My Happy Weight is 141.3. Close to my original. I remember weighing that in high school and being told I was fat. If only I could tell the lil girl I was that I was just fine. Can you say, issues.

    Have a great night!!
She was probably jealous. I was 137 at age 22 on a Spring Break trip to Florida wearing a bikini (for the first time - hopefully not the last time). I will try to get the pictures scanned so everyone can see.

Oh Sunny, I am so sorry to read about appt with the dr. That is a tough position to be put into. It does make you wonder why he would want to do it there in his office if it was a ...what did he say "challenge"? for him. Why only with a 'local'? I know nothing about medicine so i am interested to read what you who are wiser have to say.

Sunny, you are in my thoughts.

I agree with Cat - wouldn't let him have a second chance to botch the job again. I don't know what the surgery is for and that certainly would make a difference. I think this "dr." is telling you that he's already "done his best" and his "best" is crappy. And doing it in his surgical suite - uh, NO. Too much risk. He can't possibly have the same equipment as a Good Hospital not to mention "local anesthesia"...sheesh, sounds risky and scary. Glenda will know. My stock answer in situations like this is "go to Mayo Clinic" but that's half a country away. Please take extra care.

              Hello Derby Girls!
Gosh, I had a heck of a time getting logged in here today. I finally sent an e-mail to the board to see what the problems was. I guess they found it cause I'm finally on.
Cat, my happy weight is 168.5, IN MY DREAMS! That would be the case when I'm at my goal at 220 along with cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin. I'm not going to do that so I'm happy with 220.
I went for my lab work today. I should here something by thursday. I'll let you know what I find out. My doctor only requested the T-4 levels tested. So I requested to have my T-3 levels tested as well. I'm curious to see what they will be. I'm definately becoming more assertive now when it comes to my thyroid. I want to get back to goal again. I'm praying to get the answers from doctor that will help me address the thyroid. Wish me luck!
I'm really zonked, I'll check in tomorrow morning with all of you to catch up. My eyes are actually crossing, so tired.

Sunny, I would also not give the doctor another chance at the surgery. It may be the beligerant American in me, but reading your story makes me want you to sue him for malpractice! The idea that he would leave you worse off than you began and then try to blame your body for his mistakes is a huge indicator that he is not worthy of operating on you again.

If you want to add my happy weight to the list, it's 140.1!

Sunny my personal opinion is this:

I would not let that doctor finish what he started. If what he did is his best....obviously he isn't that great. And how dare him blame your body for his inability to get the job done. His actions & words are extremely unproffesional. And if he is so scared or nervous about your RSD then why did he agree to the surgery to begin with.

I wouldn't have anything done in his surgical suite under local...is he nuts?? You are considered a high risk patient with your health issues. Sounds like he is just trying to cover his ***. My personal opinion is I hate seeing surgeries closed with staples...I think it's okay in joint replacements. To me using staples is laziness...why not finish off the job with a nice closure using suture. Staples leave horrible scars & that can cause problems.

I guess I would get a second opinion & definately get yourself a patient advocate!!!

I think his being whiny & a wimp is due to the fact that he knows he messed up big time.

Again just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response! This is exactly my opinion, too. I just want to make sure that I am not the one with unrealistic expectations. I tend to ask questions to which I already know the answer, so when I asked him if it was standard procedure to use staples instead of sutures and skin glue, he said staples are always used, because that area is so hard to suture! Wrong! I couldn't find one other surgeon that used staples to close that type of incision! I know that is how he cut more than two hours of the total time it was supposed to take for the surgery.

Tomorrow, I start finding a patient advocate and I am going to insist on a second opinion. It doesn't help that this doctor is one of the most highly regarded docs in his field at UVA and teaches other doctors how to do this highly technical surgery.

                        Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

That is very scary. Maybe if you file a complaint he won't be one of the most highly regarded anymore and will save some other people from his dangerous, non-knowing hands.
