    He's doing okay -- but he ate fish breading the other day. I asked him why... he said, "well, I can have 20 carbs." (Grrrr... that Fatkins mentality!) Then today, he told me that he ate (breaded) fried chicken at school. I asked him why he didn't take off the skin, and he said, "because it tastes so good!"

    But, overall, he's more conscience of what he's eating and definitely eating less. So, at least that's a start for him. I wish he'd do it by the book, but at least he's finally doing SOMETHING. Thanks for asking.

    Oh, and he did walk for 3 miles at the track today -- while I tap-danced for the kiddos. So, I was proud of him for that -- and he was pretty pleased, too.

      Good Adena.... i understand about the fatkins thingy... my dh won't exercise, he eats pretty much just dinner (or really small amounts durring the day then loads up at dinner) and he is a freak about going up the rungs. A kidney bean is like the devil according to him! LOL But he will eat malitol sweetened foods any old time. Go figure?


      Just keep encouraging him. My dh has done fatkins twice before I started and he never read the book for himself. Not even once. He relies on me and always has done so, to make his food choices for him. But then when I have lost like 58 lbs on this and he is still stuck at 38-40 lbs he complains..... jeeesh! Read a book and get your butt of the couch and maybe those 40 lbs will turn into 58! He still has about 20 lbs to go to get to his goal, so it has slowed down a bit, but he is still gonna be over his BMI even with 20 more lbs off. who knows what men think

        Glad I'm not alone. Isn't it amazing how much they rely on us for? And how much we simply do without even thinking about it.... Like tonight before we went to the track, Jay asked me if I'd walk with him rather than run. I was slightly miffed at the selfishness of his request, but then felt selfish for thinking that way. Anyway, of course I said yes... but it's funny -- if the tables were turned, I wouldn't even think to ask him that, and he'd be put out if I did!

        Okay, sorry for that husband rant detour...

          No problem.... I myself have the odd rant. Like tonight, I bought a 6 pack of diet A&W root beer for dessert floats with friends on the weekend. And there was one left. i really like the stuff and wanted to have it with my taco salad at dinner. ( a treat not a regular occurance) And I had my dinner plate all served with the root beer beside my meal at the dinner table, he reaches over and opens it takes a huge gulp and say *ah that hit the spot* and shoots me a wink! I just about frikin crapped I was so angry! i didn't show him that It bugged me but i got even with him. i finished the sour cream... his favorite topping on taco salad! LOL (petty I know but all is fair in love and food wars!) LOL

          But these things are ongoing. Like picking up his socks that are rolled up under the coffee table on a regular basis, or the fact that he says he can't hear the baby at night and I am the one to alwyas get up with Max. And the never putting the leftovers away. Don't get me wrong, he does a lot fo stuff and really works hard, it is just the little things that irk me. And the exercise thing would get me too. Like when he assumes I am not busy or that I can put off my bike ride so he can go to home depot. MEN!

            Jay would SO do that to me with the drink!! Are you sure you're not married to my husband? Tall, heavy-set guy, dark hair, funny as h***, sarcastic? And lazy -- except when he's working hard, and then he's going 150 mph, if that makes sense. It's all or nothing with him.

            Funny, on a rare occasion, Jay will do the dishes after dinner (if I ask him to and have good reason for doing so). Or, sometimes he'll do them on his own if I come home late. But, until recently, that never included putting away the left overs. I mean, hello!, that is the PREMISE of after-dinner clean up!

            Okay -- I'm REALLY going to bed now.

                Had another cheat free day! all water down, vitamins taken, fitday done and managed to sneak in some more calories to 1797 for today! % for today: 65/5/28

                      Baarb, look how cute you are! Be careful, this challenge has been known to turn red-heads blonde. Just ask HG. And look at your hour-glass figure. You're already looking great!

                        yesterday and today good so far!
                        calories are better..added in some mock cheesecake...
                        i do need some more veggies though...

                        exercise... today: kickboxing 35 min., 1 mile run, 100 ab lounges.
                        yesterday: 1 mile run, 100 ab lounges.

                        feeling better and better everyday... still no weighing!

                        happy low carbing...

                          Adena - thanks so much! Very kind I look red headed there, but I'm not, much to BF's disappointment I keep planning to abandon mousey and go for red or blonde, but can never decide.

                          CDRAKE1234 - Happy to help I began Atkins on 9th September 2006 a date I won't be forgetting in a hurry as this WOL has made such a difference to all areas of my life. You are progressing really well - glad you're feeling better each day.

                            And hey Adena.... what was that comment about blondes? Ehmmm

                            Just a note about calories...

                            I had a great day calories wise and this is what I ate.

                            Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled, 5 sausage patties dipped in homemade ketchup, coffee with cream and sweetener (720 calories)

                            Lunch: 2 tbsp Renees blue cheese salad dressing, 1 medium sweet red pepper, 4 pepperoni sticks, 2 oz marble cheddar, 2 cups lettuce. (852 calories)

                            Dinner: 1 cup brussels sprouts (MMMM), .5 cups of cauliflower casserole, 3 thin slices of smoked ham with home made sugar free glaze, 202 calories

                            I may have a snack tonight of a LC chocolate fudgesicle. Not sure yet, it depends on if I am feeling snacky later. But if I do it still keeps me in my range.

                            A good way to get all of the calories in a day you require is to eat vegetable casseroles that are high in calories, and eat large breakfasts and lunches. My meals are a bit calorie heavy in the day and seem to be less so in the evenings. This will also help your body burn your stored fat throughout the night.

                            My ratios today are %69/8/23. It may seem a bit high in fat, but totally acceptable. If you go over on any of your ratios you should do that with fat. Protein converts to glucose and can be stored as energy to be burned at a later date when your reserves are low. (meaning you gain weight) My total calories are 1775.



                            Water in, exercise done (10 miles on bike and upper body resistance), supps taken, calories in, fitday done, reporting to board and checking in on you all!!!!

                              I just have to ask - how do you make your homemade ketchup? I had a MASSIVE craving for it the other day.

                                Calories today were 1878 ratios are 55/3/41 Total net carbs for the day are 15. Got 1/2 my water down so far; my vitamins and my c25K, fitday is done too! NO weighing for 4 whole days--I can't believe it!!!
