It was my long run. I did not think it was a problem to run longer. It was kind of funny though because I was at the campground and ran some trails so sometimes I had to slow down and climb over trees on the trails or things like that. It was a nice change from the usual route and boy it smells so nice in the real forest. So back to the shorter ones this week. This works so well - I do not have time for long runs in the workweek but weekends I can give a little bit more.

I love your new ticker Quo. I will be cheering for you all the way.

I like your plan Mitzi. I think I need to work on speed too but I'll do the distance first. Right now I am quite comfortable wogging away. Maybe there is such a thing as too comfortable.

I am not getting any faster. Oh well. My 5K speed is about 50 minutes even on a good day.

Sometimes I feel sluggish - it is like I think I can go faster but my body is holding me back. I am going to go with my body on this one (for now).

D2, W9, C25K - Hadn't run since last Thursday, so I had 2 different thoughts going... first, I was scared because I hadn't run in so long. Second, I wasn't scared because it has been my experience on the few occasions that I have had so many days between runs, I have actually felt really good and did well. And today didn't disappoint. I felt really good, and completed the 3 miles in 33 minutes, 28 seconds. Woot! Only one more session, and I will have the claim to fame that I completed C25K.

Liv, I am very sure that if you were running on an airconditioned, indoor track like I am, that your times would be much faster. You're smart not to sweat the time, because your course and conditions are much more difficult than mine are.

Quo, I am just putting together a routine on my own for now, using some dumbbells at home. I see that both you and Liv are posting in Jill's (chinadoll) strength training thread, so we will be seeing each other over there now, too.

          So Mitzi
          Was today the BIG day???

Quo did you do one of those longer runs yet?

          OHR D2W5
According to the plan I was supposed to do a slightly longer run today but I didn't. As long a summer school is going on I cannot find time enough for longer runs on weekdays. I have to do my longer run the weekend and add it all there. I know I can run for a quite awhile so that is not going to be a problem. The run today went fine.

I find myself drifting off when I run. I think about the plans for the day and other daydreaming activity. In the beginning I had to concentrate on every step. Now it has become a lot like walking (which is my favourite thinking exercise).

I have a feeling that if I am going to be faster I have to get back to think hard on the activity itself. But for now I am not going to worry about that. This is just too much fun.

            Yes, indeed!

I can officially claim completion of the C25K program. Today was excellent - finished in 33 minutes, 36 seconds. I am really quite proud.

I also powerwalked for 3 miles, after running the 3 miles. The running has really made me strong when powerwalking... I walk around that track like I have a motor on my butt.

Hmmm... I can't say that I am to the point yet where I drift off when running. That might be because I am so focused on keeping track of the number of laps I have completed. When I run in the neighborhood, I don't have to keep track of anything except my start and finish time. I am able to map out courses before I leave, so the distance is already measured. At the track, 7 laps = 1 mile, so I concentrate on keeping that straight.

Liv, I want a completion graphic like yours! Can you help me get one?

I am so happy for you Mitzie!

Liv, I love drifting off. I have to tell you my guilty pleasure. I have daydreams about running a marathon or trail running going through the badwater death valley ultra marathon *giggles* By the time the run is over, I feel like a little kid.

OHR D2W5: I managed to get my run in this evening. A smooth 32 minutes but my joints hurt from my TOM and I just don't have any energy or motivation. Sometimes I really wish I was a dude *grumbles*

You're welcome Mitzi. Glad you could use it.

I know that I have developed a special relationship to my shoes (Is that a bit weird, or what? ) So my icon has my shoes in it.

