Hi Grrls....I live in Sunny Perth...I think we have more flying insects than anywhere else in the world...so I started walking the puppy at 6am before it gets too hot...but that didnt work the flies were trying to get into my mouth my ears and my eyes! So now we're walking in the early evening...lol flies aren't so bad but then the mosquitos come out and start biting...I might have to invest in some insect repelant!

I should tell you a little about me...I work part time as an art/craft teacher in a maximumm security women's prison....its challenging

I have two kids one grrl 28 and a son 26 thats very disabled...autistic..mild ataxic cerebral palsy and legally blind...but he is a dream

Trying at this point in my life to find a balance between work/play/responsibility/creating....not doing too badly lol

Hi d33na -- glad you joined us! The only reason I've been cleaning so much lately (well there are a few reasons) -

      1) I have new found energy thanks to induction and needed to do something to help use it up.

      2) In the Spring when I should have been doing this, mom was sick every other week so other than doing superficial cleaning (so I wasn't making too much noise) I didn't do anything.

      3) I was tired of hearing the constant comments about how I'm not as "clean" as I should be.....give me a break!

      4) Because I needed to do something to keep from opening my mouth and making the situation worse than it needed to be!

Anyway, I have 2 closets, the shelves in the garage and the car to finish & it's all done. Yesterday I dusted, vacuumed and picked up everything that was out of place so it's clean again.

We got the turkey a couple days ago for Thanksgiving so now all we need is a loaf of bread (for their dressing) and 2 or 3 turnips for my mashed turnips (in place of mashed potatoes) and we have the entire meal in the house. I've checked all the spices to make sure we have everything - so no surprises Thanksgiving morning!

The sun is out, it's not too bad temp wise so it's going to be a wonderful day!! Hope y'all enjoy your weekend.
      Carole

Hi everyone, what a beautiful day today! We worked outside most of the day, hubbie was mulching the rest of the leaves with the mower, I was cleaning up the magnolia leaves and maple keys off the pool deck. Got 2 huge clear plastic bags of leaves, the magnolia always loses its leaves last. Also refilled the bird feeders, and after our lunch of whooshie pie, we cleaned out the eaves troughs of leaves. Tomorrow, we're going to wash windows on the outside, and put up Christmas lights. I want to do the lights before the snow comes. This weather is just wonderful for doing that. Oh, we also made a trip to the dump to get rid of stuff that can be recycled. I'm figuring since we're not that hungry, we'll have a light salad or maybe just a shake for supper. We ate lunch really late, about 1:30 or later.

I keep forgetting that you haven't had Thanksgiving yet Carole. Will you make any kind of dessert? Perhaps something with pumpkin, or a flax cookie with whipping cream? Your dinner sounds like it will be great! I'm so glad you're feeling better too
        Have a good Sunday

I'm having pumpkin desert Fancy -- with whipped cream. I never liked pie crust to begin with so I'm not feeling "deprived" by not being able to have "pie" -- I'm just having crustless pie!

Sounds like you and your hubby were busy today. I'd like to get our Christmas decorations up while the weather is still good but we'll see if it happens or not. I remember as a kid my dad was always out in a snow storm with 40mph winds putting the lights up.....still makes me smile to think about it!

Just finished all my exercises for the day -- had a flax cookie after dinner because I'm on day 13 of induction and have made it cleanly through once again. Monday morning I'm moving to OWL Rung 1 and adding more veggies -- it's my favorite rung! I swear I could hop up there and stay forever, but I want to have some cottage cheese again, maybe by the end of the month. I never liked cottage cheese before Atkins....I would eat it but I didn't like it! Now it's a favorite food and I've really missed having it these past few weeks.

          Have a great weekend.

Good for you Carole! A great Induction!

We haven`t progressed past OWL Rung 4, oh, except for using winter squash occassionally, which is a Rung 8 vegie . I certainly don't miss the grains or starchy vegetables. We don't even use the berries except once in a while. I put blueberries and plain yogurt in our lunches and use nuts as well, but only 2 or 3 times a week. It's funny how eating lots of cheese has tapered off, altho' I will eat a cheese stick or salmon cream cheese on celery, if I'm looking for a snack. The yogurt is 6% butter fat with no sugar or sweetener added. I'll sweeten it with a little Da Vinci syrup (a capful), but my DH loves it plain, as does our son.

