about this...we checked the laws and we can do this legally because it is going to protect the shop foundation to have the water diverted and not disrupted....

that and a nature trail around the perimeter of the yard I am so excited those are the HUGE plans for the yard this summer wish me luck

                          My rosemary died.

John tilled the garden again this weekend and added 10 bags of cow poop! I can't wait to start planting in a couple of weeks!

the rosemary is bursting with blooms and looks beautiful!!! I am harvesting all the fresh tips off the top and they are so amazing in flavor!!!

chives ...good grief if you lived near me guys I would be passing you baggies of chives I have taken tons to work already they are really yummy ones that is for sure!

parsley ..everytime I eat the first bite of fresh parsley I remember why I love it so much

the hyacinths, tullips and dafs are in full bloom so are all the fruit trees..

and I have had to cut the grass twice already!

my poor husbands allergies are also in full bloom

how are you guys doing with the gardening?

On tuesday night I came home and found a flyer from the neighborhood committee. First of all, I didn't know my neighborhood had a committee. Secondly, the committee is sponsoring a neighborhood beautification contest this year because I guess they think our front yards aren't beautiful (dunno...if people don't have flowers, they have shrubs and bushes. if they don't have flowers, shrubs or bushes, they just have grass...)

Anyhow, I'm thinking of doing either a native meadow theme (lots of wild flowers and grasses with a very "meadow" look) or a colonial farm garden look (corn, beans, squash and tobacco).