                    OHR D3W5
I really ran for quite a bit today. Decided to try to run along the riverbottom here - which has some of my favourite trails - so I went for a looong loop. I walked part of it. I really felt this run. But it is nice that I can do it. This was one of my main goals. Just to be able to strap on my shoes and run this nice path.
I will take a couple of days off now. And the next two runs will not be any longer than usual (time issue).
So that was halfway through the OHR

Last nights D3W5 run went excellent and I'm about to repeat it as soon as I finish this post. The other day, I was reading on runnersworld about progression runs to help you finish stronger and begin speed training in a more gentle way. I was running along slow as usual and thinking, I'm not really pushing at all. So I sped up for the last quarter mile and felt amazing. I felt so much stronger just changing up the constant rhythm and was surprised I had it in me. It was also the first time I did 3 miles (I went a little over)! Maybe a few weeks of that and I'll get a little further away from that shuffle.

PS: thanks for keeping me motivated. The last two weeks have been tough and I've missed all kinds of work outs but, I haven't missed run. (((hugs)))

Just checking in... haven't run since last Thursday. Just been too fricking hot and humid to do it outdoors, and it's been too hectic to drive to the track. I get off work at noon tomorrow, so I plan on going to the track then. I must!

I'm so proud of you both for being halfway through OHR! Woo hoo! Well done!

I can't believe we are halfway there. It's really hot here as well but not as humid as Florida or LA. I can't imagine running in that mess.; I'm addicted though so I probably would

I ran my 30 minutes yesterday and it felt so easy that I got a phone call on my run and actually answered before my phone cut out. I to the track and my ankle wasn't feeling lose to ran on the track a bit and it felt much better after a couple laps. Then a adolescent buck with a new rack and several doe decided to stand by the track and just stare at me. I got a little nervous (those antlers looked big) and it was pict black with no cell reception so I ran off the track and back to the street for the rest of my run. I can't believe by next month I'll be running and hour but on the other hand I can believe it because I feel like I could do it now but want the time to strengthen my ankles. "I have the poooooower!!!!!"

Great to hear about your run Quo. I can really feel that enthusiasm of yours - it is quite catchy! Maybe those deers where just philosophizing about the folly of mankind.

Mitzi. - hugs to you - I hope you had time to run or something that you felt good about. One of the things that running does for me is that I feel accomplished and the rest of my day goes so much better because of that. (I don't get bitchy with any of my students - and that is a plus). But teaching summer school now has also meant I do not have so much time for exercise and I get a bit bummed out about that. I keep telling myself that life has to come first - AND I am into exercising for the long haul so even if I don't get all the stuff done every week, there will be more weeks down the line.

I think if it was not for this thread I would go on and onto my DH and DD about miles and kilometers and routes and sore legs and what not and they would probably have gone crazy by now. But I need to get this enthusiasm out somewhere. Thanks guys for being here. You rock!!

Back to normal loop today. I think that long run and the two days of made a difference. It was like my stride was a tad longer today. I also started to do squats with weights - and although I feel sore after it may help with some running power down the line.

                              Hi, Liv and Quo

Ack! I still haven't run yet... I did get some upper body strength training in yesterday, and had plans to run today, but didn't fit it in. I hate when I get out of my routine.

I did order a new toy for my running, that I can't wait to use. Remember how I was saying that I had to concentrate so hard on keeping track of the number of laps at the track, that I really couldn't think of anything else? At amazon.com I found a little counter that I can hold in my hand and tick off the laps. I'm so excited! It will delivered on Friday.

Liv, I am on cloud 9 on the days that I am able to start off with a run. It feels great! I am definitely a morning exerciser, when I can make myself get up early enough.

Quo ~ she's got the power! Yeah, baby!!

Don't know how long I was supposed to run - again I just did my normal loop. I will do my long run this weekend.
Everything went well. I am getting better at getting up super early and getting out of the house quicker so I do not waste any time dragging my legs. My mornings are hectic enough as it is.

I will probably be running on an inside track when winter hits so that gadget sounds cool Mitzi. I know when I was at the track earlier in the spring I gave up on counting loops because it confused me too quickly. So you hold it in your hand?

I think I really want one of those heart monitors. Not sure that I need it but I think it would be kind of cool and perhaps even useful to measure effort like that.
