I've been doing so-so with the supps. I missed a couple days and I forgot to take my evening doses for the past week!!!

Anyone know anything about Kava Kava? I just started taking a different brand and I've noticed a few minor heart palpatations. Might not be related, but I was wondering. Today I got dizzy for a brief second too. Could also be realted to the antidepressants I'm taking, but I haven't noticed those side effects with them before.

Cynthia, I'm not aware of heart palpatiations being a side-effect of kava, but people can respond differently to medications and supplements, especially when they are already on medications. However, dizziness is one of several potential side-effects of kava. Have you noticed if your new brand of kava has other ingredients besides kava kava or at a higher dosage than your previous brand? Just curious.

Jimmie, sorry I did not see your question earlier. Lots of different things can cause curling fingernails, but the only vitamin deficiency that I can think of that would cause that is severe iron deficiency. There would, of course, be other symptoms, and I can't imagine Jack lacking iron on Atkins.

Are his nails also brittle, weak, or have any deep grooves in them? He may benefit from additional Bs such as biotin and also glucosamine/chondrotin. Whatever he decides to do for treatment, even if it is just doing nothing, he will have to wait for his new nails to grow in. Keep us informed.

                    brittle yes
                    cracking yes
i suppose that would make them weak, too. yes

i've got him on the b's and he is on the glu/chon stuff and also his daily vitamin. biotin helped me out so maybe i'll supplement his daily pill popping with that.

                    thanks for answering!

This biotin works wonders. My hair is growing SOOOO quickly! I swear it's grown at least an inch since I got it cut.

                        Hi all
I want to start taking supplements but I don't know where to start just yet. I've never taken multivitamins or anything really, so am not too "up" on it. (am planning on doing a lot of reading here this weekend). At any rate, I am having problems with short-term memory, which I suspect is mostly due to my age (44), but I'm wondering if any of you know of any supplements that may make a difference? I have heard of Ginko something or other, but am not sure if it makes a difference or not. Would love to hear your opinions.

Bio - I had assumed my old Kava was stronger since it was liquid, but the new stuff is stronger. Thanks.

                            Ginko Biloba
if that's spelled right, has the reputation for helping your memory, mg, but bio could speak to that more fully, i am sure.

welcome to our vitamin world, btw.

i'm out of B's so i'll have to get myself to the dollar general for a new supply. i've been on track with my multivitamin. dang it, since this move, it's gotten hard to remember jack's though. i had a good place for laying them out before and i have yet to find the perfect spot here.
