I just had to share the news! I am so pumped up right now, you may have to scrape me off the ceiling. Week before last, I actually gained 1/2 lb, but I stuck with the plan and even stepped up another 5 carbs to 70 net, which I thought might be risky. However, I stepped on the scale today for this weeks weigh in, and drum roll please....

        I LOST 5.5 LBS!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes, but it's true!!!

Meaning that I have lost 100 lbs since January 1st, 128 lbs since August 14, 2006, and 166 lbs from my heaviest weight. I am now only 18 lbs away from Pre-Maintenance and 28 lbs away from goal. Can this be real???

        Here are last weeks totals.
        Averaged 1973 calories per day
Averaged 150 grams of protein per day 30%
Averaged 106 grams of fat per day 48%
Averaged 70 net carbs per day 22%

Don, congratulations! Way to work the plan!!!

Have you noticed that as you've added carbs, you've decreased your calories? I had a jumpstart to my weightloss when I started OWL, but it's been steadily (but slowly) declining. I haven't had any huge whooshies like you. I've decreased my calories somewhat, probably by about 200-300 a day in these upper rungs, and I was just curious how your numbers have been changing. I'm still losing weight, albeit at a slower pace...

It does become a bit of a balancing act! Yes, I have been going down a little in calories along the way. I usually plug into Fitday what my weight is and look at my BMR each week with the new weight loss and try to lower my calorie intake accordingly. I know that I don't do everything right and I know that I make lots of mistakes, but I do try to get my protein and fat to balance out at the end of the day along with my carbs. It does get a little tricky sometimes, I have to admit. This is one of the things that is so great about this board. We are all trying to figure this WOE together!

Also, you are getting pretty close to goal so your loss is going to slow down. Because it hasn't slowed down quite as much for me, (it's that darned male metabolism again), I am beginning to think that my original goal isn't low enough and will need to be revised. I guess I will know when I get there.

                Anyway, thanks! Y'all are great!!!

I'm hoping that's just what it is. Since I hit 180, it's been pretty slow-going. Slow for me, anyway. I'm used to 1-2 pounds a week, and lately it's been like, 2-3 pounds a MONTH. What I can't figure out is how many calories I can eat/should eat if I'm eating 90g carbs/day. Perhaps I'm just overanalyzing this...but I've seen more than a few people say things like "I can eat 1800 calories a day and 40g carbs, or I can eat 1500 calories a day and 60g carbs to lose weight" and so on. If that's true, how the heck will I ever find my CCLL? In fact, this week, I've had a couple days that I've eaten at least 100g of carbs, and I lost 1 pound. I hadn't thought my CCLL would be super-high...

Since I'm getting to that point where I'll no longer be in ketosis anymore (I thought I read that over 100g carbs the body generally does not remain in ketosis) and I still lose weight, will I have to switch to counting calories???

Hey Jules! Just wanted to pop in and say I'm at 1 or 2 lbs a month too. It's because we're so close to goal. I don't know about your cals/carb question, But I am around 60-80 carbs a day if I try and still have loss, slow but there. Hopefully we'll get this all figured out eventually. I think not knowing keeps us on our toes though. Just experiment and see what works for you.

Julie, now you're sounding like me. I am sure that it is because you are getting so close to goal. Geez, I just realized that you are only 2 lbs from going on Pre-Maintenance anyways. I am still wondering where my CCLL is going to be as well, and while I want to find it, I don't want my weight loss to slow down either. I was taking each rung and increase in carbs slow, staying three weeks at each level, but now I am raising it every two so that I can get to my CCLL faster. OK, so here is a question. What happens if we are already at the pre-maintenance level, yet we haven't found our CCLL? That wasn't something that I even anticipated happening.

                          Good question, Don!

I'm actually going to shoot for 150, but I'm keeping my ADBB "GOAL" at 160, and won't be starting pre-maintenance until then. Who knows, maybe I'll get to 160 and like what I see and how I feel and stay there. All I know is that though I've not lost a lot of pounds, my body continues to change and 11 more pounds might very well do the trick.

I have no idea what to do if I haven't found my CCLL by pre-maintenance. Of course, as of recent, I have not been eating the same number of grams every single day, I just make sure I don't eat above a certain level. Perhaps I should go back to 90g a day and go from there? But I feel like I'm so close that I might as well keep doing what I'm doing.
