I know it is just day 9, and I really shouldn't be weighing in at all, but my wt hasn't budged for a few days, kind of discouraging. I am only down 5-6 pounds, I was hoping for some outstanding results I guess. I am wondering how important exercise is? Cosidering I have been sick, I only walked a half hour, probably only 2 days the entire 9 days. I guess it is really important, what does Dr Atkins say about amount of exercise? I still didn't get my book in the mail yet. It is very difficult to get exercise in with the little one, but I do know the value of just walking!! I had the baby prematurely, at just 28 weeks, and I didn't have time to wait for an available nurse to wheel me down to the NICU to go see him, so the day after the c-section (after 3 mos of bedrest), I started walking down there on my own from the maternity ward, must have been like 3 blocks. NOthing was going to keep me away from that baby! (He turned out just perfect, btw!)

Once home, he was still at the hospital for 9 weeks, I drove to Duluth to see him evrey single day. I would have to walk about 10 mins from the ramp to the NICU to see him, and all that walking, I tell you, got me right down to my pre-pregnancy weight in like a month! Then I got the little guy home in November, and had to STAY home with him for the whole winter, literally, so he wouldn't be exposed to the public and get RSV. Kept him safe and healthy all winter, but put on 25 pounds! In just 6 months! I dunno, I guess the walking is a must. I have been pretty low key in getting any form of exercise for so long, I really just need to commit to it. Yeah, thanks for letting me sort that all out here! LOL I know what I need to do, but I just wanted to share my experience with simple walking! It is so important! I was just hoping the WOE would make a huge jumpstart for me, kinda bummed that it is not going to go that way. Maybe better put a Tae Bo vid in before the kids get up.

Elsie--not sure what challenge I will go for..see the 6 WEC challenge is almost up--maybe should go for the gusto..like the water one, the mile one, and the veggie one too. I wiegh in tommorrow..will decide then on moving or not..I do understand your reason's and Thank You.

Tired-Glad your checking in! and Happy thoughts to you too

Val--I agree with Elsie -You are doing awesome with Balancing what's going on in your life! and you had time to post recipes and with all that cooking and sharing advice and giving support for all the Buddy's
( it's the reason I gave you your first Rep point ) So glad you had a date night! and I'm still making mush too (all the same to the dog! he's in heaven --will have to try jello..geez been decades since I had it.
Buy a Pedometer at walmart -$1.19 - and attatch it to your sneaker..once you hit 5000 steps your in full burn of fat..start small and beat the amount you walked last..and if you get time they have a pedometer challenge here!

Tommorrow--I like it here too (but it'll be our secret feeling)
            WTG--No hermit, get out there.

shesays--Congrad's-and hope induction is proceeding well

Hey Delia..hope it's going great for you too

Elsie--how you doing? better I hope! did you try a new recipe? I made the pizza..it's ok--really doesn't taste like cauliflower but really don't taste like pizza crust either..Made a perfect Quiche! Linda's Spinach and mushroom--left it on the stove to cool and mowed the lawn, came in and it was gone family and my daughter's girl friends thought is was a normal breakfast and ate it and loved it..guess it's ok..but the bad part is the I can still smell it thru the whole house ARRRRR where's that Dog!

Bill, they ate your qiche?? Oh, no! After all your hard work?? Geez!! At least the recipe was kid approved! LOL! My kids wouldn't touch anything with a mushroom, or with green in it. I am drinking the water, maybe even double time some days. *sigh* I guess I just need to hit the sidewalk, 5000 steps in a day?

What are rep points and how do you get them??

WHen you're done catching up with all you have to do, wanna study the cardio vascular system for me?

shesays...2 pounds down...keep up the great work.

Val...any movement is good. Maybe taking the kids to the park. How old are they?? You know...5-6 pounds in 9 days is a good start. Yes...some do better , but some do worse as well! You still have 5 more days of induction left. Who knows what will happen. Post your menu...with everything you eat and drink in a typical day and maybe we can spot something. But it may be that that is just the way it will go for you. If so, don't be discouraged. It is still coming off. Did you ever figure out fitday?? I, personally, think you are doing a great job!!

Bill...LOL! Poor guy...sweating over a hot stove and not even getting to taste your creation! They should have left you a piece. You need a little toothpick sign to stick in your creations. At least you know it tasted good if there were no leftovers. Leave the Dog alone!!

I am feeling 99% better. I am going to try a flax recipe this morning. Will let you all know how it turned out. BTW...I started an induction recipe thread in this forum so feel free to add what you have tried to it if you like it. I think it will be very helpful to others.

Okay...off for breakfast and some remodelling. I will check in often today so I want to see some posts from my buddies!!!

                    • Re: Looking for some buddies.

Had this for breakfast today. Found it in the recipe section from MotherEarth aka Sherri. I would say that the texture/look may be something to get used to the first time for some. Next time I will save the cream for on top after it has been cooked..makes it feel more hot cereal like. But I would add an extra Tbsp of water as I think that it needs the liquid if you are taking out the cream. I added sweetner. Quite yummy.

I make hot flaxmal cereal all the time. If you have whole flax seed, just mill it in a coffee grinder.
                      3 TBLS. flaxmeal

                      1 Tbls. cream
                      1/4 cup water
                      1 tbls. butter
                      Sweetner if you choose
Microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds on high

They are 9 mos, 5 and 6. Yep 3 of em running around here! LOL!

Ok, a sample menu, we have been trying a lot of recipes, but here goes:

                          broccoli/ bacon quiche 5carbs

1/3 pound burger, not quite 1 cup picnic salad 9carbs
                          sf jello

Make Me sutffed peppers, skipped the 2nd pepper and ate just filling cuz carbs were getting up there, 6carbs

one can Diet rite, 12 waters, 2 coffee, decaf with 2 splenda packets.

                          That was yesterday. Whaddya think?

rep points...try again...make sure you click on the Add to Reputation button.

Kids/exercise....They would definately like a walk to the park. Once there you could do some exercises there...step ups on the bench. Push up on the bench. Obstacle course on the jungle gym. Tag with the older ones. Just some ideas. At home...tag again...skipping with them..well everyone has their own jumprope.

Okay...You are 1 over in your sweetners...I am not usually picky like that because my body can take it....but you might want to cut those out for a few days and see if that makes a difference...I will cross my fingers that that is not it. Is the SF jello sweetened with Splenda or Aspartame. Maybe a reaction to just one of them?

I notice that you only had a not quite 1 cup of salad...is this because your other veggies added to more than a cup?? Other than that....it looks pretty good and similar to what I would eat on induction except for the sf jello and I would have had a salad with the dinner.

Still no luck with fitday?? Wondering what the calories are like...could be low??

It takes quite a few rep points given to change the rep power number displayed, so you will not often actually see the result of giving a rep point.

Here is some info from the FAQs re board operation. (BTW I think that our board here only allows 'positive' reputation to be given so ignore the comments about negative or neutral reputation)
                              What is reputation?
Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.
Reputation may be positive , negative or neutral . Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.
                              How do I give reputation?
To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.
How do I know what reputation I have received?
You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.
How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?
If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.
What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?
You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
