Hello I'm new here & I know that christmas will be here before we know it but I would love to join your challenge.

I, Joann swear to be faithful to the Atkins Way of Life in order to become healthier and look and feel better about myself. Whether facing fluctuations of the scale, fourth of july picnics, birthday parties, or mean jerks who want to tear us down..., I will not waver in my determination to the promise I have made to myself on this day! For I know that if I am true to the Atkins WOL, health and confidence will surely follow!

My goal is to weigh 250 lb by christmas (or the end of the year).

I know that when I achieve my goal, I will treat myself to a new outfit.

And I promise that when I am having trouble, I will come to my fellow teamsters to help! In addition, I will help my team out by also providing encouragement, wisdom, and understanding when they need it.

        Thank you,

Welcome Joann, the more the merrier. Feel free to post as often as you like and we'll look forward to learning more about you as the challenge progresses.

Yankee - 6 pounds is amazing. All that hard work is certainly paying off. You'll be at goal in no time!

Well this week for me on the exercise front has been a good one. I got to the gym every day from saturday through til tuesday for an hour each time and also did body combat on monday and am going again tonight. I have been listening to my body and so far don't think I'm doing too much too soon. I'm hoping that all my hard work will pay off on the scales on friday and if not this week, I know that this new exercise programme can do nothing but benefit me in the long run.

You can do it Mary-chan! Everyone is here to help you!

Hi Joann, nice to see you joined up. It's a great support group. I couldn't have hit the 40 pound mark without everyone here.

It'll be a while before I can post my weigh-ins on Saturdays so I'm aiming for Thursdays - I don't work on Thursdays and can use the doc's scale and a weigh-in then will keep me in line as I load up the cooler for the weekends.

Welcome Joanne, you've joined a wacky group.

Holly - wow girl, your really hitting up the excercise. That is awesome, don't be discouraged if you don't notice a change in the scale right away. Remember that your fat cells will empty and then get replaced with water, it takes a while to get the water out too. Great job, keep up the good work.

Mary - I have no doubt you'll be at 220 by the time your cruise comes around, your really working hard. All that excercise is doing wonders, your shrinking!

I've been doing pretty well on the excercise front this week, I've started something new which is exciting because I was getting kind of bored with my WATP tape. Since I'm up on campus every day with time to kill I have been going to the gym quite a lot. On Monday I went and did 45 minutes of cardio including walking/jogging and crosstraining machine. Then yesterday I got on the treadmill and walked/jogged for 30 minutes for a total of 2 miles. I am really excited about the jogging part, my sister is a runner; she ran a marathon. I never wanted to be a runner, didn't see the appeal, but now I am totally into this. It is a big challenge for me and I am absolutly SHOCKED that I am doing it. And to my amazement it is actually fun. I find myself wanting to do more and more. I can't believe it, I was never this person before atkins. I hated excercise as a kid, I sat in front of the TV all day every day, I grew up and kept these bad habits. Well here I am 24 and finally becoming a truly active person. I feel like crying, it seems like it has taken me so long to get here, but I am finally here and will remain here.

                  Welcome to the team, Joann!

Everyone is doing great this week! Thanks for the encouragement too, everyone

Man I am tired today, it is too early in the morning and I don't want to go to work. Last night I ate something with a lot of salt on it, and I think it made me retain a lot of water, because the scale was up this morning even though i felt thinner. Not worried though Hope everyone has a great day!

Okay today sucked. I ate too much, all legal foods, but was stressed and just couldn't seem to get full. I hate that!! I had planned a rest day for today too, so that with no exercise.. I will be happy if I don't gain any weight this week. Tomorow after work I am going to exercise like crazy!

I feel yucky TOM hit full force today so that means running is on hold till the flow is lighter LOL. I hate that have to stay close to the bathroom or I risk having a major OOOPS. I am going to do weights today that will probably take me 1 hour or 45 minutes so at least I am doiung somehting.

Wow, it's been almost a week since I've posted here. Didn't mean to take so long. It's been a busy week but I've been following plan pretty good and exercising every day. Still doing my Curves every day. I must admit I'm having trouble eating my lunch some days. I try to eat a salad most days but sometimes that salad is just getting so old. Todal I think I will just eat some veggies and let the salad go.

Yesterday was so busy I just ran all day long. I bet if I had that heart rate monitor on all day and calculated my calories spent, no telling how many calories I would have burned during the whole day. My Curves had it's 2 year birthday party. I made a Strawberry Nut dessert (legal) and mingled with them for a while then rushed home, showered then rushed to my sister's home to visit with my other sister who was visiting from out of town while we waited on my third sister to come over so we could go out to lunch. We did have a nice lunch together (all legal). Then rushed and took the visiting sister to her son's home and visited with them for a while. When I finally arrived back home I had to have a nap I was so tired. When I got up from the nap, had to rush to my husband's work to help him reorganize his "My Documents" on his work computer (everyone had already left work) which was a job and a half. We finished about 9 pm. WOW, what a day for a stay at home person.

Today has been more relaxed but I did get my exercise in. I'm managing to get Curves in 6 days a week and walking the other day. I have my first weight and measurement with them on the 5th. Hope my hard work shows up on the scalaes and tape measure. The diet is going pretty good. I have found that dairy is not good for me as it makes me crave so I've cut it out of my diet. The berry rung is a little difficult in that I tend to eat a little too much but I'm trying to make that work since it makes for a good variety. Other than that it's pretty good. I do have to work to get plenty of water in.

Will post my #'s tomorrow. Hope all is well with you guys. Susan

Didn't exercise today either. Didn't plan on it, but my fiance and I went out with his family to outback. i had a ceasar salad with shrimp, no croutons or anything. But that was after my dinner. I am angry at myself, I screwed up this entire week. Just as I start to feel really good about my weigh loss, I seem to screw things up for myself. Maybe it is sabotage or something, I dont know!
