Good night. It's cold here. Of course, cold to me is......47. WHOOOO, blistering. I gotta go sit by the fire.LOL
I actually put on a coat for my trip to UVA yesterday morning! It was 17 degrees when I left and it never got up to freezing all day. I never wore a coat at all last year. I wore a seatshirt jacket a few times when I went walking at low temps. I hate coats. I don't put the heat on in my bedroom--ever. I just shut the window yesterday morning.

I do know that close to the water is a different kind of cold. When I lived and worked in Key West, FL, I wore a coat more than I ever do here. The coldest it ever got was 57 degrees and I closed all the windows, and went to bed in sweats, socks and got under a pile of blankets.

Hope you feel better soon, Cat. No fun being sick. I have gotten sick so much less since I've been doing Atkins. For one thing, when I got rid of the wheat out of my diet, my life-long asthma was gone! No more inhalers; no more asthma meds that make you have a puffy face. I do take 1000mg of vitamin C every day and I take zinc, too.

    Nite nite everybody!

    Sunny!

      Hey Girls!!

      Where is everyone?

CAT- I hope you're feeling better today!!!

I have a question... does anyone else get really emotional/miserable on this WOE? I can't control it.. I know it's lack of carbs.. but after 20 days.. I would think it would subside... any thoughts????

I'm just the opposite. I have less emotional/miserable days on this WOE. This week is hard, but it is still better than it would be. Maybe you have something horomonal going on. You do eat your veggie carbs, don't you??? Maybe you should get your blood checked to see if something is out of whack.

No movement of the scale today...sigh. I actually ordered a new scale as mine (it's digital and only three months old) will show a different weight if I wait 5 minutes and get back on it. So frustrating! Have a good weekend everyone!

Hey Sherri, Sunny, Kass, Marty, Sweets, and Blue!! I've had a very long day. Still dealing with the chest and nasal congestion but not as bad as the last two days so praise God for that!

Today (oops, I mean yesterday...not realizing what time it is) I reached my New Year's goal to lose 10 more pounds (since Nov. 14th). I'm so psyched. I know that I can do this. My second overall goal is to reach 210 pounds (1/2 pound to goal). My third goal will be 195 pounds (haven't seen the 90s in forever).

Sunny, I agree with Kass....your daughter was absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for posting. I never realized she was born in the same year as I was. I can't imagine the pain you've felt at her loss. My aunt lost her daughter (my first cousin, who was like my sister) at the age of 35 from cancer; then her father (my grandfather) 2 months later; then her husband 2 months later; and then her mother (my grandmother) 1 month later. We also lost 3 other family members within that 7-month period (an uncle and two cousins - from cancer, different types). It was horrific. I pray you hold those special moments in your heart that you had with her and that God has given you peace.

You all mean a lot to me. I just wanted you to know that.

              Good night!

Good morning everyone!! Today was my "official" weigh-in. LOL!! You all know I'm addicted to the scale. I'm down to 209.5 (from my high of 240). I am elated. I never in a million years thought I would see these numbers again. I was so sick with my thyroid before I started Atkins. I thought I'd end up gaining to no end. Obesity runs in my family. There are some really large women in my family and I thought I'd end up like them. When you think you see your destiny right before your eyes...you tend to want to give up. Thank God I didn't give up and thank God I found all of you!! Keep on keeping on everyone and have an awesome day!!

I weighed in this morning, but it wasn't good news. The steroids they injected on Friday still have me very swollen. I am, however, starting my exercise program back up today, very gently.

I'm sorry that you didn't see the results you wanted Sunny. However, remember, it's all medication-related....not anything Atkins-unfriendly that you did.

My birthday is January 10th! We can celebrate together! We practical, disciplined, patient Capricorns have what it takes to get around all obstacles in our path to success.

I can tell you that the two pounds that took me into the Magical Onederland was more wonderful than all the other pounds (95) put together! My sister was here, sitting out on my porch, and I shouted so loud that she came rushing into my house to see what was wrong! She's very hard of hearing! She said that at the very least, she expected to find a finger chopped off or something equally painful!

I was expecting my weight to be up, but it is still hard to take when I've been doing so well. You also have a lot of health problems and I know that you can understand how those problems, medications and treatments control so much of your progress. I no longer use it as an excuse to not try.

I think I am ready to do nuts!!! I have done the extra veggies.. and that seemed to help my weight loss move... however I am not doing the dairy rung as there is nothing on there I like.. so I am going to jump to nuts.

I am a little afraid though!! What if I start doing the rungs and I gain weight!!! I know I can't keep doing meat and veggies.. but ...

Was anyone else afraid to move on... and do you find you are still losing even though you started adding other food back in???

                              thanks!!

That is too cool that your birthday is so close to mine!! My Mom's is January 2nd and I have an Uncle that shares the same birth day as you. I also have a first cousin born in January on my 18th birthday.

Yes, I understand about the health problems and how those stupid meds can pack on the pounds overnight. The antihistamines do that to me. Surprisingly, it didn't do that this time but I switched to Benadryl dye-free...so maybe it was the dye and not the actual antihistamine causing the water gain. The doc here tried to put me on steroids for the Morton's Neuroma in my foot. I told him nope, no way, now how. I'll just deal with it. I'm not taking anything unless I absolutely have to. I also told him no pain pills unless I just could not take it anymore, otherwise, I'll deal with it. This all comes from having to take meds almost my entire life. I am tired of it. I've narrowed it down to two meds - Synthroid (for my thyroid) and Flonase (for my allergic Rhinitis). If I could get rid of those I would but unfortunately those two things can take me down quickly and I'd much rather take the drugs than feel like crap.

Ok, I was LOL so hard when I read about you screaming and your sister running!! I don't know what my reaction will be but I think I'll probably cry for the sheer joy of it.
