    Hi Don,

With the 3 multivitamins that you take each day, do the 3 tablets total equal the amounts listed on the bottle or is that per tablet? If it's the latter, you're taking too much of certain vitamins.

As far as the ingredients go, the only one that I saw listed that you may not want is iron.

If your goal is to optimize your health, you shouldn't need to take additional supplements to what you're already taking. If, however, that is not the case, then it depends on what you're try to overcome.

Also, with some of your supplements, you'll want to spread out your supplements throughout the day or take them morning/night instead of all in the morning. That's how I read your post regarding feeling like a "walking drugstore in the mornings."

We're going to Seattle on May 11-14. Because of flying and having to take all of the supplement bottles, I'm willing to not take them for 4 days but DH is adamant. Therefore, I will be shipping supplements to the hotel for our arrival so DH doesn't freak out all weekend!

I've been taking my supplements, just not checking in here.

Silly -- I never even gave a thought about taking my supplements along for my vacation that is coming up. Oh dear me!! How could I have forgotten about this? Thanks for the reminder.

What I have done when travelling is counted out the amount I would need each day, and i put the pills in one bottle (an empty one) or ziplock bag. though i'm leary of the ziplock as i'm usually crossing the US border and I think a baggie full of pills could certainly cause me some issues LOL.

I always make sure i put them in my suitcase and not my carryon as well.

Thanks Bio! I appreciate your response.

The multivitamin counts are per tablet. How many should I take?

Can you tell me what the issue is with taking iron?

I am taking all the supplements in the morning. How do you suggest that I spread them out?

Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

              Thanks Again!

                Don,

I would just take one of the multivitamin tablets b/c of the amount of Vit A that's in it. You can get too much of a good thing.

With your other supplements, such as glucosamine and flax oil, I would take one capsule in the morning, then at night. You can even take one at lunch for a total of 3x/day.

Here's a post I wrote awhile back on iron. Let me know if you want further info. I'm currently writing up an article about iron for next week's posting.

                http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...13&postcount=9

I don't know which glucosamine product you're taking, but the type that's been used in clinical research is glucosamine sulfate, not glucosamine HCl. The findings are very promising, and I'll post more about it in some weeks to come.

If you wish to add to your collection of supplements, I'm a huge fan of the B vitamins. Your multi gives you a nice base, but a good B-complex supplement is a welcomed addition to any good health regimen.

i thought i had postted here today.
got mine in and jacks is on the counter.

asking this of the rest of you: do your spouses, bf, gf or so take vitamins too? are they on the same things you are?
i'm wondering if jack should be taking a vitamin supplement for men over 50.

                    Thanks again!

I think I need to switch to a different multivitamin. One without iron. I am on rung 1 of OWL and even though I do not eat very much cheese and drink tons of water and have been very careful to eat all my veggies (usually 17-18 net carbs per day), I have been constipated. Usually I have an Atkins shake before working out, which tends to make me regular, but even that hasn't helped. Somebody suggested that it might be that I am getting too much iron from supplements. Could that be the culprit?

I will follow your advice and split up all the other supplements throughout the day.

Hey all, oh my gosh I forgot my vitamins this morning and I was a walking zombie! YIKES, that'll teach me to forget my pills, even if I *do* end up looking like a junkie. I'm back on track now, thankfully.

I stayed on track all weekend though, that's a plus!

Jimmie, my DH does take supplements, most of which are the same as mine, but we also take different ones as well. He takes a B-complex twice a day, while I take individual B vitamins separately & at much higher doses. My regimen is geared toward asthma, cardiovascular disease, and arthritis. His supplements are for cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and memory.

Don, when you're looking for a new supplement, please look for one without sugar and other unwanted & unnecessary fillers (starch, sugar, salt, etc). There are plenty on the market without them, but make sure you read the label.

Constipation is a common side effect from taking iron supplements. It's another good reason not to take it. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and that the carbs (veggies) you're choosing to eat are also high in fiber.

                            I'm on track for today!

My boyfriend doesn't take supplements regularly, only when he's feeling under the weather or worried about getting sick. He's HORRIBLE at remembering to take anything...I guess I could leave them out for him like Jo does for Jack, but our counter is pretty messy and I think they'd get lost in the shuffle.
