We love stuffed green peppers, too, but I haven't tried hers yet. Will have plenty from my garden this year, I hope!

I can't stay at Linda's too long. If I just browse, I get hungry and want to eat everything there! So I just pop in when I need some ideas for a specific ingredient.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with that problem! I make sure I have a little plate of things to snack on while I'm on her site....radishes, celery, something with few carbs in them -- that way I can stay long enough to get some good ideas...LOL!!!!

hubby and I have a special mexican restaurant we love to go to -- I always ordered Polo Loco (which is a grilled chicken breast with grilled mushrooms, onion & green peppers on top and 6 small shrimp - then smothered in cheese....I swear this is so close to that recipe I don't miss the mexican restaurant anymore!!

I'm on day 2 of re-induction. Hoping to get my weight loss back on track again.

                Good luck, Carole.

I had gotten into the "what all can I legally eat today?" mindset. Going back on induction is helping me get back to a more disciplined approach.

                I needed that!

                  Re: Another 50+ member

Hopefully I'll be able to get the East side of the house raked and bagged this morning before the rain starts. I'll get ahold of Charlie this afternoon or tomorrow since we're having our taxes done next Monday I'll have the money to pay for the landscaping. Hope it's not too expensive! I have $350.00 saved for a nice tree for the back yard because the 1 and only tree we have out there in the corner only shades the neighbor's yard not ours.

About half the beans I planted have sprouted in their little "greenhouse" thingie -- I planted cauliflower, green & wax beans, zucchini and cucumbers. If they sprout and live in the ground great - I only paid .10 per packet of seed so I'm not out a bunch of money. If they don't sprout I'll buy plants at the nursery. I also have white onion sets so we can have lots of green onions again this year. I'm not going to plant radishes - I can buy them too cheaply! We're going to have 6 - 8 tomato plants so we have enough to go a little canning again. I hope I'm able to eat tomatoes by the time they are ripe.

Need to get off the computer and get started on the day

                    Hi, Carole,

All my little salad veggie seeds are up. I get such delight out of watching those fragile, delicate little sprouts coming up out of the ground. It really is a miracle.

I am going to plant some perenniel seeds today... purple coneflower and coreopsis. I have a bed almost ready for them and it will be nice to know they will come back year after year on their own.

I also have 50 gladiolus bulbs to plant. They should have been planted before, but I think they will still be okay.

I love them because the make such incredibly long lasting cut flowers.

I enjoy reading about your gardening exploits!

Sunny -- I was so excited to see sprouts this morning because I only put them in the greenhouse thingie 3 days ago! So far the only thing that hasn't sprouted is the wax beans - but they take a little longer.

I have 2 packets of wildflowers from one of the floats at the St Pats parade ... I have a corner that needs something growing, so I think we'll take them out and spread them to see what happens.

We've only had this home 2 years, we rented for 4 years when we moved to the St Louis area so I haven't had much time to go anything here. Last summer was a blur with mom being in the hospital then moving here, selling her home, moving her furniture....I mowed the lawn, we painted the trim (from black to chocolate brown) but that was about it. I did get winterizer on the lawn before winter hit so I wanted to make sure I get started this year the right way. I just want a lawn to be proud of and with a little help from Charlie (my neighbor who's starting a small landscaping business) I'm hoping to get the landscaping done the way I envision it. The first summer we were here I had to take half the bushes out because they were planted too close and the ones dying had to be weeded out. I have allergies so even though my body doesn't respond well to being outdoors, I love being outside.

Can't wait to hear more about your gardens

Day 4 -- doing real well. I found something new that is truly great tasting -- fried radishes. I read somewhere where they tasted like fried potatoes, but being the skepic that I am I didn't believe it....I fried 5 radishes in butter with 1/2 oz onion - they honestly tasted like fried potatoes! It was amazing. Next time I'll fix more than 5 because they really shrunk up and it was more like an appetizer than a side dish...LOL!

I would have liked to have done more exercise today, but woke up with a migrane and had a hard time functioning all morning. I laid down for 2 hours and when I got up was better, but still not up to par for the day. I managed to clean half the garage and get the sacks of leaves & recycle bin out to the street.

Carole, I bet your place is going to look like a magazine photo soon! I like the idea of wildflowers in the corner.

I saw the recipe for the fried radish "potatoes" but also couldn't imagine they would really taste like potatoes.

I bought some radishes today, so tomorrow I will try them. Thanks for the review.

I hope you like fried radishes as much as I did. Just cook them slowly until they are brown then turn the heat up for a couple minutes to make them crunchy. I added a little onion and I don't know if the smell of fried onion made the radishes taste more like potatoes than they normally would of or if it was my imagination. Cut the radishes thicker than you would for topping your salad, I think that was one reason mine shrivelled up so much - too thin.....

I'm going to make them again with whatever we have for dinner. The look like red potatoes with the skins on.

                              Re: Another 50+ member

Today I cleaned the garage...it's amazing what winter does to your garage! I want to get some brackets so I can put shelves up along the walls and I really need a peg board to keep track of things above my little table (my makeshift work bench). It took so long to get it done, but it really looks nice now. I went through 3 baskets with absolute crap in them...I'm down to 1 (the smallest) with stuff in .... the other 2 baskets can come back in the house (or in the trash if we don't need them). I'm hoping to get Greg to help me bring the table & chairs for the patio out of the basement and get them outside tomorrow.

The lawn looks so nice since it's all raked, fertilized and we had a good rain. The seedlings I planted indoors are mostly up and looking good. I have to move 2 cucumbers because they were taller than the lid on the planting bed. I got 2 vases and put one over each seedling to keep them covered. They are growing so fast!
Charlie is fishing for the weekend so I won't be able to talk to him until Monday. Monday night we have our taxes done, so I'll know just how much landscaping we can do this year by the amount we get back.

I'm off to bed -- too tired to sit here and type any longer
