  • Re: OWLERS "Stepping Back" thread

The only thing I've done differently is ditch the cottage cheese--I'm still eating the same amount of veggies--it's amazing that one thing could plug me up like that. I am RELIEVED. I hated going only a couple times a week. Call me crazy.

Lunch a relatively boring can of water packed tuna mixed with 1.5 tbsp mayo and 2 cherry tomatoes and a 4 inch piece of cucumber. Water to drink. Still hungry so I'm going to have a piece of cheddar cheese.

Getting back to BMR. My base is 2069. I have a sedentary job, but work out 6-7 days per week. Therefore I figure my BMR using the Harris Benedict method in between the two. Somewhere in the 3000-3100 range. I usually take in somewhere in the 2000-2100 range so I am running a defecit of about 1000 calories per day. Probably a little higher than it should be, but I can't seem to be able to eat much more than that. I think the most that I have gotten in lately on any given day has been about 2500. I try to never let it get much below my base BMR though.

OK, here is what my day is like today.

                        Breakfast
1/2 cup of One Fiber cereal
                        1/4 cup of soy milk
                        3 large eggs

                        Lunch
1 1/2 hamburgers: made with 1 1/2 Natures Own low carb hamburger buns, 7 oz ground sirloin 90/10, 2 medium slices onion, 1 outer leaf romaine lettuce, 1 roma tomato, 1 tbsp mayo, 1 tsp low carb ketchup.
                        1/8 slice of large cantaloupe

For Dinner tonight we are having
8 oz dark meat roasted chicken with skin on
1 cup of green beans with 1/8 cup of onion and 1/8 cup of walnuts
                        2 cups of romaine lettuce
                        1 roma tomato
                        2 tbsp blue cheese dressing.

Liz, we do the same thing. We also do it with lump crab meat. We mix it with mayo and a little onion and celery. Place on top of tomatoes and then top with with colby jack cheese. Put it under the broiler to melt the cheese. It is delicious. The sweetness of the crab and the tomato combined with the saltiness of the cheese gives it a wonderful combination of flavors.

Yummmm Liz that sounds good...gonna try it but will wait til I incorporate more tomatoe into my diet. I only had 2 cherry tomatoes chopped up in my tuna salad and trying your recipe with 2 teeny weeny little cherry tomatoes just wouldn't cut it for me..hehehe.

                              Thanks for the idea!

DAMN IT! I just typed out a long post and lost it.

                                Ok, I'm over it.

                                HELLO EVERYBODY!

Man, it feels good to sit down.

What a day! That lost post was just the icing on the cake. This moring, I discovered my car had a dead battery when I tried to bring Daniel (DS) to school. Thank goodness, Barry (DH) hadn't left for work yet, so I used his car to drop off Daniel. He jumped my car so I could get to work. We figured that it wouldn't start when it was time for me to come home, but we would deal with it then. Well, of course it was dead when I tried to get home. Luckily, my mom had just gotten home from work so she came and picked me up. My mom and I live in the same neighborhood, about a mile and a half from each other. And the boutique that I work in is about 2 miles from our neighborhood, so at least we were all in close proximity.

I giggled with delight when I came here and saw that so many posts had been made while I was gone. I have enjoyed reading through the pages to catch up. I'll just start rambling about a few things...

I can't believe that some of you only go *potty* a few times a week! Thank God, I haven't had that problem at all. Well, I did skip one day once, but that was very clearly a case of not drinking enough water the day before. Other than then, I go every single day. In fact, I don't need an alarm clock in the morning... it's what gets me out of bed every day. I attribute this to my obsession with seeking fiber. If I get between 22 and 24 grams of fiber for a day, that is low for me. I try to get at least 25 and it is usually closer to 30. MUP, the way I fix it, is great for fiber - 15 grams!

Kathy, do I understand correctly that you use 1 ounce of cream cheese per whole can of pupmkin? Wow... I use a lot more. I guess I "should" try to cut back on it... mine looks soooo creamy... I use 2 ounces of cream cheese in a half can of pumpkin. It's so good, though!

OK - BMR. As technical as I am about some things, I must admit that all of the BMR details make my head hurt. My BMR theory is really quite simple. I try not to eat under it. That's it. I have never tried to calculate how many calories I burn during exercise, and never will. I figure it's just a guess, anyway, and I don't care.

Let's see... what else... My fat percentages are usually higher than they "should" be. Again, I don't care. I feel better eating higher fat, and until it bites me in the a$$, I'm going to keep eating it.

Oh, yeah... one of the reasons that I love this thread is because I really don't have time to visit anyone's journal chat except Julie's, so this has been a great place to connect with y'all. I very much enjoy getting to know you better. I really like hearing what all of you are eating. And, it comes to mind that there are a few things that lots of people eat that I don't. For example, I never eat eggs. Not fried, scrambled, boiled, anything. I occasionally eat an omelette if we go somewhere that I trust, and I used to make them early on, but I don't care much for eggs anymore. I have made a muffin-in-a-minute 3 times over the last couple of months, and I use an egg in that... but I can't think of any other time that I eat them. And I have eaten tuna once. And the single, only time I ever use mayo is in broccoli slaw. And the only kind of chicken that I eat is drumsticks... and not very often. Hmmm.... now what is it that I do eat? LOL...

Well, I guess that I had better go rustle up something to eat. I have eaten very, very little today. Gotta get on it...

                                See ya, later!