I think I really need to add more exercise tho'. But I haven't been able to find women's runners in my size. There's one store in Walkerton I'll try tomorrow after I drop my hubbie at work. I keep forgetting they carry shoes!

Well, better get outside, have a great week Carole.

Guess what...it's STILL raining....I have come to the conclusion it's never going to end. I took the hubs to the doctor this morning and couldn't believe the amount of water that is standing all over. At least it's not "white percipitation"!!!!!

                  Hi all, I'm back!

WE are getting the rain today!

Hubby just came in from bear hunting to get someone to help him carry the one he got out of the woods. Bear meat, when cooked the right way, is delicious! It looks like beef but tastes like pork and we love it.

I'm back on induction starting yesterday because I've gone back to my old habit of snacking all day again but it stops now. I will NOT gain back what I've lost, so wish me luck although it's not luck I need, it's determination!.

I'm still having major back problems and I think that's what is making me want to snack. There are too many things I can't do at the moment and one of them is hard exercise so that's making it hard to maintain too. But I will overcome!

                  Have a great day!

Good morning Nyna! I'm sad to hear about your back. Nothing worse in my book Are you able to do any abdominal exercises? I've found that if I don't do them, I pay for it with my back going out on me, resulting in having to walk slightly bent over, specially after standing up from sitting. So, I'm faithfully doing my exercises every day. I do hope your back "heals up" quickly, at least to the point you can carry on. I've also found that some yoga postures help, like a low Cobra pose alternating with lying flat on my stomach, completely relaxed. It realigns my spine or something. Anyway, you know how your back feels...you will know what hurts and what doesn't. Keep us posted on things, heh, and enjoy the bear meat, sounds yummy

Hi Nyna -- welcome back!!! I spent a couple weeks back on induction to get myself back on track again......I had been out of keotsis for so long that it took longer to get back in. Once I did get started again I needed to stick with it so I got back in the habit of eating correctly again.

It's been a beautiful weekend -- sunny, no rain, just beautiful! We're putting up Christmas lights tomorrow - just about all the neighbors have theirs up already because of the good days we've had - and hubby is on vacation this week so we'll get it done.

Hope y'all have a great week ahead!! It's almost Turkey Day!!

Christmas lights I don't even think about Christmas [or try not to] - until after the 1st. I do love Thanksgiving, so well into planning for that. Had a chat with both kids this weekend about what to expect...I asked each one 'how important is pie crust to you?'...funny conversations. Completely enjoyable weekend.

Good morning all . It's another grey day out there. I got up at my normal time today, thank goodness, so I was able to use the treadmill this morning. I like to do my walking first then do my yoga, crunches and stair pushups. Now I just have to make our work lunches, have breakie, take my DH to work, walk the dog and get ready for work myself for 11. I did get the rest of the Christmas lights up yesterday after I was done work at 2:15. All I have to do is plug the cords into the timers on Friday morning, then they'll be on when we get home from work. We'll probably walk downtown (if DH is feeling well enough) to join the festivities and watch the parade. It's called Hanging of the Green, happens every year, and is a night parade complete with horses, wagons, bands, floats, farm tractors and Santa of course, all lit up with Christmas lights. This time last year, we had snow. This year it may be rain (hope not). But there are always lots of people/kids buying popcorn, sausages, fudge and drinking hot apple cider (free) while they visit with friends and family on the street or browse the shops. I love it Our daughter lives on the main street, so we will likely stop there to visit. Anyway, that's not till Friday, and there's the rest of the week to get through. A lot of you folks have Thanksgiving to get through, yet. Enjoy your family, put some good tunes on, and have a great old time. That's what holidays are for, right?

                            See you next time Suzanne

I do like Thanksgiving, I have a good menu planned, but still need to get to the store. We're not having our meal until Friday, so my son can spend the day with his gf's family on Thursday. Just really looking forward to the long weekend and spending time with my kids and hubby!

Tomorrow's Thanksgiving but it doesn't seem like it without any snow at all but it's still one of my favorite times of year! It's going to be nice anyway, snow or not, because the turkey is thawing and everything else is falling into place.

I'm going to make a regular pumpkin pie for everyone else but custard for myself, with SweetnLow and cream instead of sugar and canned milk.

I'm also going to try to make myself a little bit of stuffing using a Muffin in a Minute instead of bread. Everything else in stuffing is allowed, onions, celery, eggs, butter, salt, pepper, and sage. I love the muffin so I don't think it will be too bad.
