  • Hi Everyone,
    I am so sorry that I haven't been posting in a long time! I have just started to write my thesis and I am also in the middle of writing a paper for a journal and thinking about applying for a real job (gasp!) But I know that it isn't an excuse! Everyone has the same amount of time in a day that I do!
    So an update:
    I was having a rough begining of the month, no weight loss for 1-2 weeks. But I was patient, since this has happened before. and then finally a few days ago the scale started moving again.

    Some terrific news:
    As of TODAY I have lost 40 pounds!!! (since my start date: Nov. 1st 2004)
    I went to the store this weekend just to see if I could fit into a size 20 (I wear 22's now) and...

    I am wearing a size 20 jeans!!!! They fit perfectly!!! I am a size 20! I can't believe it!
    I even tried on a size 18 and allthough I wouldn't have worn them out of the store, I did button and zip them with little trouble!
    I wish I could find some time to post pictures. I am taking them for a record. I think it will be cool to see them when I am done.

    I am sorry I have been a slacker when it comes to posting and supporting my team, but I have been "working my atkins" as 2big says and doing my couch to 5K running program religiously.

    I'll try to post more regularly!

        • Hey, everyone, how is Team 3? Friendly2, my heart goes out to you, I know I had been really struggling for about three months and have finally turned a corner and am back on track eating right and exercising. Try every day to stay on track, but realize that nobody is perfect so forgive yourself if you slip and move on. I swear not giving up, coming to the boards everyday (even if I didn't have time to post) and trying to do my best kept me going and now I am back on track.

          doitnow: Hope the cold is better. I really think exercise helps get over illnesses faster than if you don't exercise when you aren't feeling well. What kind of exercise are you doing? I have a treadmill and that can get boring, but here in Wisconsin a walk outside is not going to happen for another 2 months or so! Both my daughters dance, so I also have a Pilates tape and the New York City Ballet Workout tape. I have been considering look into a Tae Bo (sp?) class or tape. Thought it might be fun.

          Last10-love your new picture. You are a cutie! I note that you and are about hand in hand in this journey. I started at 272 and am now at 228. May I ask how tall you are? I'm look at your goal weight. I'm 5'3" and am shooting for 140. I think friendly2 is right around our range, too.

          Fina--congrats on the loss. Way to go! Everytime you think about gorging, think about trying to get those 3 pounds off again.

          2big--Yes to a new thread. I had to print this one off to try to say hi to everyone and keep track of what is going on. As I had said, my internet usage at work is limited, so I like to pop in and out quickly!

          As for me--I see to be stuck, but I am plugging away, drinking my water and eating on plan and yes exercising. I seem to be losing inches or firming up or something but the scale isn't moving, so I'm not going to weight for awhile and see what happens.

          To everyone else on Team 3--where are ya? how are ya?

          • Well, unfortunately I didn't buy the 20's, I am too broke right now! But when I do buy them I will get rid of my 22's!!! I agree that it is a good idea not to keep them around. When I quit smoking (6 years ago!!!) I threw out every ashtray and lighter I had since I would no longer need them. I dodn't even save one for company. It was a signal to my brain that I was serious about really quitting, and I think it will be the same with the "fat clothes". But I have to have something to wear in the meantime, so I think the plan will be to give something away or have something altered everytime I buy a new item!

              I think we're Atkins Triplets! I'm also 5'3" (I've totally forgotten to add that to my sig).

                  • Yeah, I saw in your signature your goal of "onederland" by Memorial day, and I was just considering wether I could make that my goal too.

                      I REALLY want to start Summer in Onederland!!!!! It's an aggressive goal for me, but it' will keep me going, and even if I miss that goal, I'll still be better off than I am now.

                      For me, I've ramped up the exercise. I'm trying to get in at least 6 days a week. That's the only way I have a chance to make that!

                      • Hey: I'm 5'3" too! Now, was that planned, or what? And, I think you all can make it into Onderland by summer! We're all going to be some petite hotties!

                        LandasMom: Way to go on the exercise! My cold is much better (thanks for asking) and I lost 3 pounds last week! I just didn't feel like eating most of the week and I guess it paid off! I've FINALLY lost the weight that I gained over the holidays. I'm walking 5 days a week. If I do my treadmill, I make sure that I do most of it on an incline. And, if I'm outside, I throw in a jog every once in while to get my heart rate up. Forturnately, it's been lovely in Colorado, so I've managed to get outside. I'm thinking of checking out some classes this week. There's a stripper dance class that one of my friends is taking. What do you think? Can you see me "polishing" a pole? LOL!

                        Friendly: I know you've been struggling...is it better this week? Did you find a buddy to keep you going?

                        Lynn: I have the agree, you new pic is great! And, I know you can make it to Onderland by summer! Exercise 6 days a week? You're an animal! Way to go!

                        Fina: 3 Pounds is an awesome achievemnt! Way to go!

                        2big: I agree, let's do a new thread each week. It will give me something to look for. And yes, now that I'm unemployed, exercise is SO much easier. I have absolutely no excuse. Especially now that I'm feeling better!

                        Hope everyone else is doing well. Where is the rest of the gang?

                            • Okay Guys Mondya new check in topic from here on out? One thing I want to make sure y'all understand the old yopic will float away and be subject to board culling so they might not be here in July. Right now the culling of old topics is about 9 months behind the current date but that could change. Make sure you have a copy of your starting the challenge weight and 3measurements written down some where.

                              That is phenomenol that we have 4 memebers with the same height and same starting weights. Good thing y'all weren't incharge of nameing the topic or we might have been the 5 threes

                              • Hey, Michele and Lynn--YES--I'm going to Onederland with you by Memorial Day! This New Year's Challenge has really helped me get my motivation back and a little bit more pushing certainly won't hurt! At my daughters' dance school they are having a summer "adult/child" jazz class that I want to take and my girls even told me they wouldn't be embarassed to dance with me--think I can get the teacher to teach a dance to "Brickhouse"?

                                2Big--Do you want us to repost every week how much we needed to lose at the beginning of the year? I'm going to try to PM some of our missing members. Maybe I can shoo them out of the woodwork!

                                My husband just told me this morning he finally got our home computer back on line, so I will be able to check in at night when I don't have my bosses sneaking up on me. Yeah!
