Welcome Michael! And...congrats again on making goal! Isn't it a wonderful feeling?

Sadie... I think your run sounds awesome. How wonderful to have raised so much! Making it an annual event is a great idea... and next year you'll have company (wheeled!!), which is cool.

Bought new shoes today, for my winter walking. More like light mountain boots than the gym shoes I've been wearing out for the last year or so. Hope they aren't too hard on the ol tootsies as I clamber through ditches and brambles, across the fields and up the steepest hills. Ok...I'll confess: I do stick to lanes where I can, Lol. Gotta get the speed up somewhere!

our temp is finally dropping down in the 70s and the humidity is gone expect for the rain every 2 days so out side stuff is possible again other then just lawn mowing LOL. I'm thinking about starting hiking on the trail in the woods again and giving the cardio treadmilling a rest when the carepreson is sitting with mother on gym days. The sumac is turning red and fall is getting ready to start that is a great trail in the fall to see all the stuff turning and view the mountains too as the leaves fall off. I've been on the treadmill today and have an appointment with the grass again maybe I'll bag it so it doesn't keep feeding itsself every time I mow.

Sadie Glad you had a good time. send me a reminder next yr about sponsoring you again since this will be an annual event .
I'm confused about your run how did you get toi the end if you did 6/7? did you mean you couldn't run the whole way and walked the last 3 km or did you sag wagon it back?

woo hoo Micheal glad you joined us.
welcome back to exercise Jimmie Jo.
Sallyseachange my briother is going to italy on the 29th for a month vacation. any things he should do there that the normal toursit travel stuff will not tell him about? he promised not to bring me any carby foods back LOL nor airline pilot wings like our dad did when we were little as our present from his business trips.

Welcome Michael and congrats on reaching goal! This is a great place to motivate you to exercise, I've learned from my own experience that the exercise is definately still not an option, but mandatory, even in maintanace!

No Jimmie johnnie wont be running next year..i can barely get him to walk around the block LOL. I did talk him into brining a mountain bike home from the cottage so he can ride along with me when i run. he really needs to get some cardio.

2big, no i did about 7k's in total (3.5 out and back)..The route was a bit hillier than I expected, though looking back I wish i'd run out the full 5k and started back, I could have walked partway..for some reason I have it engrained in my head that I HAVE to run the whole way...i should try to get over that. I did find most ppl did the 5k route that were running, and bikers did the 10k. Next year before I do it I will most likely practice run on teh route itself to get used to the hills.

Not sure how much the runs have raised this year..last year it was 36 million. This year is the 25th anniversary of his death it would be nice if it breaks a record.

wow 2big your grass really needs cut quite a lot! we've only had rain recently..most of our summer was dry so our's barely grew!

we were in a drought in June july and Aug I even had to water it in July cause it was crunchy to walk on but then suddenly in Aug rain came down and jsut didn't stop. we had regular rain and then those stupid afternoon popup thunderstorms werre like somebody pained a bullseye on mother yard cause it would be pouring in her yard and 1/2 mile a way nothing. it is supposed to rain again tonight and tomorrow and then be sunny ofr 3 days and rain again just perfect grass growing weather LOL

2big... it really depends rather on where he's going. Italy is enormously varied, the northern regions being totally different from anywhere in the centre or south. There's so much to see and do, wherever.
Food is a knockout, of course. If he gets the chance to eat with an Italian family, rather than a restaurant, that's usually great. Most Italian housewives are really good cooks and you get different stuff from the restaurants. The best experience is to eat with a farming family. All home grown animals and veggies make a difference.
I'll put my thinking cap on and let you know if I come up with something 'generalised' that shouldn't be missed.
                He'll have a ball, I'm sure!

Just got back from the gym..first time in a couple of months! Hopefully I wont be too sore tomorrow. I also did a good run today, I'm trying to pick up my pace a bit, i'm hoping that might boost my weightloss. I may start wearing my HRM again to make sure i'm getting my heart rate up enough. I'm wondering if maybe i'm running to slow.

The gym also means i'll be on the stepper and hopefully finish my Kilamanjaro climb soon!

Boy was I in pain yesterday! my first gym workout on Tues was chest and back..my chest was killing me LOL. I decided to take the day as a rest day.

went back to the gym today and did biceps and triceps and 10 minutes on teh stepper as well as my 30 min run at lunch. trying to work back up to 20 mins on teh stepper but since it's been so long i'm taking my time. Oh and i also did some sets of those 'roman chair' leg lifts.... I had no idea what tat machine was called until 2big told me...though I think it should be the 'torture chair'

At my last gym 2big we had the mountain program on the tread mill too..i made that mistake once..LOL never did it again!

Hey goalies. I haven't posted much recently, been a bit discouraged and bored exercise wise...which is probably exactly when I SHOULD be posting, I know. No excuses, just 24 hours in a day, and my priorities have shifted some. And I still havent been to bed before midnight in weeks.

But guess what snuck up on me this morning?

                              !!! GOAL !!!

Rest of the story in Success Stories. TT you all soon. And I WILL be back in full swing soon here.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????
