Holly-Nicole: The work out routine sounds great, just be careful to pay close attention to your body. If your feeling tired then take a brake. You don't want to get hurt, then you'll be taken out of commision until you feel better.

Ok, as for me I went to a meeting this morning and spoke about my nervousness, I really needed to do that, and I came to a realization: I don't need to know how every detail of every day is going to work out, I just have to take it one day at a time and plan accordingly. Jeez, you'ld think I know that, oh well. As for excercise tonite I am heading out to a get together for a friends birthday. About 2 hours of dancing is involved so and I will be doing absolutly NO drinking. I am going to borrow a page from my friend Cesar, everytime he goes out with us he has a bottle of water in his hands and he doesn't put it down for NOTHING. That's what I'll be doing tonite, there is no way I'm going to spoil my ketosis, I'm doing so good right now. And I want to have an awesome weigh in on the 6th.

eek, I was eating a salad earlier today and half way through it I realized there were small crunchy noodle type things in it. They weren't very big but I hope that doesn't screw me up, I didn't even mean or want to eat them!!

This is getting to be much more of a challenge than I'd anticipated and I'm almost sure I will not reach my goal by Christmas. We just spent three days in a hotel and will be spending the next 9 weekends in hotels as ds plays baseball for a showcase team. In order to not go completely broke I filled the cooler with things the family likes that can survive in a mini fridge and be reheated in a microwave, or didn't need refrigeration at all. We cannot afford to eat out. So for three days, while they ate sandwiches, mac and cheese, cornbread, brownies, etc, I ate egg salad (which froze in the frig and became soupy when thawed) and no-carb hot dogs. It was awful. One night I made them a taco salad and ended up eating it as I couldn't stand another hot dog. I used half the dressing and less than half of the chips - picked as much out of mine as I could - but I know there were still mega-carbs in there. And when we spent the entire day at the ball field I ate mixed nuts. Lots of carbs there too. And there's no way I can get in all the water when I can't count on bathrooms being available.

I guess I'm grateful that my weight stayed the same. I can handle no loss better than a gain. But staying at the same weight until the end of October is NOT what I WANT! Please, if you have any suggestions for what I can bring that will keep me on plan without going crazy I'd greatly appreciate it. All I can think of right now is grilling lots of burgers to reheat in the microwave with cheese on them. I'll be locked into eating only when I get up in the morning and before I go to bed at night. I'm about to just give in and eat macaroni and cheese.

        HELP!

Yankee step away from the mac and cheese, it is poison. I am a student and I have to deal with this issue every semester. So I can relate and have some experience. If your taking a cooler and you have a mini fridge then you actually DO have a lot of options.

You already came up with the hamburger pattie idea, go to your local McDonald's and get a whole bunch of Mayo packs to take with you. That way you get some good fat in there too.

Pan fry or grill some chicken breast with whatever seasonings you enjoy, cut it into slices and pack them in baggies. Then you can take several little baggies and heat up when hungry.

Buy those bags of salad that already come made up, just be careful to check for the right ingredients and take your own dressing. They are kind of pricey but if your only going to use them on the weekends then I consider it a good investment.

How about cans of Tuna, if the hotel room doesn't already have a can openner you can probably get one from room service or take one yourself.

Bacon strips that you cooked before in little baggies.

Cut up celery in a baggie, just before you eat it sit the sticks in a little water so they get nice and krispy again.

You can also cook up a lot of food the night before you guys have to go and pack up individual meals in tupperware that way you just pop it in the microwave and eat.

I can't think of any more right now, but if I do I'll come back and post some more.

I'm not saying it is going to be easy, in fact I know it is not, but you can do this. It will take a lot of planning and a lot of dedication. You're doing so great and I would hate for you to put your weight loss goals on hold for something else. In the end loving yourself is never easy but it is definatly worth it.

          Good luck.

Thank you thank you thank you! I'm just at a point where I can't think and someone spelling out a plan for me will keep me in line. Hadn't thought of tuna and I don't know why because I brought a can opener and big cans of spaghettios for carb-loading athlete. I'll be re-reading your post later on with pad and pen in hand making out a menu and a shopping list.

Thanks again. I appreciate your help more than you know.

Went on campus today to straiten out some final details before class tomorrow and while I was there I decided to make use of their awesome workout facility.

I did 35 minutes on the EFX Crosstrainer on a resistance level 6! I am so shocked by this because when I used to do 30 minutes on level 1 I was huffing and puffing and altogether exhausted by the end. Once I finished I got off kinda dissapointed that I didn't get such a great workout. I headed for the treadmill and alternated walking and jogging in preperation of a 5K. I walked on a 4.0 incline going 3.5 mph for 90 seconds and then I jogged at 4.0 mph for 60 seconds. I only did 10 minutes because I was short on time but I really wanted to do more. I will hit up the gym tomorrow and probably stick to just the treadmill.

I can't believe I was actually jogging, and doing it kinda easily. I have always said I wasn't a runner but I might have to alternate my previous way of thinking. It would be so cool to just get on a treadmill and run and run. I want to build up my resistance so I can run a 5K, who knows maybe I'll actually go out and run it when I'm ready.

How is everyone today? I know Monday's are usually icky for everybody but just wanted to check on you guys.

It was a good Monday - I made out my food plan for this coming weekend. I'll have to cook almost all day on Wednesday and then divvy it all up into containers and pack it into the cooler on Thursday. Grilled burgers and chicken, cheddar and jarlsburg cheeses, a quiche (no crust), dry roasted almonds, and salad. I'll roast a chicken up for the family and make a chicken/gravy/mashed potato casserole, meatloaf and roasted potatoes for another dinner, broccoli, grinders, etc. The hotels usually have a carb-loading breakfast so they can have that and I'll have quiche. They're favorite snack these days is trail mix so that and a dessert I'm not tempted by will take care of it. And for that odd craving, maybe a can of tuna with all those packets of mayonnaise I "borrowed" from McD's today........

Thanks again Yoly. Couldn't have done it without you!

                      Teri

edited to add that I got in the exercise - 30 minutes on the crosstrainer at the woosy level of 7 but then 100 crunches on the inclined bench at its highest setting. Could be better but then again, it could be nothing!

Today my exercise will be pouring concrete. I can't believe I am doing this. The outfit I volunteer for is putting up a garage sized building for storage and it needs to be on a concrete pad. The footings are dug, the forms are made, and all that needs doing is pouring and screeding the concrete. I'm considering it my upper body workout!

Thanks for all your encouragement. I'm looking forward to a drop in the scales. Finally!!!

OK, pouring concrete is a TOTAL body work out. I'm very tired. Was covered with splotches and still had to get to the grocery store so I showered and stopped at the doc's office on the way to the store just to get a reality check on my weight and......... SIX POUNDS ARE GONE GONE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if a pound or so was water weight and comes back now that I'm not sweating buckets I don't care.
